Minicap: Dance Moms Miami

By SnoopK8 | | 9:52 am | 37 Comments

Good morning, Gasmii. Well, I’m not really sure why we were off last week, but I was happy to have a break and regroup. Remember, I promised to have a better attitude and I do! I didn’t throw one thing at the TV last night. That’s a step in the right direction.

So last night was the long-anticipated duet between Sammy and Hannah and there was some drama, but not involving the people you would think. Bob, as expected, complained a lot, but Abby was surprisingly restrained. That’s not to say she was totally gracious, but I will give her props for not being a complete bitch. Instead, the role of the complete bitch will be played by Brigette this week. It doesn’t take much to stir up these hornets and she was carrying a 5-foot stick.

The kids go to “Energy” in Michigan, where Kimmy and Jessi have solos. Kimmy has to turn from nerd into “bad” girl, which is adorable. Jessi has also been a lot nicer lately. If you’re keeping track, you’ll notice that Lucas doesn’t have a solo or a duet and that does NOT go over well with Brigette, who handily earns her new nickname Bitchette.

The theme for group number is “discipline,” but there’s no drama regarding that, surprisingly.

Sparks do fly, but only because of the massive wildfire near the studio that forces them to evacuate in the middle of rehearsal.

Award-wise, Kimmy gets fourth place for her solo and Jessi wins second. Someone from another studio named “Chloe” wins fifth place. Could that be our Pittsburgh Chloe? The group number comes in first, so VictAng are happy. And the duet wins a platinum award. Could somebody please explain that to me? VictAng called it a “special” award, and I don’t recall anyone (in Pittsburgh) ever winning one, so is it different from a regular award? Everyone seemed pretty happy about it, so I guess it’s not a bad thing. Either that or they were just being nice for once. Although, I have to say, the duet actually wasn’t that bad. Hannah did the best I’ve seen her dance so far. (See how positive I’m being?)

The best part of the episode by far was the sneak peak of regular Dance Moms, where Kelly loses her shit and screams at Jabby. I sooooooo can’t wait for Pittsburgh to come back.

Anyway, I’ll have the full recap in a couple of days. Until then, you can totally read the one from two weeks ago here, if you so desire.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

xoxo,
SnoopK8

FINALLY one of those moms puts Abby i her place…I LOVED IT!!! If they are asking us to feel sympathy for Abby because she is a raging bitch fat-ass they aren’t getting it from this viewer…SHE is hipp0-crytical (yeah HIPPO) and does all the stuff she asks the girls not to….BTW I know Miami is taking a lot of heat, but Victor and Angel are a helluva a lot better teachers than Abby. They can at least fit in a leotard!

Yeah, I was glad to hear Kelly go off on Abby, though I don’t like the fat comments, but I could tell she was just seething with anger. I would be livid if someone did that to my daughter, but then again, I would have been so out of there awhile ago.

Yes, it was Chloe’s name they called 5th place. This was the week she forgot part of her solo, which is why I think she came in 5th. Love Chloe!!

I do like Victor and Angel much better than Abby, but still hard for me to get into this show because I really can not stand these moms (except Ani) and most of the kids I don’t really like either. Also, not a fan of their choreography. I like to see some jumps and turns once in awhile and not just a bunch of tilts (even though they do them very well). Seems like a lot of posing and showing how flexible they are. Some of that would be fine, but please just throw in some other stuff once in awhile.

I’m looking forward to dance moms pittsburgh!! :)

OMG I couldn’t WAIT to get on here and mention the Dance Moms Pittsburgh promo! I am dying to see it! I’m wondering if some of the girls actually do leave and no more seasons. I would be so sad. I wish VicTang were teaching the Pittsburgh girls. I just can’t like any of the moms or the kids in Miami. I don’t really know why, they just don’t click with me. Anyway, as you are all well aware, I’m the biggest nebshit on this site, and Abby’s house is still in foreclosure. She just had a default judgment entered against her for $144,717.43, and it doesn’t look like she’s trying to save it. You can go to http://dcr.alleghenycounty.us, and click on case search. Her case # is MG10-002475. It’s still in her mother’s name, Maryen Miller. I don’t know how she can let this happen to her mom’s home. There is plenty of help out there. I know because I was in foreclosure. By the way, you can get Abby’s address there, and then go the the Allegheny County Real Estate Assessment page and get a look at her home. It’ nice…to nice for that fat bitch.

Platinum Awards are essentially the highest awards a studio can earn. There’s things like first, second, third, etc. place and there’s things like High Gold and High Silver.

Think of it sort of like the Olympics. Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. They’re not like Overall (insert category here), but they’re considered the highest praise a group or soloist can get. My dance studio gets them all the time (not bragging, haha).

I also wondered if that was Chloe Lukiask when they announced Chloe.

I liked all the numbers this week. I love Kimmi so much I want so clone her and raise her clone as my own. She is just too too too damn cute. I laughed every time I heard her say that line about one time she was bad by staying up past bedtime to do homework! Also love her mom.

