NBC knows how to cash in a hot trend– okay, make that an old trend– by playing poker into the night.

We’re talking late night. Instead of recycling Celebrity Poker Showdown from its minor league Bravo team, the net will battle that infomercial competition by launching yet another poker show.

Poker After Dark will run Monday through Friday at 2:05 a.m. beginning Jan. 2.
Fans of Showtime at the Apollo will be displeased to learn a recap show will play at 1 a.m. after Saturday Night Live (fans of late night television are already displeased to learn that the weekday show is not replacing Carson Daly).
The show will originate from various casinos in Las Vegas. Insomniacs will get to watch six poker pros compete each week for a $120,000 first-prize. But the real Ace in the hole– and the reason for most poker fans to stay up at night– is the host.

It’s not a funnyman like Dave Foley, but former World Poker Tour personality and Playboy pin-up Shana Hiatt.

Sure you don’t want to run this after Conan?
