Continuing in our series of previews for the Prime Time schedule of 2006 we come along with Wednesday. All you really need to know is America’s Next Top Model and Lost. Everything else is just hoping for second place scraps.
The CW
8 PM : America’s Next Top Model (Premieres 9/20) – Now in Cycle 7, America’s Next Top Model can probably be considered the cornerstone of The CW franchise and with good reason. Although some have questioned the overall quality of the actual models as the Cycles have passed, there is no way you can deny that this is good television. I’ll be recapping the show this fall.
9 PM : One Tree Hill (Premieres 9/27) – “Aside from a love for hoops, it seemed that Lucas and Nathan were two young men with little in common, but they were bound by the fact that they share the same father. The star of the high school basketball team, Nathan was raised to inherit is father’s throne amidst popularity and wealth, while his half-brother Lucas was raised amidst modest surroundings, the only child of a single mom.” Apparently, this show is great prime time melodrama once you get into it, but who is going to watch this when better shows are on the time slot, like the third time Fashion House airs that week?

FOX
8 PM : Bones (Premiered 8/30) – “DR. TEMPERANCE BRENNAN (Emily Deschanel) is a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institution and writes novels as a sideline. Law enforcement calls on her to assist with murder investigations when the standard methods of identifying a body are useless – when the remains are badly decomposed, burned or destroyed beyond recognition. Brennan’s special expertise lies in her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim’s bones.” Seriously, Temperance Brennan? Does she have brother named Prohibition? I actually really like this show, and David Boreanaz dos a good job in his role as Brennan’s FBI tough guy sidekick.
9 PM : Justice (Premiered 8/30) – “JUSTICE is an unflinching, behind-the-scenes look at how high-profile cases are tried in these media-saturated times. Set in Los Angeles, the entertainment and high-profile trial capital of the world, JUSTICE centers on four brilliant lawyers who, together, tackle the cases that captivate the country and provide compelling fodder for everything from water cooler chit-chat to tabloid glossies to 24-hour news channels. Combining their unique skill sets and personal charisma with the most cutting-edge forensic technology, these lawyers are a formidable presence in any courtroom. When the stakes are as high as they can be, you want Trott, Nicholson, Tuller & Graves in your corner.” The best FOX legal drama since Head Cases!
NBC
8 PM : 30 Rock (Premieres 10/11) – “Welcome to the set of The Girlie Show, a fictional television show that serves as the backdrop to Tina Fey’s new workplace comedy. Liz Lemon (Fey) is The Girlie Show’s head writer and is being pushed to the edge of reason by the show’s two stars and a demanding network honcho. In order for Liz to keep her job, and her sanity, she has to balance the egos, the mandates and the neuroses while maintaining The Girlie Show laughs. It won’t be easy! In this bold, star-studded comedy, anything can happen!” I don’t understand why people think Tina Fey is so hot, but I do think she is funny. Being up against ANTM, I won’t watch it, but if they replay it on Bravo, here I come!
8:30 PM : Twenty Good Years (Premieres 10/11) – “This original comedy follows the adventures of two friends who finally realize that life doesn’t last forever. John Mason and Jeffrey Pyne are an odd pair to be buddies. They’re polar opposites in every way and have a hard time seeing eye to eye. The one thing they can agree on is that they only have twenty good years left to live. In their moment of enlightenment, both men vow to live each day as if it is their last, despite what anyone thinks. It’s age meets anarchy and there will be no regrets.” Jeffrey Tamboor and John Lithgow? This has the potential to be an awesome combination. If this doesn’t work, they can always make a series out of Space Cowboys
9 PM : The Biggest Loser (Premieres 9/20) – “Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”) returns to host the third season of the series which, challenges and encourages overweight contestants as they compete for a grand prize of $250,000 in a safe and recommended manner through comprehensive diet and exercise. The unscripted and life-altering one-hour reality series gathers contestants from across the country to face real-life temptations while being provided with approved weight-loss skills and resources in an effort to help them transform their bodies, health — and ultimately, their lives”. This show is very cheesy, but it is kind of fun to watch these people transform themselves. Copygodd will be doing the recaps.

10 PM : Kidnapped (Premieres 9/19) – “he unthinkable has become a reality for Ellie and Conrad Cain – their fifteen-year-old son, Leo, has been kidnapped. Is this shocking crime a business vendetta? Or is it something more personal? Whatever the reason, a child’s life hangs in the balance and the clock is ticking. Nothing is what it seems as the Cain family begins to unravel from the inside out. Desperate to reclaim their son, they enlist the help of an expert named Knapp who is known for his dangerous, yet effective, high-profile rescues. Now Ellie and Conrad must avoid police interference, try to keep the kidnappers in line and deal with increasing suspicions towards each other.” Remember when Mel Gibson made this movie and it was called Ransom? At least it has Delroy Lindo holding it down.
ABC
8 PM : Dancing With the Stars (Premiered 9/12) – Dancing With the Stars results air on Wednesday nights. Do yourself a favor and watching something else, because it’s really hard to fill that hour up. Catch the last five minutes if you need the update, or check for B-side and Amanda’s recaps.

9 PM : Lost (Premieres 10/4) – It’s LOST. Do I need to say anymore? EdHill will be back with the recaps. I’m still confused about the hatch.
10 PM : The Nine (Premieres 9/19) – “Nine people face jan unexpected twist when they are caught in a bank robbery gone wrong and endure a 52-hour hostage standoff that will leave two persons dead. When all is said and done, these nine people will never be the same. They will always share the common bond of what happens inside the bank…which only they’ll know. And they will be forever affected and intertwined because of it.” What you need to know is that it has Tim Daly, Chi McBride and 24 alums Kim Raver and Lourdes Benedicto. But Delroy Lindo is still on NBC.
CBS
8 PM : Jericho (Premieres 9/20) – “JERICHO is a drama about what happens when a nuclear mushroom cloud suddenly appears on the horizon, plunging the residents of a small, peaceful Kansas town into chaos, leaving them completely isolated and wondering if they’re the only Americans left alive.” Growing up in Horseheads, NY, I know the feeling. Probably the most talked about series this fall besides Heroes, it does have a great premise, but ANTM still wins!

9 PM : Criminal Minds (Premieres 9/20) – “CRIMINAL MINDS revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again.” If only CBS could come up with more procedural crime dramas to diversify their lineup!
10 PM : CSI: NY (Premieres 9/20) – Do I really need to talk about CSI? I would like to say that I have seen an episode, but I gave up on Gary Sinise after Impostor.
If you like it, spread it!:

Is it me or do the contestants in the picture of America’s Next Top Model look rather mannish?
Hastch? Hatch? Oh J-unit, that is so 2005. THis is season 3, we have no hatches. It’s all about the widmores, the Others and weird statues.
ANd why does everyone in the Kidnapped photo look really cold?
Wow, they do look quite cold. Must be shooting on the Friends set.
What about Top Chef??? That’s on Wednesdays!! C’mon guys, don’t let another season pass you by — PR it ain’t, but Top Chef is a good substitute, and it’s tvgasm gold, even if they did do away with the semi-retarded, mouth-full-of-marbles Mrs. Billy Joel. Season looks promising — I suggest someone get on it, or give me a crack at it!
No way, J-Unit you are from Horseheads? I grew up in Waverly…
shaunotred,
Yes, I’m from the heart of the 607.