I like when Angel has the funny little talks with the kids. They always are pretty funny. I also always die when he disses the moms like when he said “If I was Jessi I would be crying to because Susan was my mother.” LOL!

Isn’t the fire thing next episode?

Did I somehow miss that while watching the episode?

Bitchette is a shit stirrer and I don’t like her at all. Bob just talks too damn much.

I don’t really know about that particular competition but sometimes they award each dance a rating like silver, gold or platinum by your score. So even if you get 2nd place in your category you still might get a platinum score meaning you still scored very high. Or it could be a special award. I remember competitions would give out awards like Judge’s pick or best costume or most entertaining or best choreography and it could be a special award like that. The judges just pick numbers that particularly stood out to them and loved them

Per the energy dance website, performances are given platinum, high gold, gold, high silver, silver, or bronze awards depending on the score. You can receive a platinum award and not have placed first if your score is 281+. Also, it is interesting to note that cathy’s oft-shown method of bringing down her group’s average age by using vivi as an occasional prop does not fly at this competition– any group member younger than the average age must perform a meaningful and significant portion of the choreography.

Thanks for the info. I remember other competitions having that rule about younger dancers must actually dance and be on stage most of the number.

I was just going to say that. Each score is from 1-300 (3 judges/100 points per judge). Platinum is the highest of the scores. It’s like getting an A on a test. And just like school, there can be several A’s but only the A+’s with get placed overall. The Special Award is like April says. It’s an award each judge gives out to a dance that stood out to them for whatever reason. I’ve seen it for all different things. One of our tap numbers got it for being so funny. It’s whatever strikes them for whatever reason.

Oh I saw the Dance Moms clip. Christi said on Twitter that she was surprised to see it since that just happened like a week ago. She didn’t want to relive it lol.

I have to say that I understand everyone preferring Pittsburgh better, but I had to stop watching it for a while because Abby was just insufferable. She is a mean, nasty, bitter woman who takes out her bitterness on anyone around her. The way she treats those kids I cannot tolerate. I think it stems from a place of sheer jealousy since it was something she could never do. I believe that if Melissa stopped kissing her ass and funding her studio, Maddie would also get Abby’s wrath. She is a dance teacher, she should be proud of all her students, not just one. That is no way to have a successful studio. No wonder she has financial problems. I don’t care if she were Alvin Alley himself, no amount of possible future success for my child is worth her peace of mind. I bet people are leaving in droves….

    My two cents…

Thanks for the info.. Does it show anywhere if Greg Gosini ever got that divorce? I’ve been wondering about that since Melissa had such a hissy-fit on that episode (even though she brought it up before). Just curious if she was still engaged to a married man or what the deal was..?

I believe at the Energy competition Maddie placed first and won an extra award for her jumps.

When they preface the Pittsburgh preview with “the one you’ve been waiting for” and then showed poor little Paige.. who has been waiting to see a little girl cry? No one I hope. Abby Lee was mean to Paige. I don’t think anyone wants to see that. They need to think twice about using that for a promo.

    Back to Miami….

Who was the little girl who was crying her eyes out over the fire?

Why doesn’t Sammy have to wear a unicorn bun like everyone else? I noticed that when she was rehearsing with Hannah.

Why does anyone ever listen to Bitchette? She is awful. Thank you, Lucas, for throwing her bras away.

Kimmy was just so cute. Jessi did a nice job. Good for them. But, Victor honey, I noticed some of the same stuff in these solos. For once I liked the group routine. The duet turned out good. Bob needs to calm down. So does Abby. Hannah and Sammy are capable of learning new things.

The trust fall… I don’t know that I could make myself do that. But, I think Hannah’s worries were different than people kept thinking.

I’m still not into the dance style at this studio, but I thought Jessi’s solo was really good. And WTF is up with their group number costumes? They always look like little dominatrix wear.

How cute was Kimmy trying to be bad? I mean, come on people, SHE THREW A PISTACHIO!

What a conniving, piece of shit Lucas’ mom is. Can’t say I was surprised when her tax evasion was brought up.

I hate myself for posting on this (NOT because your recaps aren’t stellar SnoopK8!!!), but I have really felt that the dancing I’ve seen on DM Miami is actually better than original DM. Hate on me all you want, but I’ve enjoyed all of the dances and choreography way more than I did in Pittsburgh!

A girl who dances on the comp team at stars said Hannah is on weight probation- if a company member is overweight and doesn’t lose weight they will be kicked off the team. I dont like Victor/Angel so much now… way to encourage eating disorders

How long is that divorce going to drag out. It’s been two seasons already.

I just can’t get into Miami. I wish I could. Pittsburg can’t come back soon enough.

I hear ya. I can’t get into it much either. I really do like Victor and Angel, but as I’ve said before, I can’t stand these moms. I mean, I literally feel physically nauseous when I see some of them, and that’s pretty bad. I think Bridget is probably the worst, but don’t like any of them- except Ani. Not really liking the kids much either- Kimmy’s cute and sweet, Jessi is ok, Hannah seems sweet, but just not really into it. Don’t like the choreography at all, but I’ve said all this before, so now I’m just talking (or typing). I wish we could have the Pittsburgh moms and kids and just get rid of that Abby! Making Paige cry like that.. Poor kid!

