Jabby cried the day the circus came to town…
Oh my goodness, you guys. I think I’ve become too emotionally involved in this show. I almost cried twice this week.
So, we are in NYC to rehearse for the big exclusive Joffrey Ballet School audition, which is so exclusive that the sub-par Candy Apple’s are also trying out. They (Jabby’s girls and the Candy Apple’s) also go to the Starbound competition in Paramus, NJ where shit gets REAL.
Pyramid: Paige is last, followed by Mackenzie in a VERY CUTE multicolored leopard dance outfit, then Chloe. Second row we have Nia and Brooke, with Miss Maddie on the top for the fifth week in a row.
Jabby screams almost the entire episode about how important everything is and how much pressure the girls are under and how they’d better not screw up and embarrass her, when in fact, it is she who ends up embarrassed.
Crazy Cathy is back, nutty as ever, and almost gets all the moms kicked out of the Joffrey audition. Well, not really. But they do get reprimanded for acting less mature than their pre-teen daughters.
In NJ, the Crazy Apple’s beat Jabby’s girls by one point, to come in ninth place. Yes, ninth place. Which means our girls came in tenth. Jabby can’t handle the humiliation of losing so horribly to Cathy and breaks DOWN. But that’s not all. Chloe gets the Joffrey scholarship (yay Chloe!) which throws Maddie into a tailspin and SHE FORGETS HER DANCE and runs off stage. She then proceeds to freak the fuck out and I feel really bad for her. But not as bad as Jabby, who bawls throughout the rest of the episode. Naturally, the moms call her out for not getting so upset when their daughters forgot their dances and Jabby can’t take it and leaves altogether.
Kendall and Chloe are up against each other (or so we are led to believe – I don’t know if they are actually in the same age group), both doing numbers in which they are the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. Kendall comes in seventh and Chloe wins overall. So it’s a good week for Team Chloe. But I really do feel terrible for Maddie because it’s clear she has a tough row to hoe with all the bullshit she has to put up with. Also, Maddie’s real name is Madison and not Madeline as I had thought.
Come on back in a couple of days for the full recap, or you can read last week’s recap here or the Dance Moms Miami mincap here.
Thanks for reading and have great day!

The competition results were all accurate this week.
http://www.starbound.net/StarboundAdmin/UploadImages/ContentMgmImages/Paramus%20Winners%202012.pdf
Is the size of Jabby’s photo on the front page a fat joke?
Hearing the Joffe comments was a breath of fresh air reality. The best the girls could offer, even Chloe, was “natural talent.” And poor Maddie, “We can see you’re quite the showgirl.” How they winced every time the girls smiled cutesily at them!
In a deleted scene on lifetimes website, the competition director comes & asks Maddie if she would like another chance. Maddie is too shaken up, says “thank you for asking but no” and Abby says that no, she doesn’t let her girls try again. The director says that they allow second chances, and Abby said “I’m her teacher, no second chances.”
It was rotten.
I never realized that Holly had such muscular arm! Impressive.
It was pretty crappy that Abby cried and then gave Maddie a hug after forgetting her routine when all she did was snipe at Chloe and Nia for doing it.
I felt bad for Maddie not only because she forgot her routine (has to be completely humiliating), but that it looks like she got a complete princess edit for this entire show and then on this episode we got the truth from the Joffe folks (She’s got the showmanship, but not much else) and from Melissa (most mothers don’t turn 0 to bitch that quick all of a sudden – this is probably something that was going on all along but we never saw it). Did Maddie really have a lot of pressure on her or was it all an act because Melissa had the best mom story so they were trying to pump Maddie up and they just couldn’t get around it this competition?
And WTH, Crazy Apples? Talk about unprofessional. Her husband might own the House of Jerk but she doesn’t have to take on that attribute, you know.
Chicken Lips, you’re killin me. Zero to bitch and the bit about Carazy Cathy taking on “that attribute” has me in stitches.
That said, I agree wholeheartedly but I’d like to throw this one thing out there. I think Jabby lost it when Cathy came in and taunted them. And Maddy just put the cherry on the crap cake. Plus maybe she’s PMSing. But I think it killed her more that Cathy beat them than Maddy effed up her number. It was just the culmination, if you will, of her shakily built shit-castle coming down.
