MiniCap: Drag Race

Hello! Hello! Hello! And welcome to RuPaul’s Drag Race: Reunited, where, hopefully, we’ll finally find out who won, who didn’t and what the hell Willam did.  But first…a production number to If I Dream because RuPaul has become the king of both sincerity and parodying the false sincerity of Hollywood.  Bow to Ru’s ability to make us care even while we’re laughing at all the ploys and manipulations used to make us care.

Logo really upped the budget this year and it’s set at the El Portal theater and is super glamorous with as many former contestants as they could corral, including Pork Chop, who I remember, I promise. Then it’s time to interview each of the past contestants in the order they left except for Kenya because her finishing position was artificially inflated and Willam, of course, because bitch needed her own segment to regale us with her awesomeness, and what the hell she did to get the boot (SPOILER…booty calls from Mr. Willam), one last time.  And Latrice because she came in fourth, won Miss Congeniality, and will forever be known as the one who should have made it.

Those segments are entertaining because Ru knows how to put on a show.  But now it’s time to talk to the top 3…and that was kind of glorious.  Chad and Sharon get their say and look beautiful doing it, with Chad being polished and articulate while Sharon is all emotion, but then Ru gets to Phi Phi.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  Man, editing may have left her worst on the cutting room floor.  Luckily, there’s a crass blonde in Louboutin’s and a unicorn dress to bluntly call her on her shit, paving the way for the others to speak honestly about what a cooze Phi Phi was during filming.  And coin a new word that Ru’s going to mop for himself.  Bless you, Willam Belli, for being you.

Then a quick segment where find out what winning would mean to each of the top three before we meet each queen’s family and find out that Chad’s boyfriend is sweet, Sharon’s mom is really pretty and pretty awesome, and Phi Phi’s mother proves a mother’s love really is unconditional because she’s Phi Phi’s mother and still loves her son.

With all the preliminaries out of the way, Ru is FINALLY ready to crown the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race.  And the winner is…

I wasn’t gonna still leave you hanging.

Full recap in a few days. Until then, you can catch up on the last recap here.  Or you can watch Willam’s new and totally and completely NSFW video. And don’t be rounding up.

Couldn’t WAIT for the mini so I could comment! It’s all over the place (and in an interview I read from Sharon) that Willam’s reason he left was a lie. I also read that he is in talks for his own show wherein he will tell the “truth.” The world may never know. What I know is that I will love him long time for calling PeePee out on her bullshit on taped-live TV!

OF COURSE I could not have been happier with the result, but I was really disappointed in the way they did it. Taping three endings made Sharon seem (and feel according to the interview) detached because she did not know if she was really the winner. That is why she just said “Happy Halloween.” We all know from watching her that Sharon probably lost it totally when she realized she actually won. Ru should have done the show live for reals or at least had the three finalists watching live with cameras on them as the winner was announced so we could get an authentic reaction. The viewer deserve that much.

That was the best reunion/finale in history. Ru can put on a show like no one else. For the first time on any show ever, someone got called out on their nasty attitude and made up bullshit in front of an audience of viewers and no one, but no one came to their defense. We finally got to watch real karma in action. It was glorious.

Willam was awesome and proved to everyone that PeePee is lucky she got the boot, because we definitely would have had an entire top three that was worthy of being there. If Willam’s reason for being kicked off was legit, then that’s lame. Against the rules, maybe, but still lame.

Can’t wait for the full recap!!

Thought the show was wonderful!!!! Glad I knew ’cause it was all over Twitter this morning when I checked in.

Latrice had me in tears three times. She does that.

Have to hand it to P2. Takes balls to face all those heartfelt comments. And her mom is adorable! And funny.

Willam was so funny– especially when she made a crack about getting another chance next time. Wish she would.

Share, S-Natch!!!! Where can we find the article? You know I’ll be googling all afternoon.

Agree about the authentic reactions. It would have made the finish so much more, er, finished.

A guy in front of me at the Chicago Absolut RPDR party last night whirled around and said “I don’t believe that story for a damn minute!” It said on Entertainment Weekly’s website that he was actually the one who brought it up to the producers about the conjugal visits. There’s probably more to it, but whatever. He’s a genius at PR, so good for him. Tom and Lorenzo theorized that he was a ringer who knew he wasn’t going to win, so a memorable exit was put in his contract.