Oh yeah, and the divorce.. What is up with that? I’m thinking this show came out and whoever is Greg’s wife saw Melissa flaunting Greg’s money, blah, blah, blah, and is probably making things more difficult for him and that’s probably why it hasn’t finalized yet and why Melissa had a hissy-fit about people bringing it up on the show.. That’s my guess.

I agree that the Pittsburgh show is the best because of the kids and moms… Jabby eh not so much. I mean, who wouldnt watch a show where a mom would threaten a lawsuit for talking about your upcoming soon-to-be-legal marriage? Afraid of losing too much in the alimony settlement eh Greg? Anyway, I too found it interesting that the Miami and Pittsburgh teams compete against each other. How cool would a fusion of the two shows be? Then we get more of a competitive feel between schools (cause Crazy Cathy’s apples suck compared to both Stars and Jabby-Lee Dance Company). Heres the link for the energy results where Maddie placed 1st (of course) and (the only dancer I can tolerate from Miami) Kimmy beat out (my favorite) Chloe. http://www.energyndc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Competition-Results-for-Highland1.pdf

After watching with a few friends we *think* we figured out why Miami feels so..off compared to the Abby Lee girls. At Abby Lee it feels like a family. They’ve been together for years. When they can’t stand each other its with the the knowledge that they’re stuck together anyway. And I get the feeling that the little girls ask to spend the night at each others houses and are friends. Even the moms seem to like each other even if sometimes they hate each other.. I get the feeling that if the show hadn’t come along that those women would still be sitting there being frenemies. Aside from Jill (who as a studio hopper who knows might have eventually walked through the door) and the candy apples nonsense.

Also and this is just my own personal thing..the piles of make up on the Miami girls looks like they went to the same beautician school as Cathy of candy apples, she took the clown course and the Miami moms took the soap opera harlot course. The make up makes girls a year older than Chloe, Maddie, Paige and Nia look decades older. They should keep the make up sweet looking not..whatever that is.

http://westmorelandweb400.us, and go to public access, eservices. There are prompts. Greg’s case # is 11 DO 00209. Melissa’s was 10 DO 02429. You can’t see the documents on this website without a password. Greg’s divorce is just kind of hanging around. A hearing has been postponed a couple of times, and it’s the hearing where Susan got pissed because he blew cash out of a joint account for a car for Melissa. The Motion/Petition requests that neither of them (Greg or Susan) spend more than $2000 out of any joints accounts and also not to change beneficiaries on any insurance policies. A judge hasn’t heard that yet. I’m betting there is a lot of behind the scenes talking between each of their attorneys.

That was definitely Chloe Lukasiak getting 5th place. The dance was called “Water Colors Fade” in the Dance Moms episode but you can see it on the scoresheet. It’s when she forgot part of the dance. When they are all standing there receiving awards you can clearly see them putting a crown on Maddie’s head before they announce Jessi’s division. The producers basically contradict themselves in this instant because on the dance moms episode Abby said a few times that Chloe didn’t place, yet on the spin off show they announce her as 5th… hmmm… Unless there were only 5 people in the division I call bs on Abby

The stars costumes kill me– they’re all pretty… Um… Dominatrix-esque and even in her solo, hannah’s just wasn’t… Flattering. Abby had some doozies, but I haven’t really liked any of the dmm costumes yet. Kimmy is adorable– I seriously want to pat her on the head. I like Hannah. I think the kid has heart, and back when I taught dance, I wished I had more kids like that. I also think that she doesn’t get enough credit. The unfortunate fact is that her build makes any technical errors more obvious. Chloe and Paige, too, though for the opposite reason– they are so slender and leggy that if their lines are the slightest bit off, it shows more than it does on Maddie, who is more compact. I just can’t bring myself to like any of the Miami moms (save kimmy’s, most of the time).

I would like to see Angel and Victor go off on Cathy….I can’t tolerate one minute of that woman and she makes me actually like Abby when ever she is on screen. Angel and Victor could wipe the floor with her.

I like both the shows for different reasons….I like the teaching better on Miami….but the moms better on Pittsburgh…

I think the latin culture is in alot of the dances in Miami and not so much in Abby Lee’s stuff which is why they seem so diff..

Either way I’m addicted to both shows…and am also ashamed to admit waiting patiently for Mob Wives Chicago!

I don’t honestly understand why they put girls in all the two piece costumes that show the tummy. Especially when the girls are slightly chunky. I did not pick out the costume, but one dance junior team I helped coach had a two piece midriff baring costume. We had some chunky dancers and one judge actually counted off for it and told us on the tape that when you have heavier dancers you need to go with more slimming and non midriff baring costumes. I actually agreed with him.

How do they not get that the whole group looks better when you pick costumes that are appropriate for everyone? And for her SOLO?! Why on earth would you put her in a 2-piece costume? She danced so well that day, but the costume was very distracting, and just not flattering.
