“The tartness of [her] face sours ripe grapes.” - Wm. Shakespeare
Hello Gasmii! Welcome to season two, part two of Dance Moms. I’m so happy to be free from the tyranny of unicorn buns and S&M gear!
So this episode SUPPOSEDLY picks up right after Jabby’s NJ meltdown, but I feel like everyone looks totally different. Crazy Cathy makes a cameo with a new hairdo and most of the moms look like they have lost weight (of course that could just be in comparison to the Miami moms).
Jabby shows up late for the pyramid and we are supposed to believe that she hasn’t seen or spoken to anyone since she ditched them in Jerz. The moms are pissed because they feel like the Jabster let their kids down and because of her continuing boner for Maddie.
Chloe makes it to the top of the pyramid because she did so well in New Jersey and as a reward, she gets to shoulder the responsibility of Jabby’s reputation and entire future, which supposedly all ride on this week’s competition.
The kids head to Nexstar in L.A., where Chloe not only has a solo, but she’s featured in the group number AND has a trio with Brooke and Paige. Mackenzie – yay, Mackenzie! – also gets a solo.
Maddie, because she freaked out and ran off stage last time, does not get a solo… or DOES she? Jabby registered her for one, but Maddie still has PTSD and Jabby doesn’t trust her to dance with so “much” at stake. Unfortunately, Nexstar just “happened” to leave Maddie’s name on the program and shenanigans ensue. Poor Maddie seems emotionally fragile, so lord only knows what’s going on at home.
At the competition, nobody places higher than third (although supposedly Mackenzie got a high overall score which we don’t see) and Jabby is not happy. She blames the girls and the moms blame Jabby’s “stale” choreography. (Not “chorography” – yay for that!)
All in all, Jabby is even more bitter and unpleasant than I remembered and everybody else seems really on edge and ready to go from 0 to screech monkey in no time flat. Melissa’s secret engagement is not mentioned, nor does she threaten to sue anyone (sad horns).
Even though this episode was kind of meh, I’m still super excited to see my girls again. DMM just never felt right and it made me sad.
What did you guys think? I’m sure it will get better – next week looks to be the Kelly-Jabby fight that we saw in the trailer, so that should be entertaining.
I will have full recap up ASAP. Thanks so much for reading, and have a great day.
xoxo,

DMM has ‘chorography’ but DMP has ‘coshtumes’ . Drives me insane every time Abby says it.
I appreciated seeing Christi push the girls out of the green room after Abby started shouting at the moms. But then, according to their tweets, the moms (even Holly) let their girls watch the episodes when they are aired.
Oh, and while the official court records still show that Greg Gisoni is still married and Melissa changed her last name to his, they are keeping quieter about their engagement (perhaps to aid in Greg’s divorce? Or to further screw up Melissa’s kids who know they are living with a married mom’s-boyfriend?):
“People have been asking us to do a meet and greet locally,” said Melissa Gisoni, dance mom of Maddie and Mackenzie.
The cast is already into filming Week 6 of Season 3. Ms. Gisoni promises more of the usual conflict, as well as trips to Georgia and California.
As for last season’s kerfuffle — over is she or isn’t she engaged? — Ms. Gisoni can only laugh. “It was stupid,” she said. “That was so made up. It just made me look like an ass.”

Here are the results from that competition – I don’t believe Mack got anything more than was shown. She is too cute though!!

Yup… I am still really confused why Melissa changed her name while Greg is still married unless her intent was to piss off his wife or her ex. And if that was her intent, I imagine mission accomplished.
Abby needs to get laid.
I would pay Chloe a year’s salary if the next time Abby goes all “it’s my name/reputation” on her, Chloe would look her right in the eyes and say “Abby I am 11 fucking years old. Shut the hell up and while you are at it fuck you and your reputation.” And then just stare Abby down. Or yank the necklaces that she just bought at Chico’s on her way to the studio.
OMG! Christi, Holly, Kelly– get your daughters OUT OF THERE!! You are damaging your kids, whether you know it or not! Even if they tell them to ignore Abby, or it’s fake or whatever the hell they tell those girls, it’s still affecting them. Get a lawyer to help them get out of the contract! The way she treats Chloe especially makes me sick! I know Abby really hates Christi, so is trying to hurt Christi by hurting Chloe, but Christi must know this and know that Abby is not going to change. There is no good to come from this, aside from being on T.V., which in the future may just haunt them. Get Chloe into a good ballet school and get the f*** away from that evil witch Abby!! Take Brooke, Paige, and Nia with you. They all will be appreciated and grow much more as dancers if they are somewhere else. Pittsburgh is not a little city- they must have good studios there to go to. Just GO!!! Don’t let your precious daughters continue being abused like they are. On that note, even though Maddie so clearly Abby’s favorite, I don’t think Melissa is doing Maddie any favors by letting her stay either.. That poor child is so tightly wound up. She is just a little kid. They are putting an incredible amount of pressure on her. She needs to get out too. Take a drama class, play soccer, do something else for awhile.. Be a kid! She is going to have a nervous breakdown and she is just a little girl (she has her whole adult life to have a nervous breakdown, no need to go through it at this young age). She should be carefree and a happy child- not a nervous wreck about upsetting Abby and not being perfect. I feel sorry for all these girls!!
I thought Jabby was nicer this episode. Thank goodness they are back!!! The girls look taller and Holly looks so relaxed.
I’m going to save most of what I want to say for the full recap.
Seriously, Jabby you tell Maddie’s its her choice whether she wants to dance or not. And then pressure and guilt her to get her to do it. It’s obvious Maddie can’t stand the thought of disappointing someone and Jabby tried to take advantage of that. Maddie is going to have a nervous breakdown soon.
From the episode where Melissa got wound up over her engagement issues and stormed into class and tried to remove Maddie, Maddie was working toward her breakdown. The jazz dance she did where Abby commented that she had the whole audience’s attention because of her “acting” reeked of her desperation to please both her mother, Abby, the show, and whomever else. Her dancing at Joffery was also frantic. I can understand why people didn’t see it and her breakdown after forgetting her dance took place. But, how can they not have seen it when they watched it? And do they seriously want their dance teacher to CRY if their daughter forgets her solo? REALLY? It usually freaks kids the fuck out when adults breakdown.
I mean, yes, Abby can give the ‘tears for your pillow’ speech a rest. And yes, Abby should act more like an adult and a proper teacher. But, Maddie was reacting much worse than other girls and she is still upset. Melissa can’t teach Maddie how to handle things because she evidently has no idea how to do so herself. So, Abby feels she should comfort Maddie because no one else will. That doesn’t excuse some of the mean, thoughtless remarks Abby makes, but they should give it a rest.
I mean give the ‘you hugged Maddie’ thing a rest.
I felt bad for Mackenzie. She was doing so well and I think she probably did score high in spite of the fall because all the rest was so good. Also when the dancers are that little and cute judges don’t want to be harsh with them. She also kept going and that is commendable.
Maddie looked traumatized and so not herself. It was really sad. I hope she is okay. That is what happens when your mother and Dance Teacher put so much pressure on you and make you think you are perfect. When you mess up, you don’t and can’t handle it.
I kinda agree with the moms that Abby’s choreography is getting a little stale. It is still good but she needs to get more creative with it. I know throwing new numbers together every week will kinda burn you out so I don’t really blame Abby. It was hard enough when I helped choreographed just a handful of numbers every year for competition that would kick butt.
Kelly seems very unnerved. She yells and just goes at Abby lately. I found it funny but in reality if you hated someone that much, you would just leave.
I actually liked Crazy Cathy’s new hairdo.
Please put Chloe in a good ballet school and move on from this. Let Jabby have Maddie but Chloe is t00 talented – she is too talented for this mess.
I googled this competition and it was filmed in April. The funny thing is there weren’t any “heavy hitter” California schools at that competition. By heavy hitter I mean Autumn Miller’s school or
Sophia Lucia’s school lol
I’m saving most of my comments for the full recap also. But…I was wondering…I am sooo NOT in the dance world. Does anybody that IS know of Abby’s reputation? Does she really have one? For her studio I mean. She constantly says “her reputation” but has anyone ever heard of her outside of this show? And to me, she seems burned out.
I agree. Abby is burned out. Part of the reason I thought she burst into tears during the finale was in her burned outedness, she didn’t see what was happening with Maddie. So, the competition came where Maddie utterly broke down. And now, she is really afraid. She didn’t really want to do the group routine.
Some people elsewhere are saying Maddie’s name wouldn’t be called like it was this episode. But, the people at the competition know about the TV show. They know ALDC is there because Mackenzie and Chloe did their solos (or were prepping to do them). Plus, I’m sure they must check in… so maybe they thought some TV thing was happening that had delayed Maddie.
And Melissa who kept saying, “She’s sick!” To try to defend Maddie (I doubt anyone was attacking her, but Melissa reacts oddly to social cues… it may just be someone innocently saw Maddie sitting in the audience and just took an extra glance to be sure it was really her and meant nothing else by it, but Melissa just freaked because Maddie was crying) she kept saying that. When, really, people sometimes scratch. The other girls competing against Maddie will go on stage and do their dances as soon as it becomes clear Maddie’s not dancing.
That being said, I thought Chloe’s number looked nice. Maybe the ‘heavy hitters’ were just a few girls Abby felt would give Chloe some competition. Her costume was pretty.
The trio costumes were kind of meh, but still better than what we’ve been seeing (looking at you VictAng). I thought it was interesting putting Brooke/Paige/Chloe together.
Huh…something doesn’t feel right about this show anymore. I liked it from the jump because we were watching an actual school that aired their actual problems. I didn’t find it as fake because the reactions were so real & those people were so close to each other and didn’t need to be forced together for a show. I believe some of the comps were ones they wouldn’t normally do, they never did new dances for each comp, Cathy would’ve never shown up with (free)Vivi, and that chalkboard ranking never existed before, but I think every scenario would have played out the same way because it’s obviously a volatile environment of jealousy. Christi’s reactions to Abby’s favoritism & her visceral hatred of Melissa the 1st season was REAL & DEEP, but now, it’s just a lot of playing up to the cameras and trying to come up with the best one-liners. Her snark was funny at first because it came naturally to her, but now, it doesn’t ring true at all. Neither does Kelly & Melissa clearly isn’t so bothered by them anymore because they know that they’re basically acting on a show & not sharing their lives. So idk, but I hope it gets better. It was still refreshing to have them back after the Miami travesty.
BTW…STILL not buying Abby’s melt down about her ‘ruined’ career was contributed to Maddie forgetting a number. As someone pointed out when it happened, Abby was finding out what a negative effect the show was having on her business by being removed from the dance association and being barred from comps. I think they’re trying to cover up the real reason for her angst.
Fancyface, good point. Abby did get kicked out of Dance Masters… and that would have something to do with her reputation more than a student’s mistake.
I maybe the only one thinking this … but I feel that Abby is trying to sabatoge Chloe. Just the way she talks and treats her, it really makes me sick. A grown adult should be a better example to a child. I honestly feel that Abby secretly hopes that Chloe fails because it makes Maddy look better … and we all know much Abby loves Maddy. Maybe it is just the editing, but to me that is how it comes across. Also … I am loving Nia’s hair. Totally gorgeous!!!
Well, Abby Lee may have been kicked out of Dance Masters…but look who’s still listed:

Yup. Her mom. And that tells me that for all of Dance Masters’ blustering, it really was just that – blustering. They’re not going to keep Abby Lee kids out of their competitions – they’re just making it LOOK that way.
And please…they’ll kick out Abby Lee, but keep Crazy Cathy?

Yeah, it seems as if they were going to kick Abby out then they’d need to toss Cathy. Cathy doesn’t berate students like Abby does, but she purposely enters them in the wrong age category. Also, she has used Kendall twice to try to stick it to Abby by beating first Nia (using ALDC choreography/costume) and then put her against Chloe with the same theme as close as she could get it. That isn’t fair to Kendall. Any more than it was fair to Erica to be disqualified because Cathy put her in the wrong age bracket because she just decided that Brooke must surely be (she wasn’t). And dragging her kids in to gloat over 9th place.
