???Questions???
The sixth & final season of LOST premieres tonight on ABC. The producers are assuring us that all our questions will be answered. Oh really? I’ve been going over some of the events that have gotten us to this point & I DO need some answers. How about you?
4 8 15 16 23 42 = 108 Could it be that simple?
Those frikkin’ numbers have haunted me since they first appeared. A lot was made of them the first two seasons, but they lost their significance after the hatch imploded. That is until Hurley saw them being stamped into the “future” hatch. Will we find out what they really mean or is this “beating a dead horse” type thing? I will be pissed if it is!
The healing of John Locke… why him & not others?
If the island has the power to heal John’s crippled legs EVERY time he hurts them & rid Rose of her cancer, then why didn’t it heal Shannon’s asthma so Sayid didn’t have to torture Sawyer for an inhaler? Or for that matter, why didn’t it stop Jack’s appendix from bursting or stop Ben from getting a tumor? Speaking of Ben’s tumor, why didn’t he just go off the island & have an operation? It was proven that he could come & go quite easily. He had money & passports in every name & currency.
Quarantined from what?
What illness struck Danielle Rousseu’s husband & crew? Why did she have to kill them all? What were the injections that were given to Claire? Desmond also injected himself & had a supply of vaccine in the hatch. The vaccine was also included in the food drops. Was this illness a result of “the incident” & why didn’t it affect the Others & the Losties? Was it bullshit? If so, what was wrong with Rousseu’s people?
Where’d this come from?
Speaking of food drops… just where the hell are they coming from? It’s obvious that Ben wiped out what was left of the Dharma people long before the plane crash, so who keeps dropping the food silently, without anyone hearing a single noise? And if Ben knew about the drops, why didn’t he have Others there to retrieve it?
Hidden in plain sight?
Why was Ben so surprised to find out about this boat? It seems he knew everything that happened on the island. Why didn’t he know about Kelvin fixing up this boat? This is one question I don’t think will ever be answered. But it still nags me.
What’s with all this baby stuff?
Why is Aaron so important? And where the hell did Claire go? Is she dead? I don’t think so, but she’s obviously not with the Others either. So where is she?
Maybe it’s Maybelline?
This question is a biggie. Why doesn’t Richard age? I’m sure the writers will answer this one. What do you think? A fountain of youth? And where does Richard come from? I think he’s from the ship, the Black Rock. Maybe it’s captain? What will he do when he finds out that Ben has killed Jacob & John Locke has BBQ’d him?
From This…
…To This
What is the story behind the Black Rock? Why was it found by the Losties so far inland on the island? Why are Ben & Widmore so obsessed with it’s captain’s log & the original painting of the ship itself? Why was it full of dynamite?
The lesser of two evils?
This rivalry between Charles Widmore & Ben Linus definitely goes back aways. Charles told Ben: “Everything you have, you took from me.” Is Charles the head of the Hanso Foundation?
Are they accepting applications?
What part does this foundation have in the islands secrets? Are they trying to get back what the Dharma Initiative started? Are they the ones dropping the food on the island? If so, then why would they? They must know that all the Dharma people are dead, don’t they? Does Richard work for them? Is “Charles in Charge”?
Why?
The fact that the writer’s jumped a shark with Pablo & Nikki, doesn’t make it any easier to ask… why at all? I’m just glad they were buried alive. Will they return? I hope not.
Who controls the Smoke Monster?
When the smoke monster killed Eko, everyone was totally shocked. Eko would not repent for his sins of the past & the monster proceeded to pound him off every tree on the island. Why? Is he the redemption god? And who controls him? We know that Ben can summon him, as he did when his daughter Alex was killed, but he also had to stand before it to be judged when it shape-shifted into his daughter. She informed him that he must follow Locke. So that makes us wonder just what or who it is?

Adam & Eve?
…or Rose & Bernard?
Remember the cave? Remember Jack finding the two skeletons? He also found a pouch with a black & a white stone in them. What was the significance of them? Who were these bodies and will we ever find out? Some have speculated that they are Rose & Bernard, who took up residence in Jacob’s cabin after the time skipping left them separated from everyone else. Now that I’m thinking of Bernard, I’m wondering what was the point of the whole tail section storyline. Everyone from that part of the plane is dead now, except Bernard. And they never gave Miguel his eyeball!
Gone but not forgotten.
Where are those damn kids? We’ve seen glimpses of them, but where are they now? They certainly aren’t with John, making the trek to “see” Jacob. Cynthia has disappeared too. When dead Locke & Ben return, it’s been three years, but the kids would still be kids, right? At least the boy anyways. The girl would be around Alex’s age.
One & the same?
Are Locke and Jack’s dad Christian both the Man in Black? The theory is that TMIB had taken over Christian’s dead body when the plane crashed on the island & now he has taken John Locke’s body as his own. Could this be true? Remember Christian is the one who told John he had to die to get back to the island. Richard also said the same thing. What does that mean… that he can not exist in his own true form & why if that’s true? Jacob seems to have maintained the same body for a very long time. Why not TMIB?
Why didn’t he ever take off his tie?
Daniel Faraday is the one new addition to the LOST storyline that I really enjoyed watching. So why did he have to die? Will he return? Will we get to find out more about him & his mother’s relationship? Did she know that she was going to kill him? Did his calculations set things back so that none of the things from the past happened at all?
WTF?
What about these two? Are they really the ones that have been controlling everything that’s happened on the island? If that’s what it turns out to be, I will be totally pissed off. This is the LAST thing I want it to be. Super gods manipulating the free will of the masses? LAME!
Will this never happen?
What about Ben? Is he really “one of the good guys”?
And is this who’s really in control of it all?
These are just a few of the massive amount of questions I have. I still want to know about Walt & why we had to endure that obnoxious Michael for all those seasons screaming his name & for what. What powers did Walt have that the Others wanted so badly? Why didn’t anyone ever ask Ben what they wanted with him? Why could he conjure up polar bears & did he at all, or were they just escapees from the Hydra?
…and those whispers, the ones that seem to happen just before something traumatic is about to happen. Who’s doing all that whispering & why? Are they Jacob & TMIB? Are the people on the island part of a huge observation experiment?
Simple black & white answers?
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some answers. Are you? What questions do you have that you want answered? Do you want Kate with Sawyer or Jack? Did the hydrogen bomb fix everything so the incident never happens? Are we going to be blown away after the first episode? Are you as sad as I am that this show is coming to an end?
If you like it, spread it!:

PHENOMINAL post, chooch. i think every true, hardcore LOST fan will appreciate every question you raised. very thorough.
i did read something from damon that said the adam and eve skeltons WILL be addressed and it will be proof that the show knew where it was going from day 1. i have to say, i’m worried some of the more intriguing questions from seasons 1 and 2 will be ignored in light of the new hydrogen bomb-era developments.
here’s a question i have: ben says (as henry gale) that the swan hatch is a joke and manipulates locke into not pushing the button anymore. why? did it benefit him to not have the electromagnetic anamoly on the island anymore? did he know what would happen if it didn’t get pushed (because we know he DID push it when john was trapped under the blast door)? it seemed to me every one was a little disconcerted when “the sky turned purple,” so did the others truly know about the swan?
YES!
It’s my birthday and I CANNOT wait until tonight!
Thank you thank you Chooch for organizing the spinning questions in my head. I kind of went into the “ignorance is bliss” mode because this show is so swirling and confusing. I’m happy it will end up neat and tidy!
LOVE this post!! Looks like we have a couple of questions answered- like where the stewardess and the kids went- but of course with Lost, with every answer comes a million more questions. Gotta love this show.