I took great pleasure in the fact that when Kendall finished her dance, her skirt was completely backwards. I’m going to Hell! Was that one of Candy Apple’s girls who had the purple eye shadow up to her hairline?
I’m thrilled Chloe is coming into her own.
I saw that! I was thinking the SAME thing! I thought it was kinda funny that that guy snapped back to her. He was trying to be nice and I think it is great he was offering her another chance. I can’t believe Abby was so rude to him! She was just pissed Chloe was doing way better than Maddie on everything! It was sweet that Maddie thanked the nice man for offering her another chance. The kids have way better manners than the parents, go figure.
I knew the ballet thing would not go well for anyone but Chloe. I called that on the comments last week remember?
Honestly Abby should chill about Crazy Apples beating her once by one point. How many times did Abby beat her by way more than a point?! Tons! It was a fluke, chill out
Maddie also received a scholarship to Jofree, it wasn’t on the show though.
Melissa pissed me off! WTF happened that caused her to suddenly punish Maddie? It was not long after Christi got the phone call.
Yay, Chloe!
Does Cathy’s jealousy of Chloe know no bounds? Cathy and Shrill need to stop with this b.s. It isn’t fair to Kendall.
I have been to zero dance auditions, yet somehow I knew what the girls should be wearing. How’s it the moms didn’t know?
I think Abby’s tears were due to more than one factor.
Exactly April! Who cares that the Crazy Apples beat them once by a point? And the 2 teams were 9th and 10th so who really cares? And is Abby’s reputation really ruined by losing once? Get a grip.
And why can’t Abby learn that when she choreographs a dance that is too “mature” (i.e.slutty) for these kids, they ALWAYS lose. It happened once last season, with the fan dance and now. I think that’s what Holly was alluding to when she mentioned “Electricity” – I think that was season 1′s slutty dance.
And if this competition was soooo important, why didn’t they use a dance they had already done and work on that? No one else is learning new dances all the time. It’s crazy.
April, good points. But, I think the big props and it being so deriative of Chicago also hurt. I think Abby may’ve realized she screwed up in multiple ways.
Gloating over ninth place by one point was so nutty I would’ve laughed at her.
Oops… I meant Jazzy. Well, both.
Yes, April, I remember.
So all that falling apart was over NOTHING?
I thought Melissa was freaking out because Maddie was about to come across as a spoiled little brat over Chloe getting that call. I think she’s generally pretty passive so she goes way overboard when tries to assert any authority. And I think Jabby had reason to cry about Maddie flubbing that routine on top of not getting a call from Joffree. Her studio is dependent on Melissa’s fiancee’s money, right? If she fails Maddie there’s a lot at stake.
This was the first episode in a long time that felt real to me. Cathy’s scripted shenanigans seemed to belong to another show. The moms and Abby were like, “That joke isn’t funny anymore.”
Woohoo Chloe! I haven’t watched this yet, but I’m so glad for Chloe. If Maddie had a rough time, it’s probably a good lesson for her. The sooner perfectionists learn that that’s a losing bet, the better. Yeah, those cheesy faces don’t fly in ballet!
This is the full group routine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANBxKPSjXiE&feature=player_embedded
It lost because it was a mess!! No one was together, the moves were sloppy, and they didn’t know what they were doing. I don’t think it being inappropriate had anything to do with it. Personally I didn’t find it inappropriate at all.
Okay, for some reason this has not made it to itunes yet, and you can’t watch it on lifetime either…does anyone know how I can watch it?? 12 episodes of trash TV foreplay and no orgasm? Not cool!
Abby’s talk with Maddie about perfect people having no room to grow was surprisingly wise. And ironic considering all the bullshit about “staying on top of the pyramid” week after week.
Probably not, I wouldn’t put it pass the producers to intentionally route that call at that very moment & hold back the fact that Maddie got one too for added drama. It looks like Melissa wasn’t in on that plan because she was visibly upset too, but I saw setup written all over that scene. And while Abby was upset about Maddie, she CLEARLY had some other issues going on to cause that breakdown.