Abby has some serious issues she has never addressed. She cannot seem to reign herself in and she’s not the only one. But, she is the one responsible for getting things together for the kids.
The situation with Chloe might be played up for TV. They tried to give us the Chloe/Maddie rivalry, but the girls don’t see one another as rivals. So, now, they have some kind of Abby/Chloe storyline which is happening to some degree for real, but turning the heat up on it just makes it sad all the way around.
Does Kelly drink at all of this stuff? Some of the stuff she yells at Abby is just, “what?!” She sometimes has a perfectly good reason to address something with Abby. But, sometimes the way she goes about it is strange. And it winds up a mess. And Abby usually thinks SHE won.
@Lurker– You are not the only one thinking this. I totally think that Abby is trying to sabotage Chloe. I didn’t used to think that so much, but I think that Abby has so much hatred for Christy and knows that will hurt her the most. That may sound paranoid, but from what I’ve seen, that’s how it appears, and I’ve actually known grown people to be like this, so it is possible. I also think Abby is a total narcissist and has everything is about her and she has to be right about everything, and she has invested a lot into Maddy, so God forbid Chloe coming out on top of Maddy. Sickening! I think there is a part of her that does care for Chloe, but she doesn’t want Chloe ever coming before Maddy, in my opinion. I would get Chloe out of there so fast if I were her mother. Geez!!
I thought Abby was nicer in this episode too, though I thought she needed to cool it a bit with the you’re representing my buisness/company, and my reputation blah blah blah. You shouldn’t put that much pressure on a kid. They get it after the first 10 times. No need to tell them more. It just works them up. I don’t think her choreography is getting stale. It’s still pretty and good. Plus her other teams still win quite often so I doubt its ‘stale’ but then again, I don’t do dance so I wouldn’t know if it IS stale.
Did anyone watch the episode right before this premiere, when Abby listed her Top 20 OMG Moments? It was all things we have already seen, but then Abby would offer comments and perspective after each clip.
There is not an eye roll big enough to describe my feelings on Abby’s opinion of these situations, but the one that really took the cake was when she said that Melissa was the only lady among the Dance Moms.
I do not know Melissa, or any of the moms, of course, but I am willing to bet that no matter what Abby would be the least able to discern which among them was a lady.
She is a trashy woman who has no idea what terrible havoc she is reaking on the fragile egos of these talented little girls. There is no training, technique or opportunity that is worth this trauma.
Chloe (my absolute favorite) would do well to study elsewhere. I hope that her summer at the Joffrey shows her how much more she deserves. Please, Christi, take precious Chloe away!
Kinda agree with the Chloe thing. Before, I didn’t buy it. She was hard on Chloe, yes, but I didn’t think she was being malicious. I STILL don’t think she wants to ruin Chloe or really wants her to fail, but she CERTAINLY wants to take Christi down & the fact that she has no control over who’s on the show is probably driving her a little batty. Abby looks like someone who’s use to being in control at HER STUDIO & able to do whatever she damn well pleased, but is now being shackled down by the producers who make her do things she don’t want to do & making her go along with ridiculous, fake scenarios like the cheer business last year, and it’s making her hate Christi & Kelly even more because she truly can’t kick them off the show. Even with all the yelling and bat shit craziness on the 1st season, you could tell that Abby really did enjoy filming. Now? Not so much! I think she’s fed up with the show, but probably feels like the show has left her in a bind because her reputation has been ruined in the dance world and she has no choice but to ride it out.
And, I’m sorry, but I never had a real problem with Kelly before, but I think she’s acting BEYOND despicable. I get the Abby hate on her part. She has EVERY right to hate her, but attacking the credibility of a school where she chooses to send BOTH of her kids too is kind of ridiculous to me. Take jabs at Abby all you want, even complain about the choreography if you have a problem with it, but to yell & gloat that her children’s dance teacher is stale or washed up just makes her look like an idiot to me. Because, guess what nutbag, YOU’RE PAYING A ‘WASHED UP’ DANCE TEACHER TO TEACH YOUR DAUGHTERS! Who’s the idiot here? Does she really think that makes her look better than Abby? I was done with her after she called Abby a whore, but she never cease to amaze me.
BTW…Old Abbs is losing A LOT of weight! lol…what will they make fun of her about when stress gets her down to 150lbs?
This was definitely filmed some time after the previous season. All the girls look more mature, and mackenzie is sporting a full set of front teeth. Unrelated, but I hated mack’s solo costume. A 7 year old girl should not be dressed in a “see-through” black lace catsuit!
I know I am going to sound pervy to say this, but it was not Mackenzie that is sporting some changes…..Brooke is getting boobs. Good for her!
Well, I think all the Abby stress has to do with her own financial issues. Her house is in foreclosure and she already lost her big old cadillac! I don’t think she is pulling in enough resources to meet her liabilities.
I doubt seriously if she truly hates Christi, but she does appear to hate the person that she is. Meaning the way Chloe and Christi have a decent relationship bothers her. I think she wants Chloe to be “hers”, and be as mesmerized with Abby as much as Maddie is.
It might be a ruse, but apparently Maddie had a terrible ear infection and felt like crap during the taping. Who knows for sure. I
I love watching the tender moments between the girls and their mothers. Those scenes make the show. Abby could go completely absent from an episode and I wouldn’t miss her!
According to “insiders”, Miami is what Pittsburgh was supposed to be– crazy mama drama, with the rest of it just sort of “background”. This would explain a lot, from the 7 year age-span and very different dance styles and ability levels in the group to the random “characters” that kind of come and go (vivi is a darling girl, but she wasn’t anywhere near the level of these girls, and no director in their right mind would have randomly added her to the competition team. ). It ended up being “the Abby show” instead.
I have to say that I enjoy both Dance Moms shows equally , but I think all abbys girls could benefit from some time with victor and angel. Not bc they arent good dancers, bc they most certainly are, but i think victor and angel can help them work on technical things. Also I think that it is so obvious that poor maddie is scared to death of abby, that poor child seems so terrified to let abby down.. it really saddens me
@cathy21…you think the Miami kids have better technique than Abby’s girls?? Hmm, interesting. I don’t quite know how you came to that conclusion though. We didn’t see much dancing in this episode, because sadly, that’s not what this show is about anymore, but anyone who knows a thing or 2 about dancing, would probably disagree with you. All of Abby’s girls have BEAUTIFUL technique and they are really good little dancers & I don’t see how they would benefit from VictAng other than learning to look at their feet in angst as they hold it in the air for 5 minutes. But to be fair to the kids on Miami, I think most of them are good dancer and they would REALLY benefit with some time with Gianna from Abby Lee’s because I don’t think we honestly saw them dance. We saw them do tricks & poses. Abby’s girls?…they dance! and they can all do the tricks that the Miami girls do as well.
@Nannie….Abby’s house was never in foreclosure, but her STUDIO was in jeopardy of being lost. And all that was before lifetime came in. It was happening as the 1st season was being shown but it’s no longer an issue. She was once strapped for cash, but that’s no longer the case. That being said, she still has some personal as well as professional issues that are unnerving her & I don’t think it has anything to do with the girls themselves.
@fancyface– Correct me if I’m wrong, but I heard through the grapevine that Abby was saved from losing her studio because of Greg Gisoni (Melissa’s fiance- though he’s still married..). Is that true or just a rumor? It would make a lot of sense that because of Melissa/Greg that Maddie and Mac would be getting so much more attention, private lessons, etc.. Just wondering if that was the case. If anyone else knows, please chime in..
@Dani…I’m pretty sure that he was helping her with refinancing the studio before the show came along all the way up til they start airing the episodes. Beyond that, I’m not sure, but I think someone else said he may have actually helped her save it.
I think both Miami and Pittsburgh dancers have a lot of technique and flexibility. The difference being Pittsburgh dancers are more graceful and fluid than Miami in my opinion. It is also a stylistic thing.
The way Kelly yells at Abby is disturbing to me. It feels like a dysfunctional mother/daughter relationship. And I know all of you love Christi but I think she’s just a bully. I hate the way she always tells Melissa what to do as if she’s Melissa’s sorority mother or something. And she was totally aware that the cameras were on her when she ushered the kids out of the room — could she have done that any more ostentatiously? I could see that Abby was being pretty awful this episode but it sure seemed like the moms were pushing all the right buttons. Pretty despicable all round.
I think Maddie actually WAS sick. She filmed a little question & answer video (you can find it on YouTube) right around the time it was filmed and you can tell the little thing is sick. Abby even said nonchalantly a few times ‘I know you’re not feeling good…’ or ‘if you feel better later…’ and it was kind of off handed and not for the cameras.
@fancyface…Abby’s house IS in foreclosure and moving closer and closer to a Sheriff’s Sale. Kinda ticks me off because there ARE ways to save your home. I know…I was in her exact same position, but I don’t have a TV show, I’m just a paralegal raising 2 teenagers alone (no rich BF and their dad is a troll under a bridge so no child support). It’s in her mother’s name, and we know from the show that (1) her mom is elderly and in ill health, and (2) she lives in Florida. So I don’t know how she can let this happen to her mom. Google Allegheny County Department of Court Records, click on case search. Her case number is MG-10-002475. Her per diem interest is only $24.12, so her payment cannot be that astronomically high.
I think Abby got more than she bargained for when she signed on for this show. She seem burned out and on edge. Again, does her studio truly have a reputation all over the place as she claims? My daughter is not into dance and so I know nothing of this world.
I’m also wondering if @Cathy21 is our Crazy Cathy from Ohio?
Christi is funny, but she’s not always right. Also, she and Kelly kind of egg each other on as if this is all about putting Abby in her place. But, it’s not. It’s about girls dancing.
I think the mothers are heavily encouraged to voice their “concerns” loudly and frequently. Even when they really could just let things go.
Ushering the kids out of the room? There have been plenty of rip roaring fights when them trying to run their number or get dressed or whatever.
I think in the past, they let some things go. They just accepted certain things about the other people they have to be around. This show has thrown them all together and they feel very competitive with Abby. Meanwhile, Abby is absolutely determined to do what SHE wants. So, it’s a constant fight.
Meanwhile, the girls DO look exhausted. Even if Abby were replaced with AngelicAbby who was forever sweet with endless patience, if she’s a dance teacher then when the girls are with her that means they’re dancing. If the girls are looking like they need a nap, how is this working out for the adults? Granted, they mostly sit while the girls work. But, they have other responsibilities before and after.
So that’s why Maddie had those dark circles and her eyes were so glassy — ear infection! I’m glad you commenters are so on the ball!
Maddie did look pale and she seemed to be sitting down a lot. So, maybe the real reason she didn’t do anything except the group number was she was sick?
@josstas-mom…Abby’s house is not in foreclosure. Her PARENT’S house is. This is a 2nd home they own, not the one that Abby is currently living in. Not the one that she actually lived with her parents in. It’s very complicated, but again, Abby does not have a home that’s in foreclosure. The problems with her parents’ home started before this show came along and while I’m sure she would love to help her parents keep their homes, if she was having financial difficulties before the show came along or if even if she’s still having money issues, how can she be accused of ‘letting that happen to her mom’s home’ when she was in no position to save it?
@gunkata…I completely agree! Christi & Kelly are driving me nuts (in my ni-ni voice of course). They have become so fake and put upon that it’s starting to irk me. They are totally there for the cameras and trying to humiliate Abby, not for their daughters dancing like they were during the 1st season. It’s sad because I use to like them.
And yes, Maddie probably did sit out because she was sick. Abby has admitted to making things seem a certain way on camera or manufacturing a reason for the girls not to dance as much if they have prior commitments. When she sat out Maddie @ nationals in the 1st season, she actually did that because Maddie had to dance in other numbers she brought to the competition with different comp teams. Same when she sat out Chloe as well. She had a prior commitment that weekend & couldn’t be there for everything.
On a side note: I’ve been thinking that maybe Abby genuinely can’t read Chloe’s character. I’ve had the occasional teacher who seemed to think that if a kid wasn’t being dynamic and “on” that the kid wasn’t trying hard. And where most people see shyness in Chloe I think Abby truly sees furtiveness. If Maddie is Abby’s ideal dancer I can see how Chloe would frustrate her. I’m not saying this to excuse Abby, just to say that I don’t think she’s a bitch to Chloe because she wants to sabotage her. I think she just can’t, or won’t, control a natural response to her.
