I’m sure they’ll be thrilled to see us!
Good morning, Gasmii! Oh, how I’ve missed you all. So glad to be back!
Anyway, this was kind of a boring, yet WTF, episode. So we begin with Paige, who has a broken foot and can’t dance for four to six weeks. That poor kid can’t catch a break.
This week, the girls head to Starbound in Philly. The group number is an ode to mimes. Ok, not really, but it is Fronch-themed. Mackenzie gets a solo, as does Brooke. However, Brooke has a sore back and the fate of her Anne Frank solo (yep. Anne Frank.) is in jeopardy. By the way, Kelly doesn’t know who Anne Frank is. I will reserve comment on that before I’ve had a full cup of coffee.
Chloe and Paige are supposed to do a duet, but that’s not gonna happen, seeing as Paige has a broken foot and all. Meanwhile, Shrill is back, and her attempts to manipulate Jabby into letting Kendall replace Paige in the duet are about as subtle as a tsunami. However, her machinations are unnecessary as the producers obviously needed a way to bring Kendall “back” and her spot in the duet is inevitable.
Finally, Maddie goes off to Atlanta to film her role on Drop Dead Diva but she returns in time for the competition, where Jabby – again – weirdly accuses everyone of being jealous of her and Chloe of being a sneak. WTF, right? Naturally Christi loses it and there is much screaming and rending of garments, or you know, Tuesday.
Next week’s episode looks all kinds of awesome. I hope it lives up to the previews.
Check back for the full recap in a couple of days. Until then, if you need to catch up, you can read about the last episode here.
Thanks so much for reading and have a great day!

My 9yo watched the episode with me. After hearing Paige say in the first few minutes, “It’s broke” and “Me and Chloe have a duet,” my kiddo asked, “don’t these girls go to school?”
Gack. I HATE to agree with Abby. Hate it. But she was right – Paige shouldn’t have done that back tuck on a concrete floor, and Abby warned her about it.
Also, Jill is clearly smoking the same crack as the Crazy Apples…”Can’t we move on?” brought back shades of Crazy Cathy’s little song and dance about moving on!!!!
This show makes even less sense than usual. Why couldn’t the moms just watch Maddie’s DDD dance and smile and say nothing? Why is Chloe a sneak? Were her tears real? WTF is going on?
Also, I hope it’s fake that Kelly doesn’t know who Anne Frank is. But I’m not sure. If it is true, then I hope she isn’t homeschooling her kids as some people have said. God help them.
I thought Chloe’s tears looked very real. Probably because her Dance teacher who she probably loves and looks up to and values her opinion insulted her in front of everyone. Would make me cry too.
I don’t watch DDD but I might for that one episode.
I liked the group number. It was sloppy because of lack of prep as usual but otherwise would have been a very cute number. I liked Brooke’s costume. Not sure about an Anne Frank dance. Mac did great but it was all acro. Need to teach and let her do more dance in her numbers. Same with Brooke.
I worry about Brooke a lot. I am a back pain sufferer myself and for her at that young to have that much pain is disturbing. I think they need to see an orthopedist and not just a chiropractor. Of course most doctors would just say “Don’t dance anymore” and that is not a very good solution either unless that is what Brooke wants.
I haven’t watched this show in a year or so, can’t stand all the yelling, but I turned it on last night just for some mindless TV. As soon as Kelly said she’d never heard of Anne Frank I turned it off. There’s mindless and then there’s brainless. What kind of cave (or attic) would you have to live in for, basically, your whole life to not have heard of Anne Frank? I fervently it’s not true that she homeschools, as a previous poster said.
*fervently hope
@Jazzy don’t worry, I’m almost positive those kids are not homeschooled. They have a tutor for when they miss school due to filming.
The preview for next week showed Crazy Cathy with her choreographers again. Looks like they made a schoolgirl-costumed stripper-escent routine, including Vivi. Oy vey. Also, Melissa screaming at Christi “I DID NOT HAVE AN AFFAIR WITH MY BOSS.”
But isn’t that exactly how Melissa began, um, “dating” her then-married (and still married!) boyfriend, Greg Gisoni? She went to work at Westinghouse where he was/is an executive?
