Millionaire Matchmaker Recap: Alpha Beta Shonda

Greg is Angela’s ex, and he’s interviewed on this brief intro, too. He speaks of his vested interest in who Angela dates, since they have a son together. Angela’s totally cool with it, since they’ve been together forever and he knows her so well. Patti loves that Destin and Rachel got the ex to speak up and help Angela out. And please remember that this is all bullshit because she’s just here to get a peer’s take on relationship coaching.

Patti is driven to a restaurant to meet up with Angela. She’s worried that Angela’s alpha-ness is going to make it hard for her to be set up. Why doesn’t Angela set herself up, since she’s a dating guru? Oh, that’s right, publicity. Doesn’t she know that no one watches this show anymore?

Anyway, I LOL when Patti wears sunglasses to her meeting with Angela. She didn’t wear them in the car on a sunny day, and she didn’t wear them when she’s being driven around after this meeting…just during the meeting. Oh, Patti. Don’t let Angela out-alpha you.

We leap right into Angela’s extended intro, which explains her blog a teensy bit more (still calling it a “lifestyle blog”). We meet her son, and we watch her sign the inside cover of her book with a big black marker! Go buy the book, peeps! I won’t tell you what it’s called, you should have watched the show more closely!

Patti and Angela chat it out, starting off with Angela’s ex. Patti thinks it’s so cool that he’s involved. In fact, she asks if Greg will come out to LA to help with choosing the guys. Angela’s up for that.

And then Why Love Now? Angela thinks it’s time to be with someone. Patti asks if the Boca/LA distance will be a problem, and of COURSE it won’t—this is never meant to be an actual match! Buy her book, Patti!

(Now the question is, does Angela reciprocate and mention Patti in any of her articles or appearances?)

They talk about Angela’s dating proclivities, namely that she’s attracted to Ari Gold, not Brad Pitt. Angela just loves that aggressive energy and fully mows down beta males when she runs across them. Alpha males come at her head on and keep her in check, which she appreciates.

And now it’s time to meet up with Shonda. Along the way, Patti calls Greg (Angela’s ex) to invite him to LA for the date auditions. He laughs and agrees to come. Also, Patti is NOT wearing sunglasses. See?? Also, I’m pretty sure Patti’s driver is just driving around one neighborhood in circles so there’s not super crappy LA traffic background while she calls.

Finally, Patti arrives (sans sunglasses) at a bar where she’s meeting Shonda. Blasting off right into the extended intro, we meet Shonda Lewis more fully. She’s the CEO and founder of RockStarBikini (getting some publicity tonight as well—I wonder what her site analytics revealed once her show aired?), and I think she’s also a real estate agent in Columbus, OH. That’s what Google says, anyway.