One thing I have noticed about Chloe is when she starts messing up and getting fussed at by Abby, she begins to look at her feet more and more. I have noticed when her head is all the way down, she sometimes starts to cry. A few times, Abby has sent Chloe out to get a drink of water. This is probably about the most insightful thing Abby has done with Chloe. When Chloe comes back in after getting a drink and a hug from her mom, she is better able to work on her dancing. I am not agreeing with everything Abby has done or said, just that there are some people for whom a five minute break can work wonders… and Chloe appears to be such a person. Not to criticize Chloe, for all I know she has put up with Abby fussing on her for literally hours before she starts to feel defeated.
I have seen Christi complain when Abby does this which I think is most likely just for the show. I am sure she has to be able to see the change in Chloe’s demeanor before and after.
Another thing, for a long time Abby was certain Chloe was trying to be a choreographer. I think Chloe sometimes just made a mistake perhaps adding a turn where Abby didn’t want one, but she didn’t mean it deliberately. But, I think this is why Abby thought Chloe was “cocky.” Maybe watching the show and seeing Chloe say over and over she didn’t mean to do it wrong, Abby began to see Chloe wasn’t defying her. Also, getting older, Chloe is probably better at remembering her steps and interpreting what Abby wants correctly. Or at least I hope that is the case. Chloe really isn’t cocky.
Fancyface, that makes sense. By the time the show airs, Maddie will be perfectly all right (or I certainly hope so!). Some of the viewers are little kids who think this is happening in real time, so it spares them worrying about Maddie’s long ago ear infection.
I don’t think Lifetime expected (for some insane reason) that a show with a bunch of kids doing an activity many kids enjoy would attract a lot of young viewers. (Surprise!) I have read a lot of parents record it so they can fast forward through the adults arguing and watch the kids. Although, many little kids like the moms, too. A lot like Kelly, so I hope whatever is going on she settles down a bit. I think it is mostly because she has two daughters, but still…
I read two interesting tidbits.. maybe someone knows if these are true..
First, is a minor thing.. Holly took dance in college and learned some ethnic dances, particularly from Africa. This may be why she doesn’t want Abby’s input. Although, Abby is right. There are certain types of auditions that Nia can go on and the other girls cannot. It seems if Nia had something better than the pimp song, that might not be so bad? Maybe Holly should give some of that information to Abby to go through when she has time? Obviously, that would need to be approached much like the bomb squad gingerly approaches a bomb.
Second, I read that when Abby was 14 she offered lessons to her “younger friends.” KELLY was one of these friends up until she quit. This kind of explains the “whore” argument (doesn’t excuse it, but they may have some long ago high school style dirt on one another.. I am not calling either one of them a whore, btw). Kelly seems to regress in age when she argues with Abby. Honestly, I wish they’d go to counseling together. That is a really old friendship to scrap.
Also, Abby more or less said she loved Brooke and Paige in one interview. She doesn’t treat them with loving kindness in the dance studio, but maybe at one time things were different? Abby is pretty immature and there are things she doesn’t understand. Such as you can’t raise kids now the way people were raised forty years ago. It’s just a different time. It seems silly, but to kids ten years before they were born qualifies as the old timey days let alone going back the childhood times of their parents and teachers.
I will admit that Chloe is my favorite– I think because she reminds me so much of myself at that age– she is sensitive– she takes everything to heart. Often too much so. Maddie pretends (tries?) not to, until it gets too much to bear, and then she literally crumbles. Late last season she reminded me of an Italian greyhound dog– those things just always look (even when fairly relaxed) like they are on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I feel for these kids. Child actors know that it’s all pretend. Children on shows like T&T are mostly just being real. This is some in-between world that makes no sense.
O.k., I was talking about this show with my fiance (and yes, I have made him watch it).
He thinks Melissa kind of knows she has issues, but that she does love her daughters. So, what she does is get them a lot of dance lessons because they love to dance.
Also, when the other moms try to get Melissa to stand up for herself and she sighs and says “I am a doormat,” that they are hurting her. He doesn’t think they mean to hurt her, but they are because all she really gets out of it is something is wrong with her. Then, they try to get her to do something they think would show her assertiveness, but that she doesn’t want to do. So, she shuts down. Finally, the “walk away from me” thing she uses on her daughters is her misguided attempt to “not be a doormat” even though her kids aren’t really attempting to take advantage of her. Basically, Melissa is the way she is, they probably just need to accept her as much as they can.
I have to agree. Also, I believe Melissa really appreciates it when Abby hugs her daughters. I know all the mothers would, but in that area Abby’s maternal instinct is better than Melissa’s. It’s not as good as the other mothers, but it’s better than Melissa’s. Sometimes Melissa is there to hug her girls, but other times she doesn’t quite get that they need it. Although after sologate, Maddie appeared to be trying to get a hug from anyone she was so upset. I mean, she’s just nine years old.
When Nia forgot her solo, Holly went to her and totally calmed her down. Then, she arranged for Nia to dance again. Abby could have been a total bitch and gone and taken Nia’s name right back off, but she didn’t. So, she went in the dressing room and was pretty matter of fact about things which probably kept Nia calm. What would have happened if Abby ran into the dressing room and started sobbing all over Nia who was just trying to mentally go through her routine? Poor Nia would have started sobbing all over again and Holly would have needed to calm her AND Abby down before Nia’s dance. Didn’t Abby tell Nia good job after she did her dance properly? That was what Nia needed in that situation. Especially since Nia is a couple of years older than Maddie anyway. Abby couldn’t say this to Holly during pyramid because Melissa and her girls were standing right there.
We do all need to remember that while this is billed as a “reality” show, it is really only several paychecks (the kids who can’t officially be paid, because then they’d be “professionals” and couldn’t compete) away from being a full-on soap opera. I agree, though, about the difference between how nia/maddy were handled after forgetting their dances. Nia is a resilient kid. Maddie is either a rock, or she’s breaking into shards– much like her mother. Kelly needs to back off the Bacardi a bit, and Christi needs to just let Chloe handle stuff. Please, lifetime, dont turn this into the paler, blonder, version of dmm!
Pageant Grandma, people discuss soap operas as if they are real. So, if this show is exactly as fake as that, I am kind of relieved. But, going by what we’re shown and the other info that has been provided… well… we can amuse ourselves anyway.
Pageant Grandma, I agree… one Miami is enough!
In light of the fact kids are watching these shows, I think they can tone down a lot of the antics.
Also, to mix it up… instead of everyone learning dances zippy quick give them more time. And try different combinations. Maybe duets with all different pairings. Or a trio with the best acro girls. Just things we haven’t seen even if they’ve always done them. Maybe a guest choreographer helps out one episode. There are many things they could try… and I’m sure with the moms and Abby some drama will ensue.
Last season, it was said Chloe wanted to do the red queen theme. Maybe have that be a reward for a certain accomplishment, the girl gets to choose the theme and have some input on song/costume. Abby would still guide them and have the last word, but it might give her a little burst of creativity.
@fancyface, I guess I ruffled your feathers and I certainly didn’t mean to do that. Apparently you know alot, so my hat is off to you! As far as helping her mom, please trust me, I know, you don’t need to have money to save your home. There are programs to help you, either by forgiving all or part of your mortgage, restructuring, helping with payments, etc. Maybe she and/or her mom don’t care if the house is lost. But I also know that when my mom was alive, I would have moved heaven and earth to help her with anything she needed … from saving her home to making a phone call for her to mopping her floor….my mom was and still is my hero (or heroine?). Maybe that’s why I’m hooked on this show, the girls and their moms have such good relationships, especially Holly/Nia and Christi/Chloe.
Those are all good ideas gun kata.
I feel like everyone else that last night everything seemed kinda out of character. The kids were not their usual happy selves. The moms were more angry and over the top. Abby seemed wore out and over it. I am concerned this show is getting to them too much and that makes me sad. I love the show but I don’t want their lives ruined over it.
You people are so stupid. The name of the show is Dance Moms. Dance MOMS. M-O-M-S. Get it? It’s about the MOMS not the kids, not the dancing. Momma drama. If you want dancing, watch So You Think You Can Dance. Is that so fucking hard???!!!!
April, thanks.
I know what you mean… I know a couple of months had passed since New Jersey… but they pretty well acted like they’d just dragged off the bus. Maybe they had just returned from a far flung competition? Or maybe Maddie wasn’t the only person feeling sick.
SnoopK8 is right, the adults were on the verge of screech monkey every moment. So, some of it was just strange. Like Abby getting up in Kelly’s face to correct her grammar. Maybe the kids were exhausted from wrangling their nutty moms and crazy coach. Haha
@charlieswinning…are you serious? 1st of all..UNCLENCH & calm the hell down. 2nd of all, we can talk about what the hell we want to around here. If you don’t like it go take a flying leap or a jete (I learned that DANCE term from DANCE moms, thank you very much. Although, I still have no idea what it is but hopefully it’ll kill you if you jete off a high roof. Which, as you can see, I HIGHLY suggest you do.)
The DANCE could be stressed in the title just like MOMS can! It’s not about MOMS it’s about DANCE. DANCE moms..you know DANCE moms…D-A-N-C-E. DANCE! Get it?
See how stupid that sounds? Yeah…how’s that reflection in the mirror that I just held up to your face look?
Go play in traffic!
@josstas-mom…no, no, no, hun I wasn’t upset! I just wanted the facts put out there. I don’t see what any of it has to do with the show, but some people throwing her financial hardships (that all of us has probably experienced) in her face as if that makes her a bad person wasn’t right to me. There are a shit load of stuff to crack on Abby about without bringing that up. That’s all.
Now you saying…
“As far as helping her mom, please trust me, I know, you don’t need to have money to save your home. There are programs to help you, either by forgiving all or part of your mortgage, restructuring, helping with payments, etc. Maybe she and/or her mom don’t care if the house is lost. But I also know that when my mom was alive, I would have moved heaven and earth to help her with anything she needed”
DEFINITELY ruffles my feathers! lol. 1st of all, it’s true that there are programs around to help you…IF YOU’RE LUCKY. Some of them require you to be completely destitute before you can even apply. Others are always ‘out of funding’ unless you have someone in your corner that can work a little magic on your behalf or you luck up and find someone who works for the program that actually WANTS to help you by giving you other options or even seeking out funding for you. Also, the money available to help people right ‘after the bubble burst’ is certainly not available now. The banks aren’t even TOUCHING your refinancing app unless you have perfect credit and major assets these days, and most people that need that kind of help has probably wrecked their credit to hell & have no other assets besides their homes. If saving your home without money was so easy, our foreclosure rate wouldn’t be so high. Thank goodness it’s getting better. Kinda
Even so, how do we know what she was actually doing to try to save the house? How do we know she didn’t try to move ‘Heaven & Earth’ to help her parents out? I think most children (not all, because I have relatives that dispute this claim, unfortunately) would do anything in their power to help their mom live an easier life as she gets older. So, the insinuating that she didn’t when we don’t know what the situation is….yep, ruffled fancy’s feathers! I still have Gasmi love for you though
I think that someone else hit it on the head. Each kid is different and Jabby treats them different. Nia had her mother to help her, Melissa seems to lack in that department, so maybe Jabbs felt the need to step up. It seems like that Melissa isn’t all about Maddie’s dance, although it shows her there and all that, it seems to me that she is always preoccupied, on her phone, working, so on and so forth. Maybe Jabby feels that she has to give Maddie more attention, whereas, Christi is always right there knowing what is going on, working this Chloe…
Also, as far as the whole “favorite” thing goes, in all honesty she may just like Maddie better. Since Melissa works at the studio, Maddie is probably around more than the other girls so Jabbs sees her more often and probably has a special bond. My husband coached baseball and there were kids who would come early and stay late to help pick up, set up, or just get more practice. My husband always liked these kids better and didn’t mind doing more for them because they showed a true desire. Since Maddie is there (possibly) early and late, Jabby may think this about her.
