Minicap: Tabatha Takes Over

Howdy, Gasmii!  So glad to be back on the Gasm – and thanks to all of you who followed us to Facebook and back. It was a hell of a week last week.  First the hacking, then Davy Jones died.  LOVED him!  Total first crush.  And then one of my cats, who has an autoimmune disorder that makes him reject his teeth, had to have all but 2 teeth and the little ones in the front removed.  Which, not surprisingly, left him in pain, confused and very very angry.  And it freaked out my other cat, who acted like he thought he was next.  All’s well now, though, he’s healing nicely, adjusting well and is back on crunchy food starting today.  (Oh yeah, cats can totally eat crunchy food without teeth!)  So overall it was an emotionally draining week.

I needed an uplifting ep, and this week’s ep did not disappoint.  It was a departure not only from last week with Robot Brian, but also from pretty much every other Takes Over ep ever.  I’ve never seen an owner so beloved as Dr. Flavio (and with good reason).  I’ve never seen Tabs bond with an owner as she did with Dr. Flavio.

Dr. Flavio founded his beauty school 53 years ago, and it was one of the top schools for quite a while.  Not so much lately though.  And it’s in big financial trouble.  Tiana, his daughter and school manager, seemed stuck in fear, afraid to take any action in case it didn’t work out.

There were other issues, of course, including the staff and Tiana being demoralized, the staff not being up-to-date on techniques, and just generally being set in their ways.  And I’m talking to you, Miss Kathy!

The one thing about the ep that was true to form was the “employee who hates Tabs from the get-go”, a/k/a Mr. P.  Also, he’s not that good a colorist.  Because red and black are totes not the same color.  Not. Even. Close.

Overall though, this ep was a really positive one.  I think a lot had to do with Dr. Flavio, who was completely supportive of Tabs and seemed to really like her, too.  I also really enjoyed the actual analysis of cuts and color – I find that stuff fascinating.  And man, do I want Tabs to cut my hair!
