This week’s Dexter is all about redemption and rituals, and I’m not just talking about the ones that involve scalpels to the cheek.
Quinn picks up where he left off with his interrupted proposal, only to have his attempt chopped off at the knee by a skittish Deb, whose stress is only compounded when Matthews informs her that she, not Batista, is being promoted to lieutenant. This causes all sorts of kerfluffle with LaGuerta and everyone else involved, and of course stirs the murky waters of Deb’s numerous daddy issues.
Meanwhile, Dexter is equal parts concerned with Harrison’s growing awareness and his own quest for this episode’s victim. He thinks he’s found one in Brother Sam, a self-proclaimed shepherd who has given his life over to rehabilitating criminals as penance for his own life of crime. He’d been one of Dexter’s targets, actually, but had been arrested before anything came of it, leaving the Dark Passenger unsatisfied.
While all this is going on, Colin Hanks (henceforth known as Travis) is hauling around mannequin parts, visiting his sister, and being lambasted by Edward James Olmos (henceforth known as EJO, until someone calls him something else) for not relinquishing all earthly attachments in favor of their crazy little two member cult. Things get serious, too, when Travis abducts a jogger. Miami is not the place to be if you’re looking for wholesome activities, it seems. Recap up later this week!