Maddie was offered the Joffrey Scholarship the same day as the audition. Obviously they give more than one. If Chloe would have been given the opportunity, and Maddie had not, Christi would’ve gone ape-shit crazy with delight! …. And I love Nia, but does Holly really think her daughter is Joffrey level? She drives me crazy! I don’t want to dog Nia, but what is Holly thinking? Does she WATCH the group numbers? Nia’s technique is sloooowly getting better, but she has a long way to go. And speaking of technique, does anyone else think Kendall has gotten worse? Her posture has gotten so bad I can actually SEE the osteoarthritis developing….And please, dear God, free Vivvy!
I guessed you missed the interview where Holly said she knows Nia had no chance of getting one but she didn’t want to discourage her & she will always support her daughter in whatever she chooses to do. I have a completely different view of her than you do. I’ve always thought that Nia is ‘in on’ the shenanigans more than any of the other girls (especially this season) & I attribute that to Holly being smart enough to really explain what was going on to her daughter. She definitely threw herself in some of the fake drama, but again, I don’t think that was to the detriment of her daughter.
Yes, you’re right! I didn’t see that interview! Sorry! But I just think that Holly pushes for too much. If you watch the tape of the last group dance, Nia is offbeat for the entire routine. And her legs are always bent, & toes/feet just dangle! Mackenzie has already surpassed her! And I realize that all teams have a strongest AND a weakest member. I just wish Holly would be more aware & accepting of Nia’s weaknesses, and concentrate on fixing them, rather than pushing for Nia to do more. Like more ballet & technique classes, instead of solos & trios….. She always says, “I wish Abby/the judges would see what I see!” It really needs to be reversed. Right?
I just read a blog written by one of the cheerleading moms at Brooke’s school. Apparently the school, team, mom’s, & girls are very unhappy after finding out that Brooke/The Hyland Family never had any intentions of breaking their “Dance Moms” contract by allowing Brooke to cheer & leave the show….. I’m not surprised. Anyone who doesn’t believe these shows are scripted, should talk to Kris Humphries! LOL!
Oh ABSOLUTELY! Holly does wear mom-colored glasses & she HAS to see that Nia is out of her league, right? I was just pointing out the fact that she did acknowledge that Joffery was out of Nia’s ability level. She is adorbs, & has the potential to be a great little dancer, but she is so blatantly behind all the other girls in most of the routines that it’s cringe worthy! I hope that she is realistic in actuality & playing up the ‘just as good’ thing for the cameras because there is no way she can watch those performances & think that Nia is on the other girls’ level. Even lil Mack out danced her in that last routine.
where is the blog you read about Brooke? I’d love to read it!
haha I hope that didn’t make me sound like a bitch! I was just being silly.
Yeppers. I also noticed the too mature dances always lose. Yet the cutesy easy dance like Bad Apples clean up. Because that is what judges want out of little cute girls, cute dances, not slut shows!
You’re so right! And because Nia is so sweet & genuine, she’s the one I’m really pulling for! And I give Holly props for TRYING to be supportive, I just don’t think she knows how! I grew up in foster care, and often wonder if I could have acheived more as a dancer/gymnast, if I had a mother in there fighting for me!
Really? I thought that the whole tryout was all staged. The girls’ traveling tutor, Audra, was the one judging the competition.
I am honestly glad I did not have a little girl. I wanted one SO badly so she could dance like I did. But, I would have probably ended up an evil stage mother. Like if Nia was my daughter I would have a hard time being a mom instead of a dance teacher and trying to not point out my daughter’s mistakes. It was for the best.
My sons did hip hop classes one Summer for little boys but nothing huge came of it. I would still like them to do some more of that because I want to raise men that can dance because women love that! But I don’t think I would be so hard on them as I would if I had a little girl.
Poor Kendall. I don’t notice the bad posture, but I also was a dancer with scoliosis that developed during puberty and occasionally a judge would mention it on a tape. It was nothing I could do about it. I still was an awesome dancer. I got the back of an old woman now in my 30s. I hope she doesn’t end up like me.
I guess that was it, but it just seemed Maddie was stressing out and Mel was adding to it. I thought Maddie wanted her phone or her makeup to take her mind off things.
In the background of a scene that I believe comes after the phone call, Chloe and Maddie are sitting at Chloe’s makeup station and seem fine. I forget what is going on in the foreground, mom drama probably. But, the foreground action is what made me think it was later.
Abby seemed weirdly disconnected from certain things going on this episode. First, the embarrassment of being scolded at the Joffrey Ballet. Oh, wait, before that all the girls showing up dressed for anything besides ballet (I smell producers). Then the J auditions. Then encountering harpy Cathy.
