Karen in Renee's Face 4-18-11

Bitch! Don’t you know I will cut you!

So, Mob Wives… Yeah, I was really looking forward to the premiere of this show. I had my jokes all ready about Tommy “Two Toes” paying me a visit for talking shit about these bitches. Only to find the first episode to be much ado about well…not much.

The show introduces us to 4 women who have either fathers or husbands doing time for mob related activities and how they are coping with raising families and being loyal in the face of that.

Karen is coming back to Staten Island after a 10 year exile. Her dad, Sammy “the Bull” is pretty much responsible for bringing down John Gotti. So, she wants to be a fame whore – err, write a book about the experience but is at least smart enough to leave her daughter with family in Arizona while she chases fame – I mean –  traces her history in Staten Island.

Of course there are going to be some problems with that. Her former circle of friends; Renee, Drita and Carla, are all either related to someone or know someone who was taken down by Karen’s dad. So, Renee is all about not forgiving her and cutting her off. Drita and Carla are more forgiving. They don’t want anyone to judge their kids based on what their husbands have done, so they don’t see any reason to judge Karen for her father’s disloyalty.

That’s the whole premise of the first episode. As for the women, Karen is pretending to be an innocent victim of her dad’s behavior, when in fact she is stealth bitch talking shit behind people’s back – so she is perfect for reality tv.

Renee, well, I’m pretty sure she’s a man with a bad wig. She talks a big game but doesn’t seem to have anything to really back it up.

Haven’t really gotten a read on Carla yet, at least she is smart enough to be divorcing her husband. Then, there is Drita.

I am loving me some Drita. I don’t know if it’s the Albanian connection or what, but she reminds me of Flo from Bad Girls Club, plus bitch is a brawler. I expect to see her flinging some hos across the room in at least one episode this season.

If there were ever a situation where in which I had to choose between cheese and chocolate, cheese would win hands down. I spend my days writing blog posts for the multi-housing industry and my nights harshly judging people who appear on reality shows. If there is the odd weekend in which I am not working, or feeling smugly satisfied about my lack of my own reality show, I will build a blog for my friends. Then, I will spend the rest of my weekend conning other friends, family members, and general acquaintances to donate their talents to help out. I am shameless in my love of free stuff, blue humor, and great or even terrible fiction. I tell my friends that I watch reality shows to feel better about myself. In actuality, I watch them because I am vastly entertained by the things people will do to be famous. When Flipit asked me to join the TVGasm family, I was honored. When he said that I would be paid in Cheetos and M&M's, I was totally in.

    This show is amazing! I hope you’re not over it already, PlathAddict, it’s just getting started. I do think there are two types of reality shows..the drama-filled ones and the ‘character studies’, where we just place people inside of a fishbowl and point out their eccentricities. This show has both!! Even without any ‘action’, there is so much fodder on the makeup, furs(!), and accents alone. And let’s not forget the quotes.

    “I’d date, but all the good men are in jail!” -Renee
    “After all this time, Renee is still a mob groupie.” – Karen

    “Of course I remember that picture. I used to look at in room when I was riding your husband.” -Karen

    Drita sounds almost exactly like Flo. It’s the whiskey-and-Camel-Reds type of rasp that makes me all warm and gooey inside.

    @NWMTV: Renee looks like a drag queen and Caroline shaves her face. Methinks the mob likes their ladies to be packing.

    @NotWithoutMyTV: If they show her shaving we will definitely have our answer. Although she may be using electrolysis for that beard of hers.

    @sarcasatire: I’m not over it by a long shot. I just kept hoping we would see some serious ho flinging or at least a good hair pull in the first episode. I know, they have to build up to the physical stuff. But a girl can dream. I do agree that this show combines the best of reality worlds and really can’t wait to see what these bitches pull out! I am loving it way too much and it’s only the first episode.

    “Are you going to take out the garbage? I need ta KNOW!”
    “Do you want a salad with dinner? I need ta KNOW!”
    “Wanna watch a Matt Damon movie? I need ta KNOW!”

    We laugh and laugh…

    @Plath, you needn’t wait long..from the previews, it looks the next episode picks up where the last one left off, with Renee, drunk off Patron, and livid at Karen’s brazeness. Renee tries to get in Drita’s face and Drita wraps her slender fingers right around Renee’s neck! OMG, I can’t wait!

    @Sheesh..you and TB are gonna have a lot of quotable lines from this show, lol.

    @NWMTV: I know how much you love women with horse faces and this show has plenty. I almost wish Staten Island had a glue factory.

    I am so excited about this show. Love Drita for some reason and Karen does have some balls coming back. I guess I find it somewhat dangerous that she would come back. Her father pissed off a lot of people but I do’nt think you can blame her for that (provided she doesn’t think her father is some kind of hero–he’s a ruthless murderer).

    Super stoked!! Please don’t get sick of it..if you do, I’ll gladly recap!

    OMGosh Drita sounds JUST LIKE BGC FLO! I had the show playing in the background and her voice made me look up from my computer thinking Flo had scored another reality show lol…2 episodes & bitches are choking each other? I think I’ve found my new favorite show!!

    @sheesh, just said to my husband while making the grocery list, “Do I need to buy more toilet paper? I need to KNOW!” he’s still laughing.

    @jersey404, I’m starting to think that Karen is pretty much a shit-stirrer, but we have to see how it all plays out. No worries about getting sick of it though. The first episode was a disappointment because of all of the previews. But, now that I’ve seen these bitches, I think the sparks are about to fly for real.

    @fancyface, Flo was the person I kept thinking about each time I watched the episode. I know she was as much of a skank as the rest, but I still LOVES me some Flo.

    @Derek, She looks more like Jaqueline from the Jersey Housewives to me than she does like Amber, but it might be the hair. Karen doesn’t have the weird 80′s crimping thing going on.

    Great mini recap, That nice Karen was arrested along with her whole family in Arizona when they were all deakling X. her father plad so Karen and her Mom would get light sentences.,The brother and father went to prison. They were all involved in some kiddie gang that were all so very racist, I think Karen’s baby daddy was involved and went to the joint,I hope that is in her book.
    The one son reminded me of the poor kid in Ann Nicole show up he does better. Whole show POS . I will not watch but will enjoy your recaps.

    I hadn’t even heard of the show until y’all started talking about it. So I watched it tonight ..and wow! thanks! It was fun. These chicks don’t play around! There wasn’t any “joe spank me” shit..or “ain’t I nice”? .. they don’t want to be nice! I’d like to see Teresa flip a table on one of these gals! lol

    Thanks for the gossip someguy. Nice link you provided too, Sarcas. Looking forward to it and plathaddict’s recaps. Looks like a fun ride :-)
