Million Dollar Listing LA Minicap

Welcome back to another episode of “Million Dollar Listing LA.” This one was pretty low on drama. There were a lot of rich people getting richer.

In happier news, Madison has a new assistant! Her name is Paige, and I already love her. She didn’t say much, she didn’t dress like a hooker, and she did not refer to herself as a “rock star.” In other words, she is not Heather. It’s wonderful.

JF helps a neighbor sell his apartment. Grandma Edith even makes an appearance and checks out the property. We need her insights on more properties.

We also get to see JA fail. It was pathetic and satisfying at the same time to see him cuddling sadly on the couch with his dog.

The full recap will be up in a full days. Until then, take a look at last week’s recap

I actually felt bad for JA (forgive me!), but Heather was right. He made a stupid mistake.

He seems to have a knack for doing unusual things (as does JF) in order to pull in the brokers & buyers. And the seller was a bit of an a-hole, but I would be offended by JA’s suggestion.

Grandma Edith – HAHAHAHAHA! What a riot! Too bad she’s 93, she would be a great star for another reality show!

I was OK with JA until he dropped the “I don’t need this listing” bomb. Yes, JA, you do. Your entire business is about getting the listing.

I don’t think it should matter that Grandma Edith is 93! Let’s just give her one hour a week where she can talk to viewers. That would be awesome.

I don’t know about JA “needing” the listing. Why put in the time, effort, and expense to try to move a property when the owner wants more than it’s worth? He said on WWHL a week or two ago that he had already sold $88 million. With a 6% commission that’s over 5 million. I know he has to give some of that up to the firm he is working for, but I’d be taking the rest of the year off if it were me. If I could bring in over a million for a few months work, then I don’t need to work all year round. I’m also a little suspicious that this whole thing was scripted anyway since the seller allowed his phone conversation to be televised when JA called him back.

It’s my understanding, cranky, that these listings/deals are pretty much in the can ahead of time, and then they ask the seller &/or buyer if they’d be interested in being on tv (signing all the requisite forms of course), and then they create drama around the deal.

How much of that producer that wants way too much was scripted, though, would be interesting to find out.

I’d like to see more of Altman losing sales and having shitty days.

    I hate him.

JF and Edith Ned their own show. I want them to take us on their world trip. This needs to happen, BRAVO. Also, she needs to live forever.

JA and Heather – go away. I do enjoy watching him fail and seeing how creatively he is (not) hiding his bald head.

Paige rocks and makes me almost pay attention during the Madison scenes. He’s pretty but zzzzzzzz.

The dogs are all adorable. I’m a sucker for animals.

I still miss Chaddycakes. But not Ickybabycakes.

When Grandma Edith was talking about tits and how young girls can’t dress all they do is show tits..was she talking about Heather?

Wow, Maurice, I didn’t know u went to school w/ Heather.

If u didn’t, then I guess I were the school bully. Because there’s no reason to call her a slut for sleeping w/her long-term boyfriend.

And I’m no fan of heather or JA.

@hutchlover: 100% agree with you. I don’t like JA or Heather based on how they are on the show. In fact, I would be pretty happy if they weren’t on the show at all. However, I don’t think calling them “sluts” or even “losers” is appropriate. Clearly, they are both very successful people – whether we like them or not. Also, it’s just completely uncalled for to refer to someone as a “slut” for sleeping with someone with whom they are in a long-term relationship.

I caught the tail end of this episode, but one thing that bothered me was that JF’s mom was complaining that 10 days in Asia is not enough time. Enough time for what? Now, I don’t have exact context for the phone call, but I kept thinking what the hell? JF, take me to Asia for 10 days!

Anytime JA fails, it’s worth seeing his crestfallen deer-in-headlights crooked smile, because, frankly, he doesn’t seem used to not being successful and it’s nice that even rich people fail. Juxtaposing it with the guy who doesn’t sell his condo in JF’s building and JF, while pissed, still manages to have a personable attitude and charm enough to stay on good terms with the guy.

Here’s hoping Paige can make Madison more interesting. He can’t do it on his own, his brother can’t, his parents can’t, Heather couldn’t, so there’s a lot of pressure on her to do the unthinkable. Not make me fast forward through his scenes!

@Derek: 10 days to Asia really isn’t a lot of time. My aunt goes back and forth from the New Zealand to the US every two years (she’s lived in NZ the past 15 years or so). She always has to take at least 3 weeks for the trip to be worth it. The travel alone causes her to lose a few days. Then she has to get used to the major time difference. I imagine it’s much the same for a trip to Asia. Perhaps JF’s mom doesn’t deal with the time difference very well. Either way, I think JF should take us all to Asia!

I think JA takes business-related rejection personally. Although JF was angry that he didn’t get the listing from Glenn, he was able to recognize that it was a professional thing and not personal at all. It’s why I like JF a lot – he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

If Paige can make Madison more interesting, we should just give her her own show!

@Everyone: I’m working on the full recap. I have another procedure today for my kidney ordeal. Once I get home from that, I can focus 100% on the recap. I’m hoping it will be up this evening. Thanks for all your patience! :)

@PopePhilly, I didn’t take into consideration what you’re saying about the time difference, but that does seem like a reasonable explanation. I would just like to go to Asia for 10 days regardless of time differences and such and for her to reject it because it was too short a trip seemed ridiculous to me. But then, I’m not wealthy and have nothing better to do than to complain about a vacation my son is planning for me being too short. Considering I just started a new job and I only get 10 days of vacation a year, it seemed like a perfectly decent length of time to me. Then again, I am a hater!

Good luck with your procedures and take it easy. There will be enough time for the rest of the season to clown Madison and JA, while simoultaneously loving JF and Grandma Edith.