Then off to competition and things just are a mixed bag from the start. Chloe gets the call (yay), but the group number isn’t quite geling.
Then the red queen duplication which tells her someone (Melissa? The producers?) Sold out Chloe’s routine which was weird even though Chloe did a great job. But, when Christi was going on about having so little time to stuff Chloe into the thing, Abby looked at it as if she’d never seen it before.
Poor Maddie was just crushed. All the kids are upset when they forget their routines, but Maddie’s heart seemed to be broken. And so did Abby’s although there just seemed to be something else going on with Abby.
When Cathy pranced in to gloat over losing by one less point, Abby called her “satan.” And not the same way she called her a worm.
The way Abby was sobbing about her ruined reputation was making me think someone said she couldn’t come back to Starbound or some such thing. Then, Maddie messes up and i can easily imagine Cathy telling Mel that Abby screwed up Maddie’s training. Mel’s married bf might nix that, but even the thought of losing her best dancer to crazyC has to be rough.
I also wonder if there are personal issues going on that weren’t shown.
The scholarship Maddie got was to a more inclusive secon-tier type of summer program which is shorter and less intensive and doesn’t have the higher-up teachers as the intensive program, so Chloe still did better…and Maddie and Melissa knew it!
You have to give it to Crazy Cathy for unabashedly stuffing her pudgy cake hole with pizza in a ballet studio! She is such a peasant. She’s beyond bitch, and I really think she has some kind of personality disorder. I wouldn’t put it past Melissa to have been the one to leak Chloe’s coustume to Cathy, but all that does is give the judges reason to judge Kendall against Chloe and that isn’t ever going to work in Kendall’s favor!
I’m sure it was the producers who gave Cathy the idea, not Melissa. It doesn’t make sense that Melissa would tell her, friend or not Melissa KNOWS that Chloe is better than Kendall. Let’s not forget that Cathy has done this before when she had Taylor go up against Chloe with the same song. Last time Cathy said that she “looked up the schedule online” and decided to use the same song. With that logic she could have looked it up online again and went from there. Their music was not the same song but very similar and there are only so many different costumes you can do for Queen of Hearts. It sounded like it was last minute too since Kendall said she was never measured for the costume.
I thought it was really sad that CHLOE finally gets some positive news and shows that she is actually the better dancer…(although smiley facial wise you are good Maddie..so maybe clown dancing is for you?) and ABBY never once congratulated her!! You know she was informed that Chloe was invited…and Abby as her teacher couldn’t say anything?? Now she went all Passive aggressive and told Maddie that people who win stop working for it?? WHILE CHLOE was sitting there and listening??!! That is such BS!!!! what a bitch! IDC if this is scripted or not…what a poor professional Abby is, then she and maddie were making fun of CHLOE’s costume, and if she would have time to get in it..while they snuggled together??? Really Abby??? Maddie is a spoiled egomaniac just like Abby no wonder they are each others favorites…Christi take Chloe out of there and like the real professional told her get her more ballet technique classes. All abby teaches is “tricks” and how to destroy teamwork between her dancers. FREE CHLOE!!!!
We could ALL see Maddie is a lesser dancer when she couldn’t even hold her releve’ in front of the judges when they asked her to. She wobbled and came down so fast, it was an embarrasment.
I don’t think Melissa would’ve suggested that anyone copy Chloe. I just meant, she might have mentioned it to Cathy or Shrill and Cathy/Shrill came up with the scheme. Shrill delusions that Kendall is better than Chloe and everyone else at ALDC. Cathy delusions that Vivi is an excellent dancer.
And Cathy is very underhanded. She knew Chloe messed up and forgot the last bit of her routine the previous competition. I guess she missed the part where if Chloe messes up a routine, she brings it the next time. There’s one competition where Chloe flubs on her solo, then goes out there and kills it in a duet just a little while later.
Anyway, Shrill and Cathy will probably try to find out what Maddie’s wearing/dancing to the next competition thinking this is their chance to beat Maddie. But, it’s not fair to Kendall who comes out not looking so good and has to go along with what her mom and teacher say.
ash, you can watch them on Amazon. That’s where I get them from sometimes.
Where did you find the info on Maddie’s scholarship?
