MiniCap: Boardwalk Empire

Happy Boardwalk Empire Easter, Gasmii! Did anyone else feel like this was one, long fever dream until the crazy came to town?

On the plus side, Richard got to leave the House of Seven Gables and take Tommy with him for Easter Dinner. Unfortunately, he took Tommy to the Sagorsky house and found out that having half your face blown off in the war may not have been the worst injury to return with. He also forgets that people can actually hear him and not everyone’s as forgiving about the whole killing thing, but he manages to leave with no bloodshed then has a rather lovely and yet painfully awkward moment with Julia and Tommy.

Also on the plus side, Nucky and Margaret take the kids to Eli and June’s so they can see how people who value each other over money, power and prestige live. Margaret is touched into TMI’ing to June, who’s all “Ummm….you know he’s my brother-in-law who kept me and my 392 kids afloat while Eli was in prison, right?” but still manages a comforting, if fleeting, shoulder squeeze while looking for a cake plate. Meanwhile Nucky shows just why, no matter what Eli plots or plans, he’ll always be the more awful brother. But they manage to have a rather sweet moment at the end after Nucky and Margaret share a heartbreakingly bittersweet moment of their own.

Then on the totally not plus side. Gillian concocts a melodramatic ruse to get Richard to clear out the house on Easter so she can lure notJimmy over. It starts out well enough but Gillian’s watching him like a hawk and acting all Stevie Nicksian, so you know something’s up. They bone then Gillian gets the brilliant idea to take a bath. NotJimmy’s all “Fine by me” and then, yeah. Gillian’s gone around yet another bend.

Finally on the OMGWTF side, Gyp does his best Tony Manero impression in his house full of Italian fishwives. He still lives at home with his mother and about five sturdy sisters, none of whom appreciate his casual dinner attire, but he has to be careful not to ruin his best, new doubleknit shirt before he goes to 2001 Odyssey. Gyp doesn’t have an older brother who’s a priest so he goes down to a church to bully one.  Then he has a “fateful” conversation with Masseria that isn’t going anywhere but let’s pretend it does.
