Lauren Conrad goes into the shmatta biz

While her ex-boyfriend J-Wahl is headed to real-life jail, Lauren Conrad of The Hills is checking into the digital world to launch a fashion line. The MTV star showed up on in the Virtual Hills site last night to introduce Hills and Laguna Beach-inspired “digital” clothing that will go on sale in the real world in the fall, “in high-end boutiques, retail stores and online.”

The virtual fashions include “casual-yet-sophisticated tops in an array of colors and accented with layered necklaces.”

Laura is a real-life student at LA’s Fashion Institute of Design. MTV says’ll look for feedback on the site to help develop the continues to design her real-world fashion line.MTV’s president Christine Norman says: “Our viewers make little distinction between their online and real-world personas, and the introduction of Lauren’s fashion line reflects their desire to embrace what they see on television and make it an integral part of all facets of their lives.”

Meanwhile, The Hills page of MTV’s SeenON! shopping site offers Hills-inspired straight-leg jeans for $180, Black gold stackable rings for $145 and $635 Kooba Parka bag, among others, so why wait to burn through your parents’ credit card?

    HA- I had the exact same thought, ABC Girl. B-side, are you really leaving us for the Conrad Clan?

    Ok I’m not the only one who noticed that! Phew! Everytime I looked at her – I thought – I know that girl! Of course, my husband was of little help since he does not get into my MTV obsession as much as I do…very sad of me.

    What was up with the Noro virus on that show anyway? Plus does that Robin chick (ugh, why do they keep giving the Antin family TV shows!!!) give a crap that over half of the girls were puking all night long…oh wait maybe that’s normal for her…
