Is Conan O’Brien outdoing himself? Or repeating himself? Who cares? Just set your TiVos for Late Night with Conan O’Brien on Halloween night. The entire show will be broadcast in “skelevision.” That means the entire episode will be populated entirely with skeletons.
“This may be the finest hour of television NBC has ever produced… with skeletons,” Conan observes in NBC’s announcement.
How will they do it?
Details, and, if you prefer not to have your illusions shattered, spoilers after the jump.
The show is a complete re-creation of a Late Night episode from last May. From the monologue to the comedy sketches and guests, no living humans will be featured in the show–only their voices– and skeletons.
Guests on the episode are Larry King (we’ll skip the “proximity to the grave” crack) actor Omar Epps (House) and actress and pole-dancing workout instructor (and wife of The West Wing‘s Richard Schiff), Sheila Kelley– who’ll demonstrate her pole-dancing workout. As a skeleton.
Will Arnett’s bone structure shows up in the show’s signature “In the Year 2000″ segment.
Now who’s talking about Conan repeating himself? The episode of Late Night on May 15, 2003 was a special Claymation episode, with everyone appearing as animated clay figures. Guests included Johnny Knoxville, Richard Lewis and David Bowie.
In any case, with shaky NBC floating rumours that Jay Leno might not hand over the Tonight show to Conan as promised in 2009, let’s just be thankful that Conan’s team is as quirky and weird as ever. And then let’s hope for an all-skeleton Deal or No Deal.

Amen, sister (or brother).
I thought Conan was slated to take over Letterman’s spot in 2009? I thought that was a done deal years ago…?
I remember watching that episode with conan attempting the pole dance routine and it was hilarious. I can’t wait to see him to do as a skeleton!
