Last week’s episode put them over the edge. This was the one promoted as the big kahuna, in which “answers to three of Lost‘s biggest mysteries are finally revealed.” But by the time the final credits flashed by, message boards at ABC.com, creator JJ Abrams’ Fuselage fansite and other online forums were filled with complaints– since the three “mysteries” were not exactly any of the big questions central to the central to the plane crash story.
After a meandering and molasseslike season, ABC and Lost team keep assuring everyone that all questions will be answered– but in this case, they threw a couple of suits to the lions.ABC Entertainment’s marketing chiefs Mike Benson and Marla Provencio were left to take the heat on this one. They responded to an e-mail response, insisting the “show delivered the answers to the three questions that were posed in the promo, which we believe are questions on our viewers minds.
“We have the utmost respect for Lost viewers. Our intention is never to alienate, only to entice.”
Maybe the promo boys were as frustrated as the fans, and their over-hype was a passive-aggressive meansof getting the writers to stop mucking around and cut to the chase(s).