I have to say that I really love all of you commenters. After watching this episode I was sure that I would be the ONLY ONE who thought Jabby was getting too much of bitch edit about the Chloe/Maddie thing and that I would have to sit quietly and read a bunch of comments about how Jabby is evil and Melissa should be killed, etc. But you all have such awesome bullshit meters; it’s like therapy reading the comments!
About the moms being unusually on edge — I do want to know what was up with that because it seemed genuine. They really did seem furious with Jabby for leaving the competition. But on the other hand, Holly really did look at least 10 pounds thinner than the last time we saw her so I agree with SnoopK8 that it did look as if they’d had time to get over that.
And that is great info about Jabby “teaching” Kelly when they were teenagers. Kelly had made a comment last season about Jabby being her teacher and I was totally confused about how Kelly could be young enough to have been Jabby’s student.
Btw, did anyone else think Holly also looked totally stressed out? Like, to the point of snapping?
I think part of why they were all so much on edge (and I do think it was genuine) was that they all had had a break (from Abby, from filming, etc..), so perhaps they really hadn’t seen Abby (though, I bet Melissa probably had..). Maybe Abby went to Florida to visit her mom for awhile? Or stayed out in California? I don’t know, but I think it’s possible that they really did have a break (a much needed one I’m sure). Also, I think a lot of those moms were PISSED! I heard that they actually don’t see the episodes until they are aired, and from what Christi wrote after she saw that finale was that she was very upset. I think they see this when it’s aired and probably a lot of anger comes up for them and if they hadn’t had a chance to address that, then it would be fitting that there would be a lot of tension and anger in that room when Abby came back. THe producers probably wanted it that way too, so maybe they needed to stay away from Abby and vice versa for a bit so that when they did meet up there would be that tension, that drama. I also think that the moms have had it with Abby- especially after what they have seen in the episodes once they are aired- that they are flying off the handle much easier these days. They have a contract which says that Abby can’t kick them out, AND that the moms can’t leave, which means both Abby and the moms can basically say whatever the hell they want and be as bitchy as they want to eachother (Abby to moms and their kids, moms to Abby), and this creates A LOT of drama. I have 3 kids and I know if someone treated my kids badly that I would go off he deep end, so I have some sympathy for the moms when they do lose it with Abby because I think they have just been pushed too far and watched their kids being hurt too much. I do think they should try whatever they can to get out of those contracts, but in the meantime, they are there and they are pissed and Abby is being mean to their “babies” and that will push anyone over the edge. I personally can’t stand when they make fat jokes, or when Cathy says Christi has a big nose and is ugly (the dog pound is calling comment).. That makes me lose respect for them and seems below the belt (Ihave no respect at all for Cathy, but do expect more from the moms), but I can see them getting pissed and I think a lot has been leading up to it.
Sorry so long..
@Dani – I have to disagree. I do agree, that they probably had a break, Maddie looked much rounder in the face, and I would bet that many of them took a few weeks off of dance.
But, I have to disagree with why everyone is on edge… I doubt that it has anything to really do with Jabby. They have said on multiple shows that Jabbs loves the kids and gives them praise, hugs, and all attention, which is what they seem to complain about on the show. But, if you are filming for 5 hours after taking care of other kids, being at school, being up late, competitions, I bet you would be on edge as well, and being around the same people it’s easy to take it out on each other. I think that the producers leave a lot in the air, which I would assume would cause frustration. Christi wrote that she wasn’t sure if Chloe would even get to go to the Joffrey summer thing (I know very little about dance, LOL) because they might still be filming and she wasn’t sure if the producers could fit it in or would let her go.
Abby does live in her mother’s house, she was the person the county served! Geez! Abby took the house over when her mom moved to Florida, the mortgage was not changed due to Abby’s credit. Check the records again, Abby doesn’t own her own house.
Do you think the producers made Jabby be late to rehearsal to get the moms all fired up again about her leaving the competition? Since it probably actually happened awhile before they filmed this episode? Jabby is a lot of things, but tardy has never been one of them before. And she looked really strange when she walked in, like “Look, this is bullshit and I’m not going to pretend to apologize for it.” But I don’t know if it was the lateness she was looking like that about. Maybe she didn’t even know she was late? Maybe the moms were told a different time?
I find it quite humorous that you all are so quick to say that the DMP dancers are SO much better than the DMM dancers, their technique is so much better and they are much more fluid. The reality folks is that the one and only time that these teams went head to head at Energy in Michigan DMM was the team that won ! As far as solos every single one of the DMM dancers place repeatedly in the top ten yet there are a few on DMP that never place in the top ten or only do when no one else is competing against them. These are the facts in the competition dance world. I personally like both shows they are very different styles of dance DMP being more broadway/lyrical and DMM being more modern/contemporary and guess what that has alot to do with the fluidity of the dances. Let’s stop comparing them enjoy both shows and the talented children on both. Now if we are going to talk about head to head matchups my money is going on DMM they have proven that every team members places better than DMP.
@Nannie…no one said Abby owned her own home. I said the home that she currently resides in is a DIFFERENT home that her parents own, and yes one that she did take over after her mother moved. And YES Abby was the one served with the papers in 2010, you know, like I mentioned how all this was going on before the show came along when she had REAL money issues, so I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to disprove since everything that you said has already been acknowledged, but ok.
Again, what does this have to do with the show? Is she not allowed to have money issues because she’s on tv or something? I can see if Abby ever alluded to having a lot of money (you know like Cathy) on the show, how it would be relevant, but I can’t recall her making out as or giving the impression that she’s flushed with cash. But whatevs!
Anyhoo..guys, I know we ALL love Chloe, because how could you not, but do you think that some people knock Maddie because she’s considered the favorite and therefore are more critical of her? Some of the comments made by others, especially last year, were a little harsh when it came to Maddie and some perceived that she had an ‘attitude’ that I just dodn’t see & I have a feeling that those sentiments are felt because of Abby’s favoritism towards her. Like Maddie saying the EXACT same things that Chloe says in her interviews, but she was branded cocky while Chloe always got the benefit of doubt. Or people being overly critical of her dancing and fawning over Chloe’s? I think they are both amazing and have 2 completely different styles, but I don’t see one as being better than the other because they both have their strengths. Just a thought I had.
maryedith,
I don’t know but the episode that aired this week had to be filmed during the hiatus, it may have been done shortly after the last one aired. They say that the new ones air about 8 weeks after the filming, so there couldn’t have been much of a time lapse after the crying one.
It’s strange that the moms don’t get to see the darn things before the general public.
Oh, and if you go to spokeo.com and put in Abby Miller, PA it will show you that she lives in the same house on Darrell Drive that is in foreclosure. the Saltsburg Road address is the studio.
@fancyface– Re: Chloe/Maddie– I think you are right to an extent. I think for a lot of us we naturally want to protect the one who seems to be being bullied and that would be Chloe. Also, in season 1 they really did make Maddie come off as a bit cocky, which theydidn’t do with Chloe. Season 2 has been much better in that department. I actually didn’t think badly of Maddie in season 1, even if she did come off a bit cocky, because she’s just a little girl and if she does think she’s the “best” dancer ever, then who could blame her when she is being told that constanly, and even if she isn’t literally being “told” that, she’s being shown that people think that, so she comes to believe it. I don’t blame her AT ALL for that. That’s the adults fault. I think season 2 has cut a lot of those comments out, or maybe she was told by her mom and Abby that she was coming off that way and to watch what she says in her interviews.. I don’t know, but season 2 there has been MUCH less of that. Personally, I LOVE ALL the girls. They are so precious and would be proud to have any one of them as my daughters.
I agree with you that Chloe and Maddie are both extremely talented dancers and do have different styles. There are things that I think Maddie is stronger at, and other thing that Chloe is better at, but both are very talented girls!! What I would like to see is Abby mixing it up a bit. We all know that Maddie can nail a lyrical number. She ALWAYS does practically the same dance. Give her something else! Even if she doesn’t win, who cares? If you want her to grow as a dancer, then start to teach her some other dance styles and have her compete those.. It’s not all about the win! Do Jazz, tap, ballet, something…! Same for Chloe and the other girls. I would love to see group tap number! Can they all tap?? Stop only giving Brooke Acro. Yes, she’s extremely good at acro, but let her grow as a dancer by doing something else. Get some competition exposure doing something different than what you excel at, then you will grow as a dancer. Mackenzie, Paige and Nia also are always doing acro. It seems that Abby is mostly concerned about the win, but as a teacher trying to prepare these girls for future dance careers possibly, then give them something different than what you give them all the time and something different than what is the easiest for them, and what they win at. Give them a challenge. Help them to grow into a well-rounded dancer that can do different styles.. IMO.
This episode was just hard to watch for me. I thought the girls did a great job dancing, but the levity is missing. There were a couple interviews with Chloe where she looked just outright sad, plus a little haggard. They need to bring the fun back into the show somehow- maybe by not trying to force drama?
Sorry Fancyface, but you are wrong.
TEAM MADDIE!!!!
@Nannie…don’t exactly know what you think I’m ‘wrong’ about but since that could be about any number of things I’ll take your word for it. You would be surprised how many times I’m ‘wrong’ about shit so it’s no biggie lol.
BUT, if you’re referring to my whole Abby lives in another one of her parents homes thing. No, I’m not. If your ‘facts’ come from spokeo….can you explain the other 3 homes they have listed under her name as well? Do you think I could be referring to one of those houses? LMBO…whatevs
AGAIN, WHO CARES? What does this have to do with the show? Have you never had financial problems before? I don’t see why you want to keep bringing up her parents or her property issues, but if you must, carry on. Just leave me out of it.
ANYHOO…@Dani..actually the 2nd season showed us Maddie & Chloe competing in all different styles, which is why, IMO, Maddie didn’t win as much as she did the 1st season. Season 1 showed her just doing what she’s best at over and over, but the 2nd season showed her doing Jazz, Contemporary, & idk if her ‘Spanish’ dance has a name of it’s own but it was definitely different. She also did an awesome tap routine on the 1st season (you know during the ‘Maddie has TWO SOLOS’ episode lol, which is still my favorite epi) and it showed her in her tap routine in other scenes so I’m pretty sure she always compete in tap as well. Chloe also did ballet a couple of time last season which she was absolutely BEAUTIFUL in & the dances were she doesn’t place as high in I believe were Jazz. So they did give variety, but since this show is showing less and less dance, we probably won’t get to see much of anything this season. Sad horns.
Fancyface: I like all the kids including Maddie. I feel really bad for her and like her even more after this current episode. She is sick and is having all this pressure put on her. I was actually proud that Melissa stood up to Abby and told Maddie she did not have to dance.
I do think the adults tell Maddie she is God’s gift and that is not good, but that is not her fault. For as much smoke as they blow up her ass, she is really down to earth and sweet. The other girls love her and are best friends with her so I don’t think it would be like that if she was mean or stuck up.
Dani: YES! I have been waiting for a group tap number since the show started airing!
When we competed we basically had one number in each dance style. One tap number, one jazz/hip-hop number, one pom-pon number, one lyrical/modern/contemporary number. We did not do ballet. Then we just did that one number and worked on it all year and competed all of them at every competition. We usually would place multiple times in top 10. Like one time our tap was 1st overall, our hip-hop was 3rd overall, and our pom-pon was 5th overall. Like that. So we were even kinda competing against our own numbers.
@fancyface– I think part of the reason Maddie didn’t win quite as much as she did in first season (though she still did win quite a lot) is because in a lot of the comps she went up an age division, which made the competition stiffer. Yes, there was the spanish dance and one jazz number that I recall, but other than that I don’t remember anything else besides that same lyrical number, which usually ends with her arms on her legs (sometimes a hand on face) looking at her foot. She dances beautifully, so mean no disrespect at all, but it’s basically the same dance changed up a little with slightly different music. Correct me if I’m wrong, or missing another dance, but from what I recall with Maddie in partcular in season 2, it was mostly that. I personally loved the jazz dance and the spanish dance, and loved seeing her doing something different. Yes, CHloe did do different dances and I liked that! In season 1 I do rememer Maddie doing a tap routine- I just wish they would show that more, if she is continuing to do tap I would love to see it, but aside from that one time on season 1, I haven’t seen any tap! It’s also Paige, Nia and especially Brooke with the acro… Would love to see Brooke doing something else.. That’s just my opinion. I just think they are very talented girls and would serve them well to mix it up a bit more. Of course, maybe they do and we just don’t see it. I’m just judging on what I do see.. I hope the show becomes more and more dance though– I love to watch them dance and is really the main reason I watch the show.