Congratulations to Chloe and Maddie for winning scholarships! Thank you to Brooke, Paige, Nia and Mckenzie for always making us smile through dance. Abby, please watch this episode and learn from it. Holly, Kelly and Christie, don’t change…we love you. Melissa, get over yourself. The other moms are NOT jealous of Maddie. You and Abby just tell yourselves that because neither one of you will admit that Abby treats Maddie better than the other girls.
did anyone else see mackenzie laughing when maddie got in trouble? lol
Melissa was such a blatant megabitch this episode. Either constantly swallowing semen makes you evil or she pregnant and happens to be one of those woman who gets the crazy hormones.
I don’t think either one of the girls really got scholarships. I think the entire Joffrey thing was scripted. Maddie isn’t old enough for Joffrey and they pretty much told her she was a good performer, but needed to be a better dancer.
I can’t remember the other site, but read somewhere that the Joffrey were going to evaluate the dance moms kids. Besides why were Candy Apples and ALDC the only two groups there? Just sounds too scripted to be real. Abby’s site lists only one name for scholarships, and it isn’t Maddie or Chloe.
Yeah, that particular audition WAS set up just for the show, but there isn’t one main audition, they usually do audition tours all over the country, and any studio can request one if they want to pay for travel, so ALDC and Crazy Apples could have legitimately had one together and those kids would have had the same chance for scholarships as the rest of the auditions they do throughout the year.
I think it was just posted today to iTunes, sometimes this show is just late posting for some reason.
I don’t know if anyone else noticed it, but after they got the call about Chloe getting the scholarship in the dressing room they cut over to Maddie staring at Chloe with a super evil look. My husband was like, Ahhh, she is going Black Swan on Chloe! Lol. I have got to see if I can find that scene online so I can do a screenshot.
I saw it. It was so evil that I wondered if the camera people caught a kind of random weird look and then placed it there to look like an evil look directed at Chloe. If it was for real then Maddie has some ISSUES.
I dont care for Nia, she seems a little ‘mentally off”. Also, melissa looks preggers.
I defintley noticed that look!
The whole Joffrey thing wasn’t to the actual Joffrey school, I read that it was just a short summer intensive which is open to a wider range of ages. I have to agree that none of these girls are very strong in ballet, but isn’t that what these summer intensives are for, the girls with natural talent that need more training and direction??
I saw that.
Yes, you are right, but the site says ages 10 and over. I don’t know, maybe lifetime paid joffrey the scholarship money, who rally knows. Chloe could earn it in her own right, but Maddie is definitely more of a performer, not a dancer. She basically does the same routine over and over with only slight changes.
Yesterday, Abby was on twitter just being rude. She was particularly rude to Holly.
Kendall’s costume did not work. If you are going to be doing chin stands and stuff you don’t want a long skirt that is going to get in the way. Chloe’s costume was way better.
I actually think I liked Kendall’s choreography better than Chloe’s but of course Chloe is a much better dancer. I tried to imagine Chloe doing Kendall’s choreography and it seemed awesome in my head. LOL!
OMG did Vivi do anything in that heaven dance?! All I saw was her standing there and then being carried off!!! Hell at least she ran around a bit before. Jesus.l So stupid. At least Mackenzie does most of the stuff. I don’t like just sticking some little kid in there to do nothing to lower your age. I know we talked about this before but this was like the worst case of it yet I think. No wonder they only got 9th overall. As a judge I would count down for that. She didn’t dance at all!!!
I would be kinda miffed if I was a Candy Apple competition dancer and kept having to be stuck with the little kids and would probably know it was bringing our score down. I would think those good older girls would get high scores if they just dance alone with no Justice or Vivi even though Justice is pretty good for his age and being a boy.
Okay I have not watched the entire episode so I could be way off, but I am just throwing this out there. I watched on youtube Maddie’s solo and her messing up and running off stage. I think it was fake. I mean she didn’t even have that moment of “Oh shit, I forgot…” she just stopped mid turn and ran immediately off and then the big hysterics immediately afterward. When something like that happens it takes a minute for it to sink in and I don’t know…..I think it could have been set up. Like they told her to forget.
Honestly I also think Maddie would not run off if she did forget. Abby drills into their heads to just make something up and keep going. Maddie does enough solos she could just start doing another number and it would probably work out. I am having a hard time swallowing it. I really hope it is not set up for Maddie’s sake, but well let’s just say I would not put it past them either.