I believe that is how she met her “fiancee” (if we are allowed to say that..?) was when she was working for him. He was married, and she was married (he still is). He also, from what I have heard, bailed Abby out and co-owns her studio. Basically she was about to lose it, and he saved it. This is what I heard, and may be wrong… I think there was some “help” though, just not sure how much, but does help explain why the blatant favoritism towards Maddie. Also, Maddie is always there because her mom was always there and leaves her there. Abby says Chloe and the rest aren’t as dedicated because they are not “always there, like Maddie”, but I think that has more to do with the mothers having them there constantly, or not..
Seeing Chloe break down like that just broke my heart. No way was that acting. That was real and made me just want to slap the hell out of Abby! What a cold-hearted bitch to do that to a sweet little girl!! She needs professional help!!
Another episode that left me confused at the end. WTF editing team? This episode was so erratic I feel like I literally had no idea what was really happening!
Also, Jill is really messed up.
Jill: “I see Paige broke her foot.”
Abby: “She /didn’t/ break her /foot/. She broke her /toe/ up into her /foot/!”
Ummm… What difference does it make?
Probably the subtle difference of breaking a finger (jamming a finger?) and breaking a hand. Either way she can’t dance.
You guys better watch out! Melissa might be sending you cease and desist letters if you keep talking about her relationship. LOL!
What Abby did to Chloe was reprehensible…and everyone wonders why all the other people dislike Maddie, Melissa and Abby…maybe because you are cruel, miserable, pathetic and jealous idiots who wouldnt know fair if it slapped you in the face! Sleeping with your boss while he is married …the actually fact that Melissa can do that then be on camera with her self satified smirking evil attitude just makes me want to “break her foot”
@ Karen I can see you saying those things about Abby’s treatment of the kids, but why throw a 10 year old child into that? Maddie has never done anything to make her look cruel, miserable, or pathetic. And the times she’s been jealous, you can consider that part of being 9 and 10 and growing up. Also, unless you know first hand about Melissa’s alleged affair, then you don’t really know what happened, this is badly edited tv.
I didn’t see that big of a deal about Maddie showing her DDD dance, they all viewed Chloe’s commercial for the jerky thing that she did, and wasn’t that in the green room? They’ve also talked to Brook over the phone before her 8th grade dance.
i was disappointed when they kept playing that “sneak” scene before commercials, and then nothing really happened. it looked so much more dramatic out of context.
@gwen: yes to what elle said (about the hand analogy), but i also think she was saying it as a sort of “mind your own business” statement, like a “you don’t know the facts, and why are you even trying to get involved?” type of thing. i would have done the same, because i would be really annoyed at jill’s behavior.
and to those who said they don’t see what the big deal is with maddie showing her ddd dance, i agree. i think that was just a push for one last “dramatic” moment in the episode … i doubt anyone would *really* react that way.
I don’t think that Karen was necessarily saying anything bad about Maddie (Karen, correct me if I’m wrong..). I think what she was saying (again, correct me if I’m wrong) is that Melissa and Abby are making it harder for her to be liked, simply because they are putting her into these positions that are obviously just going to cause division between her and her friends. Not Maddies fault. It is Melissa’s fault, in my opinion, because she’s the mom and she should just say, “NO!” No, I’m not going to bring in her crowns to rub them in all the girls’ faces. No, I’m not going to sneak her off and do another show when the other girls aren’t asked to, or even told about it. There’s a lot she can say NO to. Obviously Abby is just evil and cruel and lacks empathy for these children. She hates some of these moms (most of them) and she knows to hurt them (the moms) is the hurt the children, and that is so SICK!! Anyway, I may be wrong, but that is what I got from what Karen wrote.. I actually feel really sorry for Maddie because she is always being put in these obviously very uncomfortable situations where her teacher and her mom are telling her to do something, but you can tell she feels uncomfortable about it and wants to be one of the girls too (she wants to fit in with her friends and stay friends with them), but Abby and Melissa are ruining her friendships. Right now the girls all seem very supportive, but how long is that going to last? I mean, you can only stand so much of how WONDERFUL, how SPECIAL Maddie is, and your kid isn’t.. Right? I don’t know. Boggles my mind really.
