Welcome to week 5 of “Dancing With the Stars All-Stars.” This is the point where I usually say something about the couple who left last week. However, I’m not even going to bother to do that because the “star” to which I’m referring should not have been on the show in the first place. Instead, since it’s “Guilty Pleasures Night,” here is one of my guilty pleasures. I’ve seen this man in concert four times (the first time in 1994 when I was 10-years-old), I know every word to every song, I own every CD he’s ever recorded (even the Royal Philharmonic playing his greatest hits), and I can play many of his songs on the piano. I give you, Gasmii, my guilty pleasure:
One of his lesser known songs, but I thought “Bat Out of Hell” would have been too obvious.
Tonight, our couples brought some very interesting guilty pleasures. One rumba was so sexy that Carrie Ann actually fell out of her chair! Is anyone actually thinking it was danced by anyone else but Gilles? For most of the dances tonight, I found myself wondering if these songs were really the stars’ guilty pleasures or just something that would make choreographing any given dance easier. There will be more about that in the full recap. We also see the first of our freestyle team dance and watch the judges be very generous with a lot of the scoring.
Here’s a great picture of Gilles to hold you over until the full recap:
Check back soon for the full recap. In the mean time, check out last week’s recap if you haven’t already.

This is totally not about DWTS, but…..if SYTYCD survives its Worst Season Ever, is Hugh going to be sharing screen time with Gilles in the recaps? (Please say yes!)

I thought Gilles’ rumba was good, but sexay? No.
I wondered the same thing about the songs, too, Pope. I love Milli Vanilli. What if someone wanted to dance a quickstep to “Girl You Know it’s True”? Not gonna go well

@Lizbot: I’ve never watched “SYTYCD,” but let me do some Googling and I’ll get righ ton that.
@Enrique’s Mole: I was also disappointed with one “guilty pleasure” inparticular – Kirstie’s. Don’t get me wrong, that’s the best she’s danced this season. However, to me a “guilty pleasure” is something that would make people say, “Really? You like that?” Gilles liking Whitney Houston or Emmitt liking Barry Manilow definitely falls in that category. However, Kirstie choosing “Mrs. Robinson” seems to be a bit of a cop out. No one on the planet would be surprised to find out that she likes Simon and Garfunkel.

@considerthis – one of the posters here said Kelly’s boyfriend is always in the crowd. That’s awkward, huh?! Found this link:

@considerthis: According to a quick Google search, Kelly was in an 18-year relationship with her high school sweetheart, but they broke up in 2009. She called it a “toxic” relationship and then burned her prom dress on the premier of the show “Dirty Soap.”
Well, I’m guessing Kirstie’s guilty pleasure was meant to be younger men, not Simon and Garfunkel.

It seems to me that it might have been better to match up all winners or a program of just second place contenstants instead of mixing it up. BUT I think what I would really like to see is a season bringing back only people who were voted off on the first week. No ringers in that group. And maybe have them all stay for the entire season so that we can really see who improves. For the first time, Derek and Mark would have to dance with celebs who can’t dance. I would love to see what they do with that!

@ash310: I thought they said the theme was specifically “guilty pleasure songs.” Granted, I don’t know Kirstie personally. “Mrs. Robinson” may be a guilty pleasure of hers.
Also, I would totally watch the “first week losers” show! That would be pretty awesome.
Trisha Sutter
Kenny Mayne
Tucker Carlson
Paulina Poriskova
Josie Maran
Penn Jillette
Jeffrey Ross
Belinda Carlisle
Ashley Hamilton
Shannen Doherty
David Hasselhoff
Mike Catherwood
Ron Artest/Meta World Peace
Martina Navratilova
Pamela Anderson wouldn’t get a spot – she’s been back enough. For the most part, we could just call it “Dancing With Who?” I like your idea!
Can an iconic song be a “guilty pleasure?” That’s usually a silly, goofy song that you’re embarrassed to admit liking. Nothing embarrassing about “Mrs. Robinson.”
And way to go, Brooke, proving her utter uselessness, and sexism, when she kept needling Emmitt about “Copacabana.” I doubt an NFL Hall of Famer in his mid-40s is still askeered what the boys in the locker room will think because he likes a Barry Manilow song. Especially since it’s probably top 10 all time for guilty pleasure songs. I’d venture to bet that a large majority of people love at least one Manilow song. I know I do.

Do you think the stars really chose these songs as their “guilty pleasures”?

However, apparently Kelly is still dating Heath Freeman – who she’s been with for a few years. Also, Val has been seen out and about with some mystery woman. I have a feeling neither of those relationships will be lasting much longer.

It’s a toss up between Maks and Val in the comments, but I’m going with “Valentin” for this one!