Maddie probably does two solos regularly because when you compete for titles, don’t you have to do two solos and then they average the scores together and that is how they pick the title winner? Is that right? We never did titles, but I think I remember hearing something about that.
Oh, and I forgot to include MacKenzie with the acro.. She’s fabulous with acro, but would love to see her do something else. Actually, if I were Melissa I might seriously consider putting little Mac in gymnastics. She is really good at it and it may be her thing! Not every kid is the same– maybe Maddie is more a lyrical type dancer, but Mackenzie may really excel being a little gymnast.. (sp?)
@Dani…ITA! They don’t stray from the style they’re best at very often at all & I too really wish they would. Maddie competed in a higher age division 1st season as well & won so idk how much that really factors into it, but that could definitely be the case. It seems like all of the numbers she did that didn’t do as well were the jazz, spanish, etc that she doesn’t normally do. Her regular dance always placed. And notice I said dance and not dances, because yeah…all of them were the same lol. This is what they do: they change a few moves in the beginning and the end or just change up the sequence of them, like jete, plie, acro move, then turns become turns, plie, jete, acro move & bam…new routine. NOT!
Also, the show only shows us part of the dance during one comp, then they show a different part on the next epi, giving the illusion that they are ‘new’ dances, which all of us here @ the Gasm knows is b.s. Case in point..McKenzie’s ‘party starts right now’ dance that she freaking ROCKED OUT on in one epi was the exact same dance she did on the ‘oh no it’s a gym floor’ epi VERBATIM (wait, can you say verbatim when you’re talking about an action or is it just used to describe what someone said? Interesting question, NO?) They posted the whole dance & it didn’t even have one change as far as I can remember.
And I also think a group tap number would be awesome!
Good catch Fancy face on Mackenzie doing the same number. I did not notice that and I watched the whole number online.
I also think Mackenzie should stick to gymnastics. Or dance too still, but don’t spend all your time dancing. Work on both.
OMG FAncy,
Do you live in Penn Hills? Do you even know where Saltsburg Road or Darrell Drive are? I doubt it, but carry on with your bad ass self, LOL!
No one has said Abby is evil because she is in a financial mess. Abby is evil because of what she says to the dancers, period.
Maddie is a good dancer, while I think(my opinion) that Chloe is a great dancer. My reasoning goes back to why I think Nia is a goodish dancer…they have HEART. Chloe and Nia want to please themselves(once again my opinion) while Maddie wants to please Abby and her Mom. Chloe’s Red Queen LOVED it. I haven’t seen a Maddie routine that has ever made me FEEL, Chloe’s routines usually makes me want more. While Melissa is vesting so much in Maddie, her real star in my little MacK(you all know she has been my baby since the beginning). Mack has so much in her, she is a little star in her own right. Someone last season posted a link to their YouTube page and she has a little voice on her to boot! I’m not putting Maddie down, but her heart isn’t totally in dance.
Yes, I have teased Maddie in the past(as well as my bro’s nickname that I shared last season) in the fun of snark. I really think she has emotional issues that should be addressed, I wonder if her parents divorce has taken its toll on her. I honestly think this show came in her life at the wrong time. Her need to PLEASE is a tad worrisome. I agree that some of Abby’s doting may be a result of her mother working there and possibly Abby may see that Maddie does need emotional support. I’m starting to think that some of the ‘Maddie is the greatest child dancer EVA’…may have been pushed by the producers of the show. That could have made her anxiety worse, not only does she have to please Abby, Mom, and studio friends…she has to also please America.
@charlieswinning…do you know which website you are on? You do realize that EVERYONE who appears on National television is fair game. Go peek at some of the other recaps.
@Nannie….thank you. I didn’t feel like fighting with fancyface. The truth of it is that I work for one of several law firms that represent Reign Dance Productions. Yes, in downtown Pittsburgh, PA. I know what Abby lists as her residence, which is Darrell Drive. I don’t care how many homes they own, that is her home address/residence and that is the house in foreclosure. I have met Abby at my law firm, briefly and professionally. I have never broached the foreclosure subject with her, but I want to because I know where she can get help. I haven’t even mentioned to her that I watch the show, that’s how brief our encounters have been. I have also met her mother (briefly) and believe me she needs Abby to step up to the plate if only to be her mouth piece. She IS elderly and she DOES have health issues.
@fancyface, you are right, this has absolutely nothing to do with the show. However, it is result of Abby putting herself, her career, and certain students and their moms/families in the limelight. Just like a Hollywood celebrity…you put yourself out there, then everything is fair game, you don’t have any privacy anymore. All of the moms are in the same boat….they chose to put themselves out there in the public, so all of their dirty laundry is fair game. That’s my opinion anyway. I don’t know why you feel the need to defend Abby so vigorously. She obviously isn’t stupid, and is a business woman in her own right. She just needs some financial guidance right now and she isn’t looking for it. You are wrong what you said before about being “lucky” or “destitute” to get help. You can’t be destitute, you must be able to show you can afford to keep your home. Luck has nothing to do with it, perseverance is they key. And I’m just going to throw this out there in case Abby reads this….call Action United….google it….you can save your home still.
@Moli…We def could start a MacK fan club because I too think she’s the bees knees! She is soo frackin cute, I can’t stand it. I do think she shines beyond being a dancer. She could read me the phone book & I’d watch her because her face literally lights up when she talks..about ANYTHING! Lol
I also agree with you on Chloe’s Queen of Heart dance! I don’t know if I liked her more in that one, or the duo she did with Maddie where she was the black swan. I think she does bad ass so well! I also loved her in the cute Broadway number she did with the pink & black costume with the hat box as a prop. Idk why, but I loved watching her bounce around with the cute “O” facials
And can we talk about Paige too? I think SHE is the one being robbed more than everyone else. That girl is a beautiful dancer as well, but she is definitely put on the back burner! She was always good in the trio with M&C and when she was highlighted in the ‘Oh nos it’s a gym floor’ epi, she rocked it out & got 1st overall. How much you want to bet she is ALWAYS capable of kicking butt like that? It’s sad that she doesn’t get more attention from Abby. Her mom’s attention to her dancing is questionable as well. She just doesn’t seem as invested in her dancing as she is with Brooke. But to be fair, lately she doesn’t appear to invested in anything but the cameras & one upping that whore Abby.
@fancy I forgot about the Black Swan…OMG, yes! I love watching Chloe perform her routines! Who is Paige?…joking she get NO screen time. Personally I’m not a fan of hers(they show Brooke looking disinterested), I see every mistake she makes. Now we have to go back to Chloe, when Chloe forgets her choreography she improvises(which Abby hates)… while it looks good on stage she has a different face while doing it). Paige just stumbles around util she get back on track. Poor Brooke, I feel so bad for her being forced into hanging with little kids. I don’t know about you guys, but as a teen a kid younger than me that wasn’t related to me had no time in my life(of course babysitting doesn’t count).
Jabby(like she had more on her mind that the show) was off…which is probably why I thought she was nicer. The comments regarding the Moms seeing the show after filming and wanting to confront Abby makes sense. I thinking(here I go again) the producers said ‘ don’t talk about what you witnessed off camera), so they had to use a topic(which still left the freaking pissed) of her leaving the last compitition.

Well darnit I thought hitting the stop button and not seeing afterwards would work, The reason I stopped it as soon as you get to my first post
@Josstas-mom….Fighting? How are you ‘fighting’ with me? I stated my opinion, you disagreed. I stated facts, you made up your own. That’s what happens in the comment section. I’m not fighting with anyone. I ain’t even herd no fightin words, so whats da pernt (<–ebonics for point. don't ask me why I randomly threw out some ebonics because I have no idea & it's not warranted this time so go figure)
Any regular on the site can tell you that Mrs. Fancy loves her self a good debate & I will state my opinion whether you agree with it or not and you're free to do the same. Then we'll watch another show and agree with every point each other make & I'll compliment you on the great comments. No grudges & ain't gotta be no fightin up in here. In order to fight with someone you'd have to actually give a damn, and I could care less. I just like to snark on dumb bitches that are on tv. You guys are the ones that MUST PROVE ME WRONG, which as I've said before, I could be (although I'm not but whatevs) & I don't give a flying leap!
I don't care if it was Bob you were talking about, my opinions would still be the same, so there goes your 'vigorously defending Abby theory' If you took my comments as angry or harsh then you misinterpreted them (well, except for the one where I took offense to you saying Abby should be ashamed of herself for letting her mom's house go into foreclosure as if you know for sure that she's sitting on a wad of money & just said 'idc, foreclose on this house. I'm rich, bitch (in her NeNe voice) because…yeah I thought that was a bit much) but trust me! I'm not looking for a 'fight'. I'm amused by your and NANNIE'S frantic attempts to 'prove Fancy wrong because her dumb ass doesn't know what she's talking about' lol. It's fun for me
But seriously, I hope Abby really does read this so she can see, if what you say is true, that someone who 'works with her law firm', you know, the ones who are suppose to keep her business CONFIDENTIAL, decided to bring her personal business to a blog to prove a point. That's a blatant betrayal of trust IMO and not very professional of you. And if you really do have access to her information, then you need a refresher course because her parents do indeed own more than once house in PA, but again, I digress. Who cares?
BTW….Action United? Seriously? When is the last time that you know of that they've helped someone save their home 'with no money'? AU is a GREAT organization, but saying they can help someone save their home 'with no money' is beyond ridic. (well, unless you were foreclosed on illegally, in which case they KICK ASS! and help you save your home from crooks
)
And YES, it is almost impossible for most people to get help if they don't have perfect credit or other assets. There are programs out there to help, but most of them are, in fact…OUT OF FUNDS. And again, the banks won't touch you with a ten foot pole these days unless you have close to perfect credit or other substantial assets. So if you truly do know a way that everyone can save their homes 'with no money' please share because I have friends who could benefit from this apparently secret way the millions of people in foreclosure can save their homes 'without money'. Seriously! Details please. Spread the wealth, girly!
So to you and NANNIE, since my saying 'go ahead and keep discussing Abby's finances if you'd like but leave me out of it' wasn't enough, how about this one:
I. DON'T. GIVE. A. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKkkkkkk! Phew that felt good! There, is that better?
Look, Abby is loud, abrasive, obnoxious, chaotic, unreasonable, and I can go on and on & I'm sure you can to. That is A LOT of shit to snark on her about. So I don't understand the point of bringing up her or ESPECIALLY her parents' (you know, the ones who actually HAVE a house in foreclosure) financial situation is even relevant. The day Abby actually does pull a NeNe and yell at the top of her lungs "I am VERY rich, Bitch" I will gladly change my opinion & go after her like you & Nannie because she WILL be called out for bragging about money that she doesn't have! Ask Sheree! We don't play that shit here @ the Gasm lol. Until then, I really don't see what it has to do with anything. That's all I'm saying! For the last time. So you guys can have that bone! I'm full.
@Moli…I thought I was the only one that noticed charlieswinning's comment LOL…..WTF was that?
What do you guys think of Abby's weight loss? I think she's looking great & I hope she continues getting healthy. Although, I think she's on the magical stress diet unfortunately. That shit never last. As soon as she gets her pay raise from Lifetime or if she ever gets laid, she's screwed lol. In the meantime, I think she's looking much healthier. She was even able to yell without taking a million breathes in between. Baby steps. Today, yelling without pesky 'take a breath so I don't die' breaks…Tomorrow, get a lap dance or massage from a man she doesn't have to pay! GOALS people
I noticed something that bothered me when I watched the marathon leading up to this episode. There was an episode where, after narrowly beating out Maddie the episode before, Chloe says in an interview, “I think Maddie is up for competing against me because she’s a good dancer.” I’d never thought much about Abby’s claims that Chloe was cocky, but I couldn’t help but think that the way she said it sounded really snotty. I was shocked! Granted I noticed a lot I didn’t catch the first time around, like how after the Joffry guy called Chloe the first shot you see is Paige glaring–scary glaring–Maddie’s look had nothing on Paige’s!