Also, I thought it was really rude to say, “she (referring to Maddie) might not be talented in 5 years, look at Brooke!” Wow! Pretty rude!!!
Another thing. One one of the deleted scenes that they show on lifetime that didn’t make it into the show, but they will show the scene on the lifetime channel.. Kelly is talking about the drop dead diva role and I found it interesting that they wouldn’t allow Brooke to even audition for the role because they told her it was for a BLONDE, and Brooke was brunette. The casting call specifically said they were looking for a 13 year old Blonde. So this is partly why Kelly was pissed because Brooke is the closest to 13, and she wasn’t even allowed to audition, then they went with a brunette anyway- a 9 year old brunette. I do think this was all pre-arranged and the auditions meant nothing, which is mean because the girls probably didn’t know that and they probably felt they had a good chance… Anyway, I just thought that little bit of info was interesting.
From KRB’s statement I think what was being said was why would Maddie even be apart of the equation. She’s nine/ten. Why would someone not like Maddie because of her mother and Abby is the question at hand.
@classy drunk– you’re right. Maddie shouldn’t be part of the equation. I was just thinking the wording from what Karen was saying might have been confusing, and giving her the benefit of the doubt that she didn’t mean anything disrespectful towards Maddie.. This is just my guess, I really don’t know. I do know (as I have a 13 year old daughter myself) that a lot of young girls watch this show, and THEY do tend to take sides and the more Abby is favoring Maddie, the less she seems to be liked by the public (maybe it’s just human nature to want to defend the one being pushed around, put down, etc..), and the more that Chloe especially is beloved by other little girls. Also, the other girls are too, but Chloe is particular seems to be quite adored by the public. Now, I’m an adult and I can look at what they are doing on this show and I feel really bad for Maddie, BUT as I said, there are a lot of little girls watching this show that have a harder time understanding that it’s not Maddie that’s doing this, but her mom and teacher. Personally, I think ALL of these little girls are amazing!! Not only are they great little dancers, but they seem to share a special bond and truly love eachother and they just melt my heart when I see them signing, “I LOVE YOU” from across the stage, or hugging and telling eachother they love them, or when one messes up they are there with their arms around her. The girls are wonderful!!
@Dani – Yes, I was more on the side of , take the little girl out of the convo… It’s obvious that Maddie has felt really awkward in several situations, is it because it’s fake or that she thinks it’s real? We’ll likely never know. As a semi-adult (24, LOL!) I can see the teen side of things, but these girls seem to really like each other and I really think that most of the drama is for the show. Maddie said on twitter that Brooke is her best friend, but she likes all the girls, and the moms post pics of them all hanging out outside of dance… I think that if someone has kids watching the show they just have to explain that most of the situations are setup, but the dancing is real.
I thought Maddie looked very bored or uncomfortable during the reenacting of the DDD dance. I was wondering because she knew it would upset someone and did not really want to do it or she didn’t want to show off. I feel sorry for Maddie. She is very talented and just wants to be friends with the other girls.
@Dani—Abby never outright said Brooke wasn’t talented, Kelly just took it that way because Brooke is 5 years older than Maddie.
Seeing Chloe break down like that not only broke my heart, but made me decide to quit watching this show. I’m done. Scripted or not, you do not attack a 10 yr old kid. That was beyond disgusting.
Looks like the insanity will not stop with Dance Moms, HEY GUUUUUUYS, Jabby got her own show:
http://www.tvguide.com/News/Dance-Moms-Abby-1051647.aspx?rss=news&partnerid=spi&profileid=05
I heard that about Abby’s new show too. I will probably watch it.
oh, god, isn’t dance moms already-kinda abby’s show???
I just feel bad for these kids. They’re victims of their famewhoring mothers who allow them to be exploited by their equally-as-famewhoring dance teacher an manipulative producers. I’m sure, in real life, these kids are lovely. Except maybe Jessi from DMM. She seems like a real brat. If I ever threatened to slap my mom if she took me out of my gym, you can sure as hell bet I wouldn’t be doing gymnastics anymore. The fact that Abby now has this new show on top of Dance Moms shows how much more fame matters to her than her students. She will literally have no time for her studio anymore. I just think it’s sad.
