Don’t worry, Lost won’t end like The Sopranos

“We will not be ending with a blackout.”

That’s the promise from the executive producer of Lost, amid fers that the surprise and unsatisfying finale of The Sopranos may have opened the door for other favorite shows to end in limbo. (Limbo? Isn’t that another Lost theory?).

Carlton Cruse and co-creator Damon Lindelof say they haven’t figured out yet how they’re ending the series when it ends 48 episodes from now, in the springs of 2010.

“Obviously, we can’t wait to the 48th hour to say, ‘Here are all the mysteries of the show,’ ” says Lindelof.

Cuse adds: “I’m not sure there is any ending that will satisfy everyone. Our hope is that the ending will be… the logical conclusion of the story.”Cuse says the first season of Lost was about the Oceanic Flight 815 survivors landing on the island and realizing they weren’t getting rescued. The second season was about the hatch, and the third season was about the Others.

“Next season, well, we’ll talk about that later.”

New episodes don’t roll out until next year. But 90-second Lost mobisodes featuring the entire cast will roll out on Verizon Wireless in the fall and then probably appear on ABC.com.

The Lost boys say they’ll appear at the Comic-Con International show in San Diego next month (where Lost was launched) to talk about what they had in mind for the Season 3 finale and what they had in mind.
