Minicap: Hell’s Kitchen

WHO’S YELLING NOW, DANA???

The Hell’s Kitchen finale is upon us at last, featuring the showdown between Jersey and Philly, man and woman, Justin and Christina. We all knew weeks ago it would come to this, and now it’s the moment of truth. Which one of them will get the Ramsay steakhouse job and the paycheck? Who made the better picks for their teammates? How much do we hate Royce? Spolier alert: we hate Royce very much.

Surprisingly enough—or rather, unsurprisingly, considering what we knew of these people and their egos already—the people who end up causing the most strife and drama during dinner service are some of the more seasoned contestants, ones who weren’t sent packing until very late in the game. The real stars of the kitchens, aside from the leaders, are the silent ones, and they aren’t who we’d expect them to be in more than once case. Spoiler alert, part 2: Royce is not included in this. He fucks up just as much as we knew he would.

Anyway, service completes, the winner is announced, and everyone goes batshit. I was happy with the choice, and honestly I’d have been happy either way, but I do admit I was leaning the way it went ever so slightly. Anyone else? Without getting all loose-lipped and spoiling it, do you think it was a fair choice? Catch up with me later this week for the full finale recap, and if you missed it, check out the penultimate episode from last week here. Thanks for reading!

BlueCanary is as unorthodox a blend of optimistic and bitter, laid-back and anxious, motivated and straight up lazy tas one is likely to meet outside an unspecified institution. She spent the past decade holding a variety of job titles, including reporter, tech writer, production manager, and administrative assistant (the go-to job in this economy for folks who just HAD to get that English degree). She is currently living under the tiny yet powerful thumb of an awesome, pint-sized little dude, who wets himself and can't form full sentences (read: stay at home mom). Another tyrannical little thumb is gestating in her womb. She is a regular on The Neutral Corner podcast and blogs at www.mamamuzzle.com.

Blue's as-yet-unpublished YA novel, The Nature of Echoes, is currently a Quarterfinalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. I agree, leaned towards the winner but wouldn’t have knocked my head against the wall either way. Its a nice satisfying feeling as opposed to some reality show outcomes that make e question karma.

Either was would have been fine. But, the outcome was nice.
Who would have thought that some of the more ferral cats of the season would end up as docile as a tabby cat by the fire?

I found myself cheering them both on during service, so I was happy and sad with the results. Mostly because you saw both reactions quite clearly and they were both so sincere in their joy and disappointment.

Plus, I think I was still smurfy from watching Andy Murray finally win a Slam and Ivan Lendl managing to grin and not look like he was baring his teeth.

I CANT BELEIVE they allowed Clemenza to come back and compete, then he FREAKING WON?!!?!

oops, was that a spoiler? :P

JK, I was very happy with the winner, I just hope “the winner” doesn’t end up unemployed like most of Ramsay’s former winners.
