Minicap: Tabatha Takes Over

Howdy, Gasmii!  So glad to be back.   Thanks so much to AmyOops, thatdariamom and snowshoecat for your comments on the last recap.  It’s so neat that Tabs is as cool as we think she is!

I’ve been spending my time celebrating the Lunar New Year.  I’m not Asian-American, I just like any holiday that features firecrackers and/or good food.  Next up, the Super Bowl, which in my opinion should be an official 3-day holiday.  How come presidents never mention things like this in the State of the Union?  Does President Obama not realize declaring a new holiday would totally put his ratings through the roof?  In an election year!  Hello!

Also I ordered this lovely item from my favorite online store, Collections Etc.  Because you can never have enough squirrel-themed decorative items, especially 9″ magnets with interchangeable wardrobe pieces.  Genius!

Speaking of genius, we were pretty much back to form this week on TTO.  Tabs went to Cherry Hill, NJ (used to go to a mall there!) to Beyond Hair Salon, owned by Aisha.  When I heard that Aisha’s mother had recently died of cancer, I thought this was going to be a rehash of Jungle Red.  This was much better though.  We did have the touchy-feely component, but in smaller doses.  And there was plenty of Tabs’ critiques of the staff.

Speaking of the staff, why is Valerie working there?  Just. Why?

And her personality matches.

I’m no stick myself.  But I dress really well, because I know the cardinal rule of dressing if you’re over a size 12:  Just because they make it in your size, does not mean you should buy it.  Also, what was up with refusing to wear closed-toe flats.  FLATS.  “They hurt”.  Probably because your feet have totally spread out from wearing flip-flops all the time, and you likely bought flats that were the wrong width, idiot.  Then turning a potential customer away (after ignoring them to talk on the phone).  Plus the personal cellphone calls and just general – well really, if you walked into a salon and saw her at the counter, would you want to stay?  I didn’t think so.

So I was very glad to see Tabs back to her ass-kicking (and I say that with huge amounts of love) form.  And I totally loved Monica.  She’s pretty, nice, a good stylist and a ton of fun.  As usual, Bravo has no stills that feature her (well, there is one but her head is turned away).  I’ll try to get a photo of her for the full recap.  I would absolutely go to Monica to get my hair done.  Plus I think she would be fun to hang out with.  She’s the anti-Val!
