Minicap: Masterchef

02.15 - 12 - judgement day

Last night on MasterChef was another of the team challenges. Of course. Gotta be the last, there are only 6 left. So, 2 3-man teams take over the Patina restaurant in LA. The minichefs are terrified that they’re going to ruin the reputation of this restaurant. I’m feeling pretty certain that they won’t be inviting first-timers in to the restaurant on this particular night, but…our minis don’t seem to grasp that. Anyways, the two teams are responsible for running the kitchen. They’ve gotta match two appetizers and two entrees from the restaurant, and serve some of the restaurant’s regulars, who will give feedback to Bastage, Gordie, and Teddy. One team starts off rocking the challenge, and then falls back to earth right as the other team hits it’s stride. The late surgers get the W, and the losers have what I’d say is probably the most daunting pressure test to date.

It may not be the hardest cooking, but the minis are handed a giant salmon that they have to scale, fillet, portion, and cook. Good lord. Gordie demonstrates it. He makes it look so easy. I mean, thanks to the editing, he does it all in like a minute!!! But seriously, even without the editing, he plows through it. So, the three unlucky minis get 45 to perform all this. Yeesh. Though now I really do want to try this. For like 5 seconds, and then hand the knife off to someone who knows wtf they’re doing.

Well, I won’t tell you who lost, but I will say I was a touch sad, because it was one of the couple I was still semi fond of.

I hope Christian chokes on his own saliva as he is saying once again that his $hit smells like roses. Always someone else’s fault with that loser.

Ben Star’s blog says Gordon took two minutes to filet the salmon and have perfect boneless fillets.
