Minicap: Dance Moms

Good morning Gasmii,

First of all, a hearty congratulations to Westminster Best in Show winner Banana Joe. He has the best name ever.

Even a guy named Banana Joe thinks these bitches are crazy

On to business. I don’t even know what to say about this week’s episode. I feel like this show is devolving to the point that, by the finale, it will be a straight-up snuff film.

Christi and Chloe are no-shows, so Jabby pulls a “she didn’t quit, I fired her” by suspending them. And Christi is also apparently not returning any of Kelly’s messages, either because Kelly said something about Hat-drop-gate or because of something else entirely. We’ll never know.

This week, the girls go to Detroit where they have to face off against Crazy Apple Cathy and her Apple Cores. Kendall is on top of the pyramid for the first time ever, so she’s getting a solo. Can she handle the pressure?

Guess who else is FINALLY getting a solo? Yep, it only took seven weeks and one Christi meltdown, but Maddie’s finally getting another chance.

Paige and Nia are assigned a duet, but Jabby doesn’t take kindly to Holly’s calling her an “evil monstrosity” (I guess the truth hurts) so she pulls it last-minute.

Jackie and Sophia come back for literally 5 minutes of screen time and then disappear without a trace.

At the competition, Jabby gets into a fight with one of Cathy’s dance dads, then she and Cathy throw down in the green room. Oh, and Shrill gets in on the action too.

Did I miss anything? Probably. Well, I’ll have it all for you in the recap. Check back in a couple. Until then, you can catch up here.

As always, thank you SO much for reading. This show is getting so ridiculous that pretty soon no one will  be watching, so I appreciate your sticking with me.

Have a great day!

xoxo,
SnoopK8

This show has jumped the shark. I refuse to believe any parent would allow someone to treat their children the way Abby treats them. This has to be fake. Once the cameras are off, Abby hugs the girls, they all laugh together and go out for ice cream. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself to get over the guilt of still watching this crapfest. Those poor kids:(

I post on a real Dance Moms board and some of them are at the comps with these girls. They report to having to refilm fights and even forgetting dance scenes and stuff multiple times to get it right. So that lends to it being very fake. They have admitted themselves at times it was fake when I watched an interview with Cathy and Abby on the Rosie internet show.

I thought the group dance sucked. The technique was good but the concept was confusing and I doubt the judges got it. I did not like Cathy’s group that much either. The girl only being on stage a few seconds was weird. They did look more together. Judges like fun numbers though and it was at least a fun number. Jalen is one heck of a talented b boy.

I like Sophia’s mom and Sophia. It was weird for them to come back just for like one day of practice. Odd. I had no idea about Nia’s health issues. It makes her such a brave girl to try to dance when she is in pain. Dancing is good for her but the stress is probably not. She needs to go to a low pressure studio with nice teachers.

I loved Maddie’s costume but was not impressed with her solo that much. Kendall’s music was weird but I love her costume too. Looks like they get to do their duet next week that Abby pulled this week.

According to some of the moms on that dance moms board Kendall did win but they didn’t show it because she was in mini divison or something like that. They also said the producers put her in the wrong age category? We might need to look up the actual results if the comp posts them.

@Sparkle Abby did that in an episode. She took the kids all out for ice cream when they were someplace for a competition. She does do some nice things for them but the producers only show the bad things she does. The girls said this at some interview they all went to that I saw on youtube.

I was thinking, if Nia was in a wheelchair 3 summers ago, wasn’t that like right before they did Dance Moms?

I only watch the show for the dancing. You know, like people buy ‘Playboy’ for the articles.

Between Abby, the fights, and just the stress of being on a TV show watched by millions with cameras around all the time, I can’t understand what Holly is thinking in letting Nia be apart of this when it is obviously going to be a cause of this pain she gets. Where are her priorities?

Kendall didn’t place because she was placed in the wrong category… stupid producers screwing with a 9yo.

Sigh. When I was in high school, I really thought that people grew up as they got older and SURELY once they had children. The world (and Dance Moms) has shown me differently and I am so disappointed.

I would be so embarrassed if I was 10 and my mom was on television screaming and fighting with other grown women. Heck, I would be embarrassed if my mom did that and WASN’T on television.

All these women are disgusting. Even if it’s fake, it has to be damaging to those kids. I’ve said it before, but if the parents/teachers want to scream like banshees, then at least take the kids to another room first. They don’t need to witness that.

Affenpinschers are adorable and that picture motivated me to leave a comment.
This episode was ridiculous. I did love Abby’s face when she threw the water at Cathy. Cathy needs to be institutionalized and then Vivi could be free!

I was so disgusted by Abby being so hateful to Nia and Paige that I was rooting for the Candy Apple’s (Apple Core’s?) to win.
Not sure I can stand this show much longer. I really don’t like seeing children cry because their feelings are hurt by an ADULT woman. I may have to graduate to just reading the awesome recaps and not actually watching the show.

I’m excited for next week because I saw in the preview Nia and Paige get to do their duet! Yay! They deserve it and I hope they will win and show Abby that they are spectacular! :)

Oh and also, do any of you think the reason why Abby was crying was because she found out her dog died and not because of Cathy? Kind of like when the last time they got beat by Candy Apples and she was sobbing her mom died? Maybe Candy Apples should just let Abby win because if my hypothesis is true, then everytime they beat her someone close to Abby died.

Any parent that would bring their child to Crazy Cathy should have their children taken away. That woman is psycho. I don’t care if it’s \fake\ for the show – no normal person would even “fake” acting like that on a reality show.

Who is Vivi’s father? She doesn’t look a thing like Cathy at all.