I think they need a new editor, one that at least makes their manufactured storylines look believable rather than jarring. I mean, they spend so much time making Chloe look like she’s a victim who has no self esteem, then after showing one win over Maddie they suddenly show an interview that makes her look so arrogant. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lead her into it too.
Also, I felt really strange about watching Abby in this episode, like she had regressed back to a (more) irrational teen or something. I agree the stress is getting to her.
Lastly, I may be the only one, but I feel like it would be more difficult to dance nearly identical dances with slightly different choreography all the time. In my beginner tap class in college we had a dance with an altered repeat at the end. During our recital I did everything right up until the end and for some reason, my feet did exactly the sequence from the beginning instead of the ending version, and this had never happened to me until then. I think after a while muscle memory would override the new choreography for me at least. I still think it’s dull to watch, but I’m impressed she doesn’t mess up more often with it.
@gun kata — I got distracted by the foreclosure bitchfest and it’s just now sunk in that you have a FIANCE! Are you wearing a ring? Have you already changed your last name? When’s the date? Is he still married? You need to be open about this stuff, you know. For the kids.
AWWW Moli…you don’t like Paigey?? I don’t know why I find that funny but I’m dying laughing about that.
IDK, I think Paige is a little dark horse. I agree that she has a memory problem that holds her back, but I really do love to see her dance. She was great in all the trios they did in Season 1 & she really did kick ass @ the ‘OMG A GYM FLOOR!?! OY’ comp. I think with more time & attention she could be so much better. She has the frame of a ballerina like Chloe & I like the way she performs when she’s confident, and besides the ‘WE HAVE A COMP TOMORROW & THEY’RE DOING ACRO WHERE’S PAIGE’S MUSIC’ episode I don’t remember her having any major flubs on stage. Sadly, she really does have a problem remembering dances & that can be fatal in the dance world.
Maybe Kelly will stop mugging for the cameras so much, and help her more. As a competitive cheer coach/gym owner, I know that any child with a memory problem benefits the most from practicing at home A LOT & that’s something Kelly needs to stress because she won’t practice on her own outside of the studio like she really, really should and if she doesn’t she will always be behind. I can’t tell you how much we stress that & get so annoyed when it’s not being done. Children that age really do need their parents making sure they do what they need to in order for them to succeed. Other than that, I like little Paigey! She’s the epitome of the forgotten one & imo, she is wayyyy better than Kendall too. Take a minute to look at the vid of there full dances and you’ll see what I mean.
I WILL turn you into a Paige fan, Moli!
@fancyface, or anyone else who knows these things: When Kelly bitches about the private lessons Maddie gets it confuses me because I assumed that you could get all the private lessons you want if you paid for them. Is that not the case? I too get the impression that Paige is not as invested in dance as Maddie or Chloe and Kelly sounds like a broken record to me.
The business about the kids not changing it up enough with their dance styles — could that be because they’re having to learn new routines for every competition, which must be for the sake of the show?
@maryedith….While yes, you can get as many privates as you can afford (which is actually a GREAT income boost for any gym or in this case studio), the problem comes up with scheduling. The more extensive your program is, the more students you have that request privates, & the less time you actually have available. Your coaches are there to coach the squad as a whole so they aren’t available during regular squad practice, so you have to schedule them around their normal schedule. With the gym only being open after school, that doesn’t leave much time available for privates. (it definitely gets easier during the summer time for the owner, but with parents having to work during the day, you usually end up keeping the later hours because many kids wouldn’t have a way to the gym during the day, but it does open up extra time for privates)
Let’s say you’re opened from 4-9, you have squad practice & maybe some tumbling classes scheduled for 3 or 4 of those hours, so that only leaves 1 or 2 hours available for privates. That’s why you hear them say Maddie gets so many privates because Melissa does the schedule because she would be the one putting in the requests for privates and since they are basically first come, first serve, (or who you prefer to get it…sad but true fact @ a lot of gyms) I can see how they feel that she puts her kids in first and every one else next.
But, if the child has a STANDING private, like Melissa keeps insisting is the case with her kids, then that’s a guaranteed spot, every week at the same time for as long as the parent wants to pay for it. That would be very difficult with most places unless you have coaches that specifically come in to do privates, which is by far the smartest thing to do if you have a lot of people who wants privates. That way, you wouldn’t have to work around the schedule of your standard coaches.
Space could also be a factor when it comes to privates. If you have a small gym or if every room is allocated for a class of some sort, finding space for a private could be a major issue as well.
So, that’s the problem with ‘not enough’ privates available. BTW, I know I said gym and coaches instead of saying teachers and studio, but my brain went into cheer gym mode because that’s my area of expertise, but it really is the same issue with a gym or a studio.
@Ashley S…..Great, great, GREAT point! Muscle memory is THE hardest thing to overcome when making small changes to a routine! It’s very tricky and could send a whole routine crashing! I think that may not be as big a deal here because these aren’t dances that they’re doing for a long time, but it DEFINITELY comes into play & may very well be the cause of the ‘forgotten’ dances and freak outs. I can see them forgetting the change that was made, realizing they messed up, and just freezing up.
In the competitive cheer world, if you attend a 2 day comp after the 1st day you get scoresheets & try to improve on anything the judges suggest you work on before you do the routine over the 2nd day. Sometimes, they’ll say something like “add combo jumps for more points” so you make that change, or if something didn’t work the 1st day you may water down a stunt or even add difficulty to it. Now, for experienced all-stars, this isn’t anything new, and they can quickly make the change, but even the best of them sometimes forget the change, because as you said, muscle memory takes over, especially when your adrenalin is pumping. If we’re going to a comp after something has been changed in the routine, we stress that they NEVER stop going even if they have to revert back to the old routine. It’s definitely easier for someone in a group to recover than it is for a soloist who’s so afraid of messing up. Again, what a great point that I never even thought to factor in!
I have always liked Maddie, she is a sweet girl. All of the girls are and I like all of them. I wish Paige got more solos, maybe she will until um… well, maybe she will. Brooke’s mood at the dance studio filming the show is totally different than her day to day life, it seems from pictures. She actually smiles IRL. I don’t think she wants to be a role model and specifically take care of the team… or maybe she doesn’t even know how. Nia seems sweet and I think she’d like to work harder on her dancing than she gets to sometimes. And, of course, I like Chloe… she’s so cute and a great dancer. Mackenzie went from being kind of the team mascot to kicking butt… and yes, Abby has noticed. I think when you have a really good mini you can clean up trophywise. We all know Abby sets a great store by trophies. But, I think Mackenzie will handle it better … meaning less stress… than Maddie. For one thing, she has Maddie and a lot more support from everyone because she’s too young to be serious competition to some of the others. Which, p.s. … have they ever noticed that Maddie is younger than everyone else? I mean… except Kendall. I wonder what they’ll do with her.
Maryedith, I have gone the totally crazy route and gotten engaged to someone who isn’t already married. Weird, I know. In spite of being able to get married tomorrow, IDK when… haha
Holly is probably pissed over something Abby twittered.
Oh my god I thought April was the biggest idiot on here, but fancyface wins! I thought I was a smug asshole but holy shit you take the cake. Can I take lessons from you? Jesus, I ain’t never seen nothing like you. I can’t even read your stuff you write so much bullshit. You need your own website you take took much room here. Where you from? Coz you ain’t from the burg and you don’t know nothing about nobody here, not me, not abby or the moms, and i guess josstasmoms and nanny too. Come visit me and teach me how to be the biggest most obnoxious asshole there is. please.
They had the private schedule up once. Maddie and Chloe had the same number of hours, Maddie’s was a little earlier. Then the other girls had an hour each rather than 1 1/2 hours. So, I don’t know if that was an usual week or what… maybe the private lessons thing is just not quite what it seems. IDK, really.
Ok, Pgh people… where do Abby’s parents live? PA or FL? (I don’t need their actual address, the state will be enough.) On TV, it seems like mostly PA except when they visit Florida. Btw, Abby’s mom is still listed as a teacher at Reigndance. Is that a purely honorary thing or does she drop by now and then?
I kind of get the impression things are really different with Abby helming the ship rather than her mother (and father). I know her parents are elderly. But, I have known plenty of family businesses where a very elderly person was still the boss behind the scenes.
I hate Teresa…comment 100!
Btw, does anyone wonder about the editing this episode?
Chloe said she was in the “bottom of her age division” of 9-11. She just turned 11. She was 10 when she fid that dance. Unless they have a weird way of figuring ages, she couldn’t be classed as 9. Not that it makes so much difference, but she’s a smart girl. She knows her age and her division. The editors, might not.
Then Abby said Mackenzie got first. I looked at the results. In no way did Big Mac get first. Unless Abby meant that Silver, Gold, Platinum stuff? She might have received a Platinum since Abby opined that she thinks the judges didn’t know Mackenzie left the stage early. But, we just went through those ratings with the Miami crew? But, maybe different editors and they had Abby say first instead of Platinum?
Also, Abby put her face right up in Kelly’s face. I mean nose to nose. Either Kelly was unable to move or she wasn’t really all that mad at Abby… yet.
gun kata: Abby’s father is deceased. Abby’s mom lives in Florida but does come back from time to time. I doubt if she still teaches, but I would bet she visits the studio on her trips here.
fancyface: I’m not putting anything out there that isn’t a matter of public record.
Seems like there are quite a few Pittsburghers on here. We should find a common meeting place to watch the show together.
I like Paige. She has a lovely dancer’s body, all legs. I also think she is super pretty and a good dancer. Reminds me of myself as a dancer. I had legs leg legs, but confidence issues and memory issues. I never messed up on stage because we did not do new dances all the time, but I did struggle with learning choreography super fast. Thus why I sucked at auditions. I am not good at learning that stuff off the top of my head
I think Paige shines at kinda jazz hip hop acro funk type dances and she just does not get enough of those. The one time she did at that gym floor competition, she won!
Josstassmom, thank you. I did not know about her father. I guess Abby doesn’t see her mother all that often.
btw, congrats on the engagement!
Josstas-mom, why thank you.
I just read on ABBY’S twitter about someone coming in at 4 a.m., but she has to leave soon. Does Miss Abby have a man? Maybe she’s not on the stress diet after all? if Abby gets skinny and gets a man this might become a whole different show.
Eww….bad visual!!!!
Yes, congrats, gun kata. Not only on the engagement but on the engagement to a man who will watch Dance Moms with you, even under duress, and — give you his thoughts on it!!!! What kind of lucky star were you born under?
