  • Despite beating out ABC’s much-discussed airing of Pirates of the Caribbean, last night’s Emmy telecast was down in the ratings year-to-year. Just proves my point once and again: Helen Mirren = ratings suicide. [Reuters]
  • Funny thing about air crash spoofs: they’re a lot less amusing when they really happen. [AP]
  • It’s not an Emmy party until Aida Turturro forces figure skater Sasha Cohen onto the dance floor. [LA Times]
  • Oh, and here are the winners, in case you cared. [Yahoo]
  • Okay, this doesn’t have anything to do with the Emmys… yet. MTV plans to document the life and times of young workers at the Texas waterpark, Schlitterbahn. Look, any show with the word “Schlitterbahn” at its core has me THERE. By the way, this is not to be confused with the upcoming Spike TV show, Shitter Barn. [Reality Blurred]

Schlitterbahn is a fun place, but I’ve never looked at the teenage staffers and wondered what their personal lives are like. Shitter Barn sounds more entertaining.

As a native Texan, I am humiliated by this. Nothing says boring like watching a bunch of rednecks hanging out in some small town with nothing to do.

Oh wait, I forgot about MTV’s “Two a Days”. When did the MTV generation ditch the West Coast for the Gulf Coast?
