Newsgasm: Runaway goes away

runaway.jpgThe CW’s Runaway has run out of time. The drama about the fugitive family on the block, starring former New Kid on The Block Donnie Wahlberg as the father falsely accused of murder, has run out of steam after four airings.

The show opened to weak numbers on Monday nights behind 7th Heaven, and didn’t do any better when the pairing was moved to Sundays (in fact, with a mere 1.7 million viewers, Runaway was the lowest-rated show on any of the five networks).

Runaway will go down in history as the CW’s first dramatic casualty of the season. But will it make Brilliant But Cancelled?

Cancelled…yes. Brilliant? Not so much. I only saw the first two episodes of this but it was so boring. Donnie Walhberg has zero charisma. A show like this needs better actors in the lead roles.

As the only person in America watching this show, I’ll mourn it’s passing and comfort myself with a full season of Heroes.