@charlieswinning….Aww..You are sooo cute, Sweetie! And since you’re begging I guess I could spare a minute to help educate you. Here goes:
“Oh my god I thought April was the biggest idiot on here, (what has April ever done to you? lol…that’s not nice (in my Adrienne Maloof voice) but fancyface wins! (Yayyyy! I flove winning!) I thought I was a smug asshole (Idk about smug, but the asshole part seems fitting right about now) but holy shit you take the cake. (Yum! I love cake too! I actually made this kick ass homemade carrot cake last night because my daughter had the nerves to say she didn’t eat carrot cake. Paula Deen helped me show her the error of her ways because that shit was da bomb! I’ll share the recipe if you’d like) Can I take lessons from you? (ABSOLUTELY, I give cooking lessons, cheer lessons, tumbling lessons, stunting lessons, and I am a GREAT Professor of bitchology! Which course would you like to sign up for 1st? Judging by your comments, I ‘d say we’d better work on grammar lessons first. Deal?) Jesus, I ain’t never seen nothing like you. (And you ‘ain’t never seen me’ soooo…there’s that) I can’t even read your stuff you write so much bullshit. (But darling, how do you know what I write if ‘you can’t even’ read it? And that’s a shame because I really can be funny sometimes. Seriously. I’m HIGHLY amusing!) You need your own website (Uh sweetie, I already have my own website, thankyouverymuch! I am TheBomb.com!) you take took much room here. (I agree, I SO do! I can’t believe I haven’t been banned yet) Where you from? (*Where ARE you from) Coz you ain’t from the burg (Not only am I not from the ‘the burg’, I can’t even find that shit on a map! So you got me on that one.) and you don’t know nothing about nobody here, (So you’re saying I actually DO know something about the nobodies there? Because you know…double negatives and all….no? you don’t get it? figures!) not me, not abby or the moms, and i guess josstasmoms and nanny too. (True! The only thing I know about you is that your grasp on the English language seems to be questionable, at best. And I’m guessing you’re upset with me because when you yelled at us about this show being about MOMS because it’s in the title, I yelled back that DANCE is also in the title as well, so you really didn’t have a valid reason for calling us stupid for discussing the dancing on the show. But who knows…I say a lot of shit that pisses people off, apparently, so you could totally be upset with me for any number of reasons. I just don’t give two shits…..The only thing I know about JOSSTASMOMS is that she’s probably someone’s mom, she loves her mother and would do anything to save her house if she had to, she works with law firms, & she knows how to conduct an intelligent debate in the comment section (you should probably ask her for lessons too, btw)….The only thing I know about NANNIE is that she seems to be around 16 or at least, that’s what her ‘comebacks’ make her sound like. So another point for Charlie!) Come visit me (I will as soon as I locate ‘the burg’ on a map) and teach me how to be the biggest most obnoxious asshole there is. please.” (You totally don’t need lessons on that because you’ve got that covered, but if you’re interested in learning how to be a snarky, catty bitch, let me know. Because like I said…I rule at that shit! But to be fair, you probably couldn’t afford the lessons because my obnoxious ass is WAYYYY over priced! But thanks for saying please. It totally negated all the other shitty stuff you said
Whew, that was fun. I’m bored with you now. Run along and go play in traffic. Oh yeah, PLEASE!
@fancyface! IGNORE THE TROLL!
@charlieswinning – *they see me trollin’, they hatin’*
seriously, settle down. nobody’s taking your bait.
Bunnies.
I am totally LMFAO and ROTFL!!!! I hope I have that second one right (rolling on the floor laughing in case I didn’t!!!)! Everyone have a great weekend!
FancyFace,
I refuse to get into a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
Perhaps we could meet in front of the studio, the boardwalk or the AWM? You could follow me to Abby’s and note the address yourself!
If of course you are not inclined leave your trailer court, we can just agree that you are a indeed a wealth of misinformation and really nothing more than a simpleton behind a computer screen.
Great, this stupid fight continues. No one knows what’s going on with Abby and her mother because none of us has a personal relationship with either of them. Lots of frail elderly people are strong-willed and difficult for their kids to deal with. Abby could be evil or she could be doing the best she can with a tough situation. We don’t know. No matter what burg we live in. There’s nothing to fight about. Score ONE for the fucking troll.
This show can’t seriously be doing well enough that there is now a ALDC plane, right?!
Whoops… forgot the link… http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss210/hermajestylsd/abbylee.jpg
Lynnie: Thanks for pointing that out. Oh my! Maybe they figured it was cheaper to buy or rent them a plane instead of paying for separate air fares every weekend plus bus fares? Wow.
The ALDC plane? Woot! Let’s see: Abby and Gianna (2), Kelly and Paige and Brooke (3), Christie and Chloe (2), Melissa and Maddie and Big Mac (3), Holly and Nia (2), possibly one other dancer mom combo (2), production team (probably 5 or 6 people for competitions), plus all the crap… cameras, sound stuff, dancing gear, regular clothes, booze… a 20* passenger plane? Hm… yeah, it might be cheaper than 20 plane tickets, plus paying for extra bags plus buses, plus hotels (private plane might cut out hotel stays here and there), plus going to the package store is way cheaper than paying by the drink. Oh, pleasepleaseplease let someone put an ALDC sticker on that thing so we can hear Abby scream, “IT’S MY NAME ON THE PLANE!” *my estimate may be totally wrong
Cheaper to charter, I mean. But, like I really know…
@maryedith….I couldn’t resist! That troll BEGGED me and who am I to deny her my wisdom? Don’t worry, that’s all she’s getting from me.
@nannie…I’ve decided! You are indeed 16! Don’t you have some summer reading you need to take care of? And you’re right..I refuse to leave my trailer court (whatever that may be) to meet an uneducated adolescent unless you’re paying me or my time. Kudos for using all those big, smancy words though.
@maryedith…Again lol. I gave those dogs that bone a long time ago. If Nannie knew how to actually comprehend the words that are coming out of my fingertips, she would’ve realized that my reply to charlieswinning was about the comment she posted telling us to stop expecting to see dance on a show that has dance MOMS in the title, and not whatever they think they know about Abby’s personal life.
Anyhoo, I’m definitely on the ‘shut the fuck up’ about where Abby eats, sleep, bathes, or get laid as you can see in the post I’ve been making to try to get back to the show.
Like this plane business! Am I missing something? The show has a mutherfracking private plane for them? Seriously??
@gun kata…”Oh, pleasepleaseplease let someone put an ALDC sticker on that thing so we can hear Abby scream, “IT’S MY NAME ON THE PLANE!”
LMAO! I can DEFINITELY see Abby screaming that shit!
O.k., my cousin used to fly for this company which was large enough that they had two planes. Sometimes they were sent to fly someone else by the owner. I think this is probably how ALDC “has” a plane.
Fancyface, yes she would. And she would get told to find her seat. It would be epic!
“@nannie…I’ve decided! You are indeed 16! Don’t you have some summer reading you need to take care of? And you’re right..I refuse to leave my trailer court (whatever that may be) to meet an uneducated adolescent unless you’re paying me or my time. Kudos for using all those big, smancy words though. ”
Oh this ^ is rich. Playing the “teenager behind the screen” game. I am old enough to be your grandmother, Fancyface! Just face it kid. You stated something about Abby Miller that is not true. You didn’t like being corrected. You responded with nasty comments.
After reading through your comments, I now realize that you are the expert on every topic. You know far more than any other human being on the planet. You have more rich, insightful comments than the rest of us combined. Your grasp of the English Language is utterly remarkable and your knowledge of every television program ever aired is phenomenol. You have precise, accurate knowledge of every individual who airs their personal laundry, and know the director’s intent for each episode.
It’s always enlightening to read the words of a true narcissist, your posts confirm that they truly exist.
I’m off to watch my granddaughters’ recital. Though not as gifted as you obviously are, they are a lot more real.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjTpjLrMDHM
Here is a super cool number from Stars. It has all the dancers in it plus their Seniors. Now this dance I LOVE! They need to do more of this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=1cgQ-fEqlwc
Here is a pretty duet with Jessica and Brandon Chang from Stars I found too. I love Brandon. He is amazing!
Here is a link to Christi giving a recap of the episode herself
http://www.lifetimemoms.com/lifetime-shows-blogs/battle-begins-my-epsiode-14-recap?cmpid=Social_Facebook_Show-Blogs_06092012_4
Oh, man. What a disingenuous piece of hypocrisy that “recap” was. So Christi, who has wrapped her third season on a reality show, has no clue that Abby interviews might be edited? “And America agrees!!!” that actually gave me creepy chills.
All right, my fiance says we should always take Abby’s total lack of communication skills into account. What if by, “some children are special” she meant, “some children have special needs”? This is kind of how I took it as well. Maddie had a mini nervous breakdown. The other girls became upset and cried, but were fairly quickly calmed down by their mothers. How many times has Abby heard Melissa tell Maddie or Mackenzie “walk away from me”?
Maddie wanted comfort from Abby. The other girls like praise from Abby (which she has praised all of them on camera at least once). And she has hugged all of them on camera at least once. Don’t get me wrong, Abby needs to cut out some of her yelling with these girls. I know she thinks it is motivational. Maybe sometimes it is. But, after a long practice, it gets to be too much. Kids can’t work on one thing all day like adults can. They have to have a break. If the kids are to the point where they are flubbing up easy things that they could do perfectly an hour ago and crying at the drop of a hat, they have to have a break. This is why people traditionally send kids to bed earlier than the adults in the house. They need to rest. They are still growing.
Anyway, as far as Chloe’s dancing only being “fair”, I don’t even remember her saying that. I think she was talking about a specific dance or a specific genre of dance. She has also called Chloe “one of my best dancers.” I think Chrisiti is so fed up with Abby that she literally can only see the negative in Abby’s relationship to Chloe (and there is some negative there) or she is playing her part to the hilt. I don’t know which, but Chloe is a sweet girl and a good dancer so I hope it works out.
I have seen some really nasty comments about Maddie other places. People do realize she is only nine years old, don’t they? Some people were saying she deliberately played up to avoid dancing and being beaten. Maddie has lost before. Gym floor solos Paige was 1st, Chloe was 2nd, Brooke was 3rd. I just saw that one. Yes, she did have the fall, but she finished her routine so she was scored. The way Abby is talking in that episode, it was Maddie’s first major fall. Maddie cried a long time over that. The girl just stresses out too much. But, in the audience, Maddie was doing her little thing she does when she watches her friends doing well… kind of a little sitting down dancy thing. I got the impression she was pleased Paige was out there killing it.
Also, according to everyone’s tweets, they did have a break after the finale. However, there were twitter arguments. In one of THOSE someone said Chloe was as good as Maddie and Abby fired back, “oh you really think so” (as if to say nope, she’s not). I really don’t care which of them is better. That may change over time more than once anyway. I am sure people can make arguments for each girl being better no matter what Abby says.
@gun kata, it must have been that interview about Chloe’s solo where Abby said something like it was “acceptable.” It wasn’t the nicest thing she could have said, but she was comparing it to Chloe’s dancing in general, saying that Chloe had done worse and she had done better. Abby definitely thinks Chloe is a good dancer. Her whole problem with Chloe in season one was that she underrated herself and didn’t dance to her potential. The thing about Chloe being “cocky” started after the video. My suspicion is that it’s pretty clear on the set that Chloe is meant by the producers to be the underdog winner of the bogus rivalry between her and Maddie. Melissa and Maddie are tied to the studio both personally and financially, while Christi and Chloe are not. In Abby’s possessive mind this probably makes Chloe fair game — she’s trying to be a star on her own WITHOUT ABBY LEE DANCE STUDIO so why not take her down a peg or two? This is not right of Abby, but it makes me feel sorry for her.
And I think your fiance is spot-on about “special” meaning “need special things.”
Fancyface you are such a fucking legend in your own mind. I bet you are a fat 50 year old wanna be living vicariously through this show. And single. shut the fuck up. You don’t know nuthin’ about nuthin’!
Well at least Charlieswinning found someone else to bitch at instead of me. Yay?
April, yay. And so sad. FancyFeast, yay too.
@gun kata & maryedith…I think you guys are both SPOT ON! I too feel the same way Mr. Kata (he he) does. I think she definitely meant they had special needs because I can’t see an ounce of motherly instinct in Melissa. I’m sure she loves her daughters, of course, and we all parent differently, but she seems to have the emotional range of a teenager & is really incapable of consoling her kids the way they may need to be in that environment. She STORMS away from Maddie as if she’s fighting with an equal and her ‘walk away from me’ is definitely strange. At 1st I thought she may be saying that so she wouldn’t get overly aggressive with them on camera, (which is a bit scary) but now I just think that she has no idea what to do for them and Abby knows this and tries to pick up the slack.
I also think that she has a lot of admiration for Chloe’s dancing. There’s no way that she can deny that the girl can dance her ass off and she has said so many times. I keep flashing back to the talk she had with Chloe on the beach in season 1 after Christi told her she wanted to quit. Abby knew that she meant she needed a break from the pace they were at and she let Chloe know it was ok to feel that way. And then Chloe asked her if she thinks she was good enough to work on Broadway, and when Abby told her if she keeps going like she was, then she could do whatever she wanted to and her face lit up. Those girls really do want Abby’s approval & I really do wish she would give it more often. They would work even harder for her if she did, imo. She definitely needs to learn how to separate her feelings about the parents from the way she treats the kids.