I enjoyed all the fake screaming, purse banging and water squirting!

I don’t think Abby’s mom is dead. She was sick that one time Abby was crying and in the hospital but I believe she is still alive. I think Abby was even talking to her on the phone in this episode. Broadway Baby did die recently though so it could be.

    Vivi is adopted from Guatemala.

I assumed it was a pun, and that the boys were the Apple Corps?

Anyway, this is counterintuitive, but kids with RND (and adults with RSD/CRPS, same thing) aren’t necessarily advised to avoid or minimize stress throughout their lives, although stress can contribute to flare ups and so for some people it has to be managed. The disease/syndrome isn’t actually caused by stress–there has to be some initial injury, although it can be a tiny little injury that triggers years and years of debilitating pain. (Avoiding using the painful body part can make things worse. It is a truly bizarre condition, and the show–shockingly, LOL–didn’t really provide a nuanced explanation.) Anyway, I don’t think Holly is a bad mom for putting a kid with a history of RND on this show. I question ALL the moms’ judgment for subjecting their kids to this, but I don’t think Nia’s medical history is necessarily relevant to the issue of whether Nia’s parents should have put her on this show.

Long-time reader, 1st comment: this episode physically made me feel bad. I have read in the past weeks people saying \I just can’t watch this show anymore\ & I feel I’ve reached that point with this episode. The arguments & strife throughout this episode was too much.

I think its Apple Corps. Like Marine Corps. I guess its the rare young man dying to be a candy apple had to toughen it up.

When I took Dance back in the 80′s, my mom (and all moms) dropped us off and then came back and picked us up from dance. Do these moms have nothing else to do but sit there and watch their kids practice??

The editing on this show is odd. Or the storyline. Whatever. So Jackie and Sophia just never show back up without a call or anything. Abby actually is shown trying to find out what is going on with them. Then she later says she kicked them out. What?!

@she stinks! : Cathy actually adopted vivi from Guatemala . I remeber reading that somewhere when the show had first started. Vivi is not Cathy’s biological daughter

@rebecca – The dance studio I worked for had one-way mirrors and it was about 50/50 with moms dropping off the kids and moms staying to watch their kids. Or work at the desk to help pay for classes. That is one of the few aspects that doesn’t surprise me about the show!

My mother never stayed when I danced. Most moms dropped the kids off unless it was really young girls or they only had one class so they were only there a short time. My son is in dance but the classes he takes only last 1 hour and so I wait. The studio is 45 minutes away and it is in the middle of nowhere so nothing for me to do but wait.

Many times we did hang out at the gym, but if the coach caught our daughters looking at us instead of practicing, we were told to leave. I believe these moms have to stay to stir up the pot, so to speak. And if we wanted to be mean and gossip…we did it the mature way…we went outside so the victim could not hear us.

The dance moms have reached a new low , they are now “sponsoring” or promoting or whatever these money hungry people wanna call it, cleaning products on twitter , I saw Christi and Kelly both tweeted something like , “I dread cleaning our bathrooms, so flag CLR cleaning products had my #dancemomsclean, seal of approval” , for real ???? Is this real anymore ?!?! I mean these women are getting paid to tweet about products via twitter , and all us dance moms obsessed losers (myself included) are the ones allowing it to happen . Ughhh oh well ill continue watching , I actually enjoy watching the girls dance

I can see these moms telling the children they are “acting” when the producers script things.. well i mean technically they are acting, but i can see the mothers convincing their children its like being on an actual TV show, not just “reality” tv.. i dont even know why they call it reality tv anymore.. I mean the girls seem sweet, but imagine what big egos these kids are going to have all because of their crazy mothers.

This sounds really weird but in the scene where Abby is wearing the blue and black ALDC jacket, (in the dance studio when shes looking for sophia) it looks like shes not wearing a bra, or if she is , its not holdin those things up! ahah thought id give everyone a good laugh and an excuse to re watch the show !

On the parents staying to watch practice, I really don’t find it strange. In just about every other sport parents stay to watch, baseball, basketball, football are all sports my step-son plays and the parents always stay to watch. He’s about to go to Jr. High and that’ll change because practices will be right after school, but if it’s in the evening why not enjoy your child doing what they like?

Sorry, but Abby’s taking the girls out for ice cream or whatever is like when someone abuses their child and then hugs them and takes them out to get a new toy or something. It’s messing with their minds, that’s what abusive people do to get the people they are abusing to stick around or not tell. Anyone who says that woman is a good person and they just don’t show it is full of it. I just don’t buy that and I don’t see how anyone could. The moms scream at the coach because she treats their kids like shit. Should they do it in front of the kids, no, but I can see where they are coming from, if someone treated my kid that way, I would certainly be calling
her an evil monstrosity, fatass, etc. (before pulling my child out of that studio, of course).

I didn’t care for any of the dances this week. That’s the only part I’m tuning in for at this point, and I was not impressed. They look tired and just not into it. Those kids seriously need a break. I didn’t see it during practice, but something tells me Nia and Paige just wouldn’t make a good pair…that will be interesting to watch next week. Then again, they are both good at acro, and neither of them are particularly graceful or anything, so maybe they will work out better than I think. Maddie’s solo looked the same as every single other solo, and Kendall…sorry, she’s a cute kid with a gorgeous face, but her dancing just doesn’t do it for me. Does anyone else remember when Maddie did the jazz solo in the black and gold costume? She didn’t win, but that solo was a “wow” solo to me. I know jazz isn’t her favorite, but I would love to see her with another jazz solo, she was fantastic with a more upbeat routine! She needs to be challenged more if she wants to improve.