I would just like to say, now and forever that I LOVE WILLAM. Give that bitch her own show(So I can laugh and watch PhiPhi’s head explode)! And have Sharon guest star on it. I loved to read that they became close.

Sharon and Chad both looked fantastic and were absolutely poised and civil with their comments. I am so, so happy Sharon won and only wish she and Chad could have split!

I also love that finally PhiPhi got called out on her shit. Because it was ridiculous. I don’t think PhiPhi will go much further. She has burned bridges and hurt so many of her fellow queens. For someone who auditioned about wanting to build up the bonds of drag sisterhood she sure spent all her time trying to destroy them.

Okay, Okay, Okay. Now, I love, LOVE Latrice and that she wont Miss C (even if i voted for Chad) but I don’t get the uproar that she should have won the whole thing. Been in the top three? Yes! But win the whole thing? Her make up skills and dresses were never on the level of Chad or Sharon. I love her forever though and as soon as she’s in a town near me I will go and see her.

Oh god, the wig, the wig! The only time it gets better is the clip of him saying he never wears a blonde wig and then Willaim counts off all the times she had!

On top of bad wigs, I can’t stand the lip liner thing she does and it was SUPER bad last night.

And hunty, those proportions, what? You’re a cute guy and have a good body out of drag and yet you ALWAYS look like a bedazzled, old sausage.

Well, I think the NYC official party probably kicked our ass, since that’s where this season’s contestants watched it, but we still had fun! Absolut bought us all pizza, shots, and ice cream sundaes just for coming, which was darling of them.

As usual, everyone booed when PhiPhi came on camera (“Will the winner be Phi Phi?” Audience: “NOOOOOOO! BOOOO!” Random audience member: “Don’t boo her! That’s applause from ghosts!”) and screamed their heads off for Sharon and Latrice. Chad got a few cheers, too. I laughed so hard after Willam’s reason for why he was sent home and a ton of people went “Bullsh*t! Don’t believe it for a second!” Of course, the room went WILD when Sharon won. I haven’t heard screams like that since…well, since she performed there on Saturday. :D

Deets from the ONE bartender who was supporting Phi Phi (but was also wearing a Chad button) and is also a former RPDR contestant: “Of course I’m going to be the one girl to support my girl Phi Phi. I’ve known her for years, and we’re….well, not so much friends, but we’ve been co-workers for a long time, and she DOES work here, so that’s all I’ll say about that. When I worked for Chad, she was just such a professional, it was amazing. Sharon, on the other hand…is a revelation. She is so inspiring to me. I’ll root for my girl, but everyone knows Sharon deserves it.”

    And there you have it.

Gah! And Phi Phi looked SO out of place. Sharon showed up in her own type of elegance, Chad was perfect and polished (as we’ve come to expect), and Phi Phi showed up in a 6-year-old’s “princess” bathing suit.

She truly was the Glasscock of this season.

Oh, and one more thing. At Sharon’s show on Saturday, she spoke out and said while she appreciated all the support, she was getting concerned about all the Phi Phi hate, especially as a victim of bullying herself. So she requested that whenever you want to write hate mail to Phi Phi, decide you want to write a love letter to Sharon instead. Ahh! I love Miss Needles!

So, WOOOOT Sharon! I feel very suspicious about the Willam thing because of Sharon’s interview with EW. Why in the world would they just not say? I wonder if she got a better opportunity and just kind of left. I have to say, I love Chad, but I can’t get over the fact that she often looks dated. Not in like, face, but like hair and clothes and all that. Also, seriously, why was Phi Phi sitting like that? It’s not even a knock really, I just – the other two look so poised and feminine. Phi Phi is supposed to be the pageant girl, I just don’t get it. Also, Rupaulogize made me laugh so hard.

Did I miss the reason Willam threw up? I thought that was a question that would be answered. I am so happy Sharon won I love Chad but as others have said she sometimes looks dated… I wouldn’t have been upset if she won over PeePee. Sharon is the future of drag and Chad is the past(wonderful magnificently the past), Sharon covered all her bases during the season(I still can’t say anything snarky against the lovely Chad). Who loves Latrice???? Why that would be EVERYONE:). I love her so much, while I do wish she would have been in the final 3…she needed to up her makeup game(Ursula was the truth though).

I honestly believe the rumors that Absoult wanted PeePee to win and Ru had America vote. I can understand how Sharon would scare the representative considering SHE IS THE FUTURE OF DRAG. Drag has evolved since the 80′s(when I started paying attention), It’s not all Cher, Liza and Broadway impersonations… I think he is stuck there.