I was Maddie’s age and for a talent show at school I wanted to do a jazz dance to Vogue. I totally just never even had anything planned. I just went out there and boogied to moves from other dances and moves I knew and from the video and it was pimp! Maybe not good enough for a dance competition but you get my point that you can make stuff up off the top of your head and it be okay.
Am I the only one thinking this?
I personally think Maddie’s reaction was too real for it to be fake and scripted. I think she’s going through the dance in her head…as she’s doing one move, she’s thinking about the next. As she spun she thought about her next move & realized she didn’t know what it was and bolted. I think she just freaked out because this never happened to her before. & Abby drills in it all the girls heads not to run of stage, yet Chloe, Nia, and Paige all did it and ended up in tears. Just because Maddie might technically be better than them she isn’t immune to being upset and running off, just like the other kids her age.
We don’t know if Abby congratulated Chloe or not. Since Christi never said she didn’t, I assume she did. And what she said to Maddie was about people who never make mistakes. Chloe and the rest have all made the same mistake Maddie made so that was obviously not directed at them. I’m not saying Maddie isn’t Abby’s favorite. But I think Maddie’s breakdown backstage added to her not getting into Joff(r)ee (which seemed to be the case at that point) seemed too serious for Abby not to react sincerely to it even though it made her favoritism apparent. And I have to say I kind of admire her for that. Whether or not it’s a circumstance Abby created, Maddie seems to depend on her more than the other girls do. The other moms are always first on the scene to console their daughters, but I’ve never seen Melissa comfort Maddie; in fact, Melissa always reacts very coldly toward Maddie when she gets distressed about something. I’m glad Abby didn’t.
Poor Maddie. She was probably so upset because she though Flabby was going to turn on her for forgetting her dance. After watching how Flabby has treated all the other girls all season, who could blame her for thinking that? Poor kid.
Was super excited for Chloe though, nice to see her win. Loved Holly this episode, she really put Flabby in her place. Can’t wait for the full recap, by the look of all the comments here, I’m not the only one!!
I think Nia seems like a really terrific kid. Sure, it’s unlikely she’ll grow up to be a professional dancer, but she seems like she’s having fun with what she can do. She seems to be a well-rounded kid too- has other interests and activities aside from just dance. I actually really like Nia, and Holly.
Yes, I think that she is much more of a performer… The judge even said, that could have been off of Broadway, which is what she wants to do, or so she says. But, ballet skill are still very important, so if she got to scholarship, then they probably wanted to enhance her skills… Isn’t Chloe 9 as well?
@KRB– Chloe is 10.
Well, the Dance Masters association terminated Abby in mid-February (http://www.dancestudiolife.com/2012/02/dance-masters-of-america-dumps-abby-lee-of-dance-moms). That’s a huge professional blow. It also means she can’t get her studio to compete in Dance Masters-sanctioned competitions now, which is a super big deal.
Now comes my speculation: the finale episode was filmed in February, so maybe Abby had just learned of her termination. Or maybe Cathy had teased her about it.
I, too, really thought Maddies run off looked staged. Like the other poster said she ran off too quickly. No stopping with a look of confusion and panic. She just suddenly stopped mid step and ran off.
Reality shows always start out being somewhat “real”, but that seems to change as ratings increase, and more episodes are ordered. Usually in the 2nd or 3rd season, they always start to look scripted. The writer’s already have a story line, they just add a little drama and play around with the scenes. A little cut/paste & snip/splice! Some shows are real good at it & some are blatantly obvious! On RH of ATL, Nene has had the same sweater on during every confessional this season, though her comments are meant to be about that episode. I’ve noticed it alot on Dance Mom’s too! The girls will comment on a performance, with a leo they had on 3 wks prior……Whatever, I still love the show, and I REALLY love this blog!
Did anybody know where to buy the costume that maddie wear in her dance that called “reflection” ? And also Chloe’s costume in her red queen dance? I really want their costume! I try to look for their costumes picture in the Internet, but I never found it. Anybody please help me!! I really love two of those costume. They’re so cute.. And I love they’re dance too..
Good job Abby!
I think a lot of their costumes are custom. Abby has a woman that makes them. So it is possible you can’t buy them out of a catalog.
