I was floored by Madison asking for a 30% referral fee. I’m wondering why anybody would give him more than 10%. I’m thinking about selling a house, so I wonder if I can get a 30% kickback from the commission as my referral fee to compensate me for having to find the broker that will sell the house. I totally deserve it.

Yeah, cranky, I thought that was a lot, as well. I’ve never been in real estate, but I still thought even 25% was high. Then again, Julie’s getting an insane amount of money on a $2.25M deal.

Grandma Edith is a fricking riot!!! I wish she wasn’t 93. I worry about her and her affect on JF when she passes. And I thought JF’s attitude toward Colton was pretty shitty. I can understand that he wants Colton to just do it, but the way he talked to him bothered me. I worry about that relationship.

JF thinks the apartment is great. I’m kind of wondering why there would be two full bathrooms in a one bedroom apartment.

I thought the exact same thing! But you’re right him changing one bedroom to a den, kinda makes sense. Heck, though I had a couple of two bedroom apartments that only had one bath.

So far, Paige is kinda sweet and smart. Good luck to her.

@Hutchlover, I totally didn’t get JF having a shitty attitude. I read that whole scene that JF was pretty much being sarcastic and that Colton already knew that the interior design was his project and, in his JF way, was saying that Colton had creative license to do what he wanted. But, then, I’m fluent in sarcastic asshole.

@PopePhilly, maybe we can get Bravo to greenlight “Around the World with JF & Grandma Edith.” I think that show would have to get higher ratings than Pregnant in Heels, right? :-)

@Crankyguy, I’m with you & Hutchlover on the 30% is too much for a referral fee. I understand that Mama & Papa Hildebrand wanted to hook their son up, but getting $18,000 for a google search seems a little unfair. But, looking at Chez Hildebrand, I don’t think $18,000 is considered that much money to them.

@Derek: I don’t care if JF is on the show at all. I just want to spend an hour each week listening to Grandma Edith talk about anything she wants. Although it would be awesome to see her in a foreign country!

“Let’s play a game. What’s the difference between Glenn’s one bedroom and PopePhilly’s one bedroom?” I know, you haven’t skinned your cats for a rug yet? :)

Either way Julie is making way into the five figures without doing any work. Remember this listing was handed to her so the 25% may seem high, but for almost $100k, I would share. She is smart, as there is future repeat business to think about.

JF is trying way too hard to look older with the scruff.

I soo share the love for JF & Edith it seems like “you can’t have one without the other”…I loved how calm JF was when she snooped all over the apt..and to see her roll around on the bed! Great stuff!!!
I don’t think JF was being awful to Colt. he said do what you want ..how I wish my husband would say that to me..when I “decorate” ie: buy something new ..he likes to “OK” it..a real pain in the ass..I wish someone would say to me do what you want.. I just think JF has matured into a calmer more sensitive person..and I love his laid back sense of humor..
Now I really can’t stand the heather /JA duo..they are such awful and ugly people..inside and out…even if they got a two for one deal on nose jobs ..they would still be ugly! Now I am onto Phil Hillbrand to see just waht he did for a living CEO of what…whatever it is it is nice to see another loving family…Josh A(asshole) must come from the worst part of Boston..me thinks he didn’t come from the same types of upper income backgrounds as JF and MH..because he is such a money grubbing whore..loved to see him lose the listing..his puffy little boy face was priceless

I just found some web site that quoted these agents net worth..for what it is worth Edith Flagg is worth about 100 million…I love it , because she deserves every penny!
BTW JA was a kicker @ Syrcuse -sp. University..who the hell would ever admit to that?!..what a stupid thing to be..wonder if the real men on the team ever hazed him? He is a big asshole!

@TV Junkie: I don’t doubt that Edith is worth that much! Everything about her past that JF has told us about her just makes me admire her more and more. She really is a fascinating woman – along with her entertainment value. JF should write her biography. I would definitely buy it.

I’m not a huge fan of hazing, so I don’t wish that on JA. However, since it may have already happened and he came out of it unscated, I can smile knowing he might have been hazed a little.

Someone sent me an interview with JA and Madison that was on YouTube. As soon as I have the interwebs back at home (hooray for the DC storm last Friday), I’ll watch it. If it’s any good, I’ll be sure to post it.

@Labowner: I would never need to skin Lindsey (the cat) to make a rug. Her shedding/being brushed yields enough extra fur for me to make several new pets! Especially now that it’s summer time.

@TV Junkie (again because I didn’t see your last post…haha): I agree with the JF/Colton moment. I seem to remember JF mentioning that Colton could decorate a place for someone. Maybe that’s his thing. Do we know his occupation? I can’t remember right now – maybe he is an interior decorator for a living. If he’s good at it like JF has insinuated, maybe he just trusts Colton’s judgment and knows it will turn out great. I think he was just snippy because he was trying to leave for a meeting (across the hall) and Colton was asking for his opinion on things.

Josh Flagg did write a book about Edith found on Amazon..called A SIMPLE GIRL
..(OMG there is nothing simple about her)!!!.
The book got good reviews and she had a difficult but interesting life..she was in the Dutch Underground during the war and her first husband was killed in a “camp”.
I think I will buy it on my Kindle for the beach……will let you all know how it is..;)

Thank you for that info!!!! I’m going to see if Barnes & Noble has it for Nook. If not, I’ll just buy it hard copy. I want to read it anyway. :)

OK, as much as I love JF, this exists:

B & N doesn’t have A Simple Girl for Nook. Hard copy it is!

@PopePhilly, I’m not sure if this is your first season of watching MDL, but in a previous season, they showed Madison’s lecture series regarding his book in front of his peers and college students and he’s a pretty awful public speaker (unless he’s improved since that time). I think it was Season 2 of MDL, because I believe Chad was still a cast member at the time.

I watched in passing in previous seasons. Because of being relatively broke, I’Ve only had a TV for about a year. Feel free to make fun of me for these small revelations.

It does get cold enough in LA for fireplaces. The closer to the coast, the cooler it gets at night. Also, it’s cooler in the hills because of the elevation. Most of my friends who live in LA don’t use AC unless it’s really hot. I know 50′F doesn’t sound very cold, but it is cold here. As for the 2 bathrooms, a lot of 1 bedroom condos have a full bath (for guest/everyday use) and then a master bath as part of the master suite.
Awesome recap! And thanks for the heads up on Grandma Edith’s book. I will definitely buy!