It wasn’t said on the show, but Willam said in an interview that because he knew he was going home, he gorged on a bunch of food and then decided to wear that tiny little corset. Once he squeezed is intestines everything came out. I’m not sure if thats the whole truth though, considering she made it through everything else without puking.

Okay, I just found major hole in Willam’s story. He claimed they weren’t allowed to tell anyone where they were going, so he tried to sneak and leave his house with lots of drag, without telling his husband. Hmmm… If it’s so top secret that RDR is filming, then how come there are all those video recording from family members, like Dida’s mom and Jiggly’s brother?? Not to mention, the skype chats like Chad had with his boyfriend.

Well, I was hoping for a Chad win up until the end. But, I am happy with Sharon winning. I kind of felt like it would be Sharon. The delicious thing about that is I’d bet PP thought Sharon didn’t have a chance. Well, up until he saw how many people on the interwebs were for Sharon. I haven’t found many people who don’t like Sharon. And what’s not to like? Sharon is funny, clever, and nice.

What PP said about Sharon ‘talking down’ to him was such b.s. PP is the bar queen of excuses. He just knew Sharon would feel bad if someone thought he was patronizing them, so he used that.

And I agree with the bedazzled sausage comment. They’re called corsets, PP.

I think Willam threw up because PP yelled at him for a solid hour. Even though Willam very convincingly played it cool, the body produces adrenaline in those situations. So, PP literally made him sick although Willam will never say that and I don’t blame him. But, PP should be ashamed of himself for doing that to someone. Of course, the food and the vodka, and the corset compounded the situation, but being screamed at pushed things over the edge.

In the interview linked above, Sharon says it’s a little weird that being disqualified made Willam more famous than some others who followed the rules. Of course, some of that is charisma. And Willam does have movies (more than one, despite what PP claims) and TV. But mostly it’s because we have no idea what he did or how it may have affected other people. We can figure out it’s nothing too horrifying or Ru wouldn’t have a segment about it or Reunited. So, that leaves stuff that viewers tend not to know about… probably something that happened back at the hotel.

I was glad Willam called PP out. I understand where Sharon is coming from worrying about PP, but the only way he will learn is if people correct him. (I don’t mean sending him hateful letters or cluttering up his pages with mean messages, I agree with Sharon there.) PP has justified everything he did and feels just fine about it all.

Poor Jiggly was soooo upset! What PP did to him was so mean and totally unnecessary because Jiggly was on borrowed time anyway. I think Ru kept him around for a while because he was funny and his drag character was just really fun. But, Jiggly was never going to make it to the top group. For one thing, his personal issues were dragging him down. And PP knew all of that (more than we know) and was just evil to Jiggly. Oh, and then he goes and stays in Jiggly’s “crib” (probably saving money on a hotel).

So, after that, he tosses over his shoulder the most trite non-apology. He may as well have just thrown in the words “I guess I better say something since we’re on TV and he’s bawling again.” He really hurt Jiggly who seems pretty harmless and he didn’t care at all. And he knew Jiggly didn’t have one clue until he saw in on TV! My fiance cheered me up by saying he thought Jiggly probably got a lot of fans from the show.

Well, anyway, good for Sharon. It was a great show and it was great to see everyone… even PP in his bedazzled onesie. I hope Ru does bring Willam back. Also, I would love to see Chad on Drag U. Oh yes, and good for Latrice. I hope he can buy something fabulous with his $10k.

Not too many spouses would be cool with, “oh, I will be gone for a month to the isle of no phone and I’m leaving now with my six suitcases of women’s clothes… toodles!” Plus, what if something comes up at home? My best guess is that because they were crowning all three they used a little tiara instead. First thing I said about Jiggly was she lost weight. I wish she didn’t have that unfortunate shape, little arms and legs and a HUGE belly.

He could have segments where people get the gift of shoes, Someone Else’s Credit Card. He could have people send in a photo of their shoes to see if they needed a shoe makeover. There could be a what do these shoes say about you segment. And don’t forget boots, belts and purses.

I was at the taping and it was pretty funny when phi phi “won”. She acted like a little brat and said that fake winning was the closest she’d ever get, walked down the runway and the crown actually fell off her head or she dropped it or something. It was clear she didn’t have a lot of support in the audience prior to that when she would hear everyone else getting loud cheers and she got just a few. She started slumping lower and lower on the stool.