As a coach, you’d think that it would never come into play, but it does, and you have to learn how to set it aside. I mean, at the end of the day we’re all human, so if we have a parent questioning what we’re doing because they feel like their child should be on top, even when they clearly don’t deserve to, you will have a gut reaction to hold the child back because their mom is an asshole. But you have to learn how to leave your feelings at the door and do what’s best for the child and the squad as a whole. But trust me folks, sometimes it’s REALLY hard not to tell Mrs. Smith to go take a flying leap because although little Susie can put her leg behind her head, she also isn’t the slimmest child & there’s no way she can be a flyer. IT. REALLY. REALLY. GETS. HARD! lol…you have NOOO idea.
@April…Yay indeed, Girly. *SMH*
@Nannie…AWWWWWW! Thanks Hon! I am so glad you have seen the light and realized that I am, in fact, the bee’s knees! Yayyy! Can we be beasties?
Err…BESTIES. Let’s be beasties and besties!
@Fancyface – I loved your comeback to Charlie boy! It gave me a good laugh!
As far as Melissa goes, I think she’s a perfectionist and can’t stand to have her kids be less than perfect on camera. So she freaks out and doesn’t know what to do when Maddie has a fit or does anything wrong. If she acts that way all the time, it would explain why Maddie is so tightly wound.
@Jazzy…Thanks
It had to be done. Well, not really, but it was fun.
So that’s what you think it is with Melissa? I can see that. Whatever it is, she needs to unclench before she drives Maddie batty.
I’m just glad MacK seems to be unfazed by her neurotic ass. Abby can’t even talk to that girl without a smile on her face. None of other cast members can either, so you can imagine how cute she is in person. That kid is living her life it’s golden & could give 2 shits about what’s going around her as long as she has a bag of chips
Btw, the other girls were not “judging” Chloe’s dance. They were giving her suggestions to improve. When I was the exact same age, this was just part of my life. In my case, some of these folks weren’t nice because they were much older. Those were three pieces of advice that would have been helpful to Chloe. I know the girls were uncomfortable, but it really is such a common thing. I am a bit surprised it has never happened before. But, if a kid cannot handle it then they really can’t handle being involved in a performance art. I have a feeling it was more difficult for Christi than it was for Chloe.
Learning to do this for yourself and others is very important. I know Abby didn’t explain that (at least on TV), but what she was doing has a legitimate and helpful purpose.
But I can’t imagine Abby thinking the other girls could help Maddie’s dancing in any way, can you? Until we see Maddie getting a peer critique I’m going to hold this one against Abby.
Maryedith, I am just saying… it’s just a thing and it is helpful. Everyone can benefit from it. Especially with a routine that is pretty new like this one. I don’t know why she wouldn’t want Maddie to have the same benefit. Spotting mistakes someone else makes (particularly someone good) helps learning how to spot and correct your own mistakes. The people get more out of it, I think, if they are close in ability. (Unless they’re trained as teachers.)
Abby can be really unprofessional and immature. So, I’m not really defending her. But, I’m just saying that is a common thing that shouldn’t be so upsetting. I don’t have a hard time imagining Abby wouldn’t bother to explain it. Which, in turn, makes it upsetting.
Oh, I should have said that I totally understood what you meant! It’s like peer review in English class, I guess. I don’t know why, but I hate it when Abby does things that make her such an easy target. Getting Maddie to demonstrate for the other girls and then getting the other girls to critique Chloe just looked so bad! I could see the producers gleefully rubbing their hands. Of course, both of those things could have been a part of a masterplan on Abby’s part to bring teamwork into the group, come to think of it. Maybe she’s planning to have them all critique each others’ solos from now on. But we may never know that, thanks to editing.
Maryedith, my fiance pointed out their critiques were very insightful. They each briefly mentioned one specific thing that she could do. Since we’re told they were “nervous” and “uncomfortable”, that’s kind of interesting. People who are nervous about critiquing someone often look for a very specific positive. But, their positives were pretty much “you did great.”
There was an episode partly devoted to Chloe winning her Joffery Scholarship (which was really great). But, on the ALDC website, the girls win lesser scholarships frequently. Maybe it’s just to an intensive that only lasts a weekend, but still… I think it’d be cool to do something about those covering all three studios. Just to show what serious dancers do to improve skills besides their regular classes, practices, and competitions.
Our dance studio did the critique thing too. We at least often took turns watching each other. Like in a group dance we would just have the front line perform it while the back line watched and then switch. It gave us a minute to rest and there is insight and value to watching others perform it because you can sometimes say “Oh I like how Susie really snapped her head on that move, it looked fierce, I am going to do that too from now on.”
I felt like commenting here just once because I have to agree with charlieswinning and Nannie. I stopped commenting on this site a long time ago because of FancyFace and people like her. Yes, she’s up for a “debate” – which means that if you don’t agree with her, she bitches you out. I like hearing other people’s differing opinons, and hate it when those people get knocked for it. So don’t you see that she is the one who is a “troll”? You can never win against them, they think they know everything and always find multiple ways to demean you and your views. Ugh.
Please come back Sahara! Your comments and snark are needed.
I hate to hear when people leave.
Yes, Sahara! I left Tvgasm for a while a couple of years ago because it seemed like a few aggressive people were making it so you couldn’t say anything without getting jumped on and attacked for something you didn’t mean. Then I started reading again. And then I timidly started commenting again by addressing my comments specifically to the people who seemed nice. I think there are way more nice people on here than mean ones.
What Maryedith said. And honestly that is just the internets in general. There is always going to be trolls and people who want to be negative or have it out for you, etc. Just ignore them and talk to the nice ones.
@Sahara..hi hon. nice to meet you? Fyi..charlieswinning came along & decided to yell at us for wanting to discuss the dancing on this show & that if we wanted to discuss dancing we should watch a different show..now, idk about anyone else but I took offense to that & told her so…she in turn got nasty with me so I responded in kind. (although I thought was rather nice to her in my reply. I even offered her a cake recipe ffs
)
If you were familiar with me then you’d know I don’t attack people, but I WILL defend myself when someone addresses me negatively. Period! Now, if that’s your definition of a ‘troll’, I will wear the title with pride.
It’s a good thing we all have this thing called free will, because anytime you see the name fancyface…you can skip right over that shit & not read what I write. Seriously, that free will shit is awesome!
Honestly, I think we’re all over looking this show’s most important issue and question. Which is, will Maddie get braces to fix her atrocious overbite, or will she grow up to look like Baby Lisa from Dog the Bounty Hunter?
teehee
I just don’t understand how FancyFace was apparently crowned Super Supreme Mean Girl w/extra Snark, when she was the only one who tried repeatedly to end the debate about Abby’s freaking house, to no avail.
@sparkle….so you don’t think she’ll grow into those things either? Lol. But seriously, I’m sure she’ll be fine. When my son was her age, I called around trying to find a dentist that had the youngest age requirement for braces because I was afraid he would hurt someone with his overbite, Cut to 10 years later & his smile is his best feature..no braces needed. So there’s hope
@grammydi….I’m trying to figure that out as well. Who cares…knows, knows! I meant who knows
Sahara,
It is not the debate that I disagree with. It is her method of delivery. I am certain that we can disagree without getting slammed by people who pretend to be authorities on every subject ever written about or discussed.
For what it’s worth, Abby is terrified about the possibility of losing her mom’s house, and the studio. She has less students than ever before, and yet her obligations haven’t declined. No matter what we see on this silly tv program, you cannot condemn others like Josstasmom and me simply because we know some things that you may not. Abby’s 15 minutes of fame will pass soon enough. I just hope she can make enough to save her home and livelihood.
What actually happened is that some people were gloating over the fact that Abby was having financial issues & that her house was in foreclosure. I CORRECTLY told them that while yes, Abby has financial problems like alot of other people in the world, but does not, in fact, have a house in foreclosure & even if she did, wtf does that matter. THEN there were people tripping over themselves to prove me wrong. Then after they acquiesced the fact that she doesn’t have a house in foreclosure but her mom does, which again wtf does that have to do with anything…they came back & said that Abby should be ashamed of herself for ‘letting’ that happened as if she sat back & did nothing & when I called them out for that foulness, they want to play victim as if ‘attacked’ them. End of. I could give two shits about what they think they know or what they assume I don’t know about Abby. So if you want to accuse me of something, make sure it’s legit.
Full recap?
The only thing Maddie is going to grow into is some major head gear. Melissa better put her mouth to work to pay for all that.
“Super Supreme Mean Girl w/extra Snark,”
Funnest title ever. Wear that shit with pride, FF. Lucky bitch.
Maddie cannot get her teeth braced just yet. She has to have some back teeth pulled and her molars are not pronounced enough to remove her baby teeth. Some children can have the braces on quite early, unfortunately Madison has to wait.
It was sorta funny the first time, now its annoying.
damn cat waking over keyboard. It was sorry funny because I thought it was a segue from the current conversation.
sorry=sorta…
Having four teeth pulled is pretty common, I think. Also, it is easy to forget Maddie is only nine since several girls are eleven. I knew a lot of people who got braces at eleven. I would have except RL smackdown caused a delay so I got them at 12. Also, Maddie just has big teeth. She’ll grow into them.
Oh Sparkle how I love thee!!
Did you guys read Christi’s blog via that link April posted? If so, did you find it as disingenuous as I did? I really like her, but her obsession with making fun of Abby is overshadowing the concern she use to have about Chloe’s dancing. It felt like she was fighting for her daughter in the first season, now it’s like she’s just fighting for camera time. Idk but something definitely feels different about her.
@fancyface, I commented about that.
I thought it was pretty disgusting.
I read one of her earlier blogs and she said she stopped blogging for awhile because people left nasty comments about Chloe on there. I sincerely hope not. They can insult Christi if they want, but to insult a sweet little girl like that? Horrible!
maryedith, you see how fancyface is? she don’t give a shit if you commented, it’s only her. Look. I know I’m an ass. I’m a proud gay African-American male (so I don’t mind the female reference to me) and all I went through in my life growing up, I’m not about to use tact or a filter. I say what I want, when I want, how I want, and to who I want. I KNOW how I come off. I KNOW it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. I don’t try to be anything but me. Fancyass is just so far up her own ass she could be her own colon and she wants us all up there, too. Fuck her. I’m my own person. And again, she don’t know what the fuck she’s talking about proving people wrong. All she did was prove herself to be an idiotic loudmouth who doesn’t know anything but how to blow smoke up her own asshole. Like I said, IN MY OPINION, she’s probably a fat 50 year old wannabe living vicarously through this show and probably alot of other shows. Maybe she’s a mob wife, too, and is besties with Big Ang.
Well, I will say that I did realize after I’d said it that you’re not a troll, charlie, and I should have apologized for calling you that. I really thought you were just trying to cause a fight at that time and that you didn’t know who anyone was. Now I realize you really do dislike some of the people on here. But April isn’t fair game — she never says anything offensive at all!
OMG, fancy please say you are Big Ang’s bestfriend!!!! I adore Big Ang <3
Charlie, I went back and read your comments in a honey badger voice and for some reason that made me kind of love you.
Because you are so nice I’ll apologize to April….she ain’t too bad, just gets on my nerves and I don’t know why….sorry April. For real. Fancyass just really irritated me when she did her sad imitation of “ebonics” to josstasmom then when I did it to her she accuses me of not knowing how to use the English language. Who does that? I’m not playing the race card, but really? Would she talk to Holly like that? She is so mind-numbingly opinionated, it’s her way or no way and that’s intolerable to me.
@maryedith…I remember reading your comment about the blog now. Was any word in that thing genuine? Ugh
@charlieswinning…You’re an ass & there is nothing more that I could say to make you look worst than you make yourself look with your asinine comments, so congrats.
@moli..I freaking wish I was because Big Ang rocks lol. But I’m not. Sad I’m Not Big Ang’s BFF Horns
BTW, are you watching Mob Wives Chicago? If so, how about those apples, eh? WTF was that fight about? Lol…So. Many. Questions! Is anyone recapping it? *crosses fingers*
fancy, did you see the chicks that look like a funny looking Karen(wow on that one) and a funny looking Drita(please don’t beat me up Drita). I got a little lost on the fight, I may have to watch it again. Can;t wait until next month a whole freaking Big Ang bonanza
I heart Mary Edith.
