Minicap: The Ev3nt

Last night on The Ev3nt…well…it ended. Boom, headshot, it’s finished. What really gets me, though, is the fact that it DIDN’T really end. At all. I’d really be happier if NBC would stop picking up these shows, airing an entire season, and canceling them with no resolution. This was 2010-2011’s Flash Forward. In both cases, we’re left wondering “Would it really have killed you guys to rewrite the last 20 minutes of the final episode and just give us some damn closure?!?” Apparently, though, the answer is yes. Oh, but we learned what The Ev3nt actually was. Well, kind of.

So, in this, our final episode…things kick off with more Shleila whining, but they kick that to the curb pretty fast. A few medical people show up and pick up Leila and get her to a facility where they hope to be able to save her.

Weasel and SImon are finally able to glean some valuable info from the laptop, and who the hell knows where Dr Lu went. Anyways, Weasel calls Mr P to let him know what they found out about the plaguebringer distribution plan. Mr P, who is still not acting P thanks to Darth P’s scheming, can’t do much to help them…well, except he gets Shatmypants to issue orders to send raid teams in to the food distribution and currency printing places and they take the Others down before the virus is distributed.

Mr P tells Darth P that he’s being played (again), and that he needs to shut down the Dulles terminal, but Darth P assumes it’s a power play to make him look like a fool. Mr P tells him that he’ll reveal that Darth P tried to kill him, and Darth P tells him no one would ever believe him, and that Mr P has no proof that Darth P did what he did.

Sean/Vicky/Simon/Weasel get to Dulles and track down the plague. Simon gets shot, but is wearing a vest, so it’s ok. They take out the Other that worked for the TSA, then Weasel shoots the shit out of Carlos in the back! Sophia takes her canister and runs into a room and locks the doors. Sean tries to talk her down.

Mr P gets the cabinet together to vote for his reinstatement. Darth P tries to convince everyone that Mr P is incapable of handling the pressure, but Mr P just comes right out and tells everyone that Darth P tried to kill him (twice) and that he’s working with Sophia. Well, that sends everyone into an uproar, but once Shatmypants yells at them to STFU, Mr P produces a recording device…on which Darth P was captured confessing to poisoning Mr P! Mr P regains the reigns and immediately issues Dulles to be shut down, and an assault and hazmat team to get there on the double.

Thankfully “on the double” is really fuckin’ fast, because Sean is still talking to Sophia when they arrive. Sean manages to convince her not to unlease the virus, because it will accomplish nothing but the murder of a few thousand people. Sophia comes out and surrenders.

Afterwards, Sean and Simon chat. Simon says he knows it isn’t over, and then teases us…he tells Sean that the Others were here first, but they left because they believe that if they stay on Earth too long, they will evolve, and that evolution would wipe out the human race. He tells him that’s called an “Ev3nt.” OH!

Sean gets to the hospital where Leila is, and they have another Shleila moment. He keeps telling her she’ll be alright, and she then tells him she’s pregnant! Yeah, kinda saw that coming. We still don’t know if she’s gonna pull through from the flu, though…

Sophia is paraded into the White House, and she tells Mr P that this is far from over…and that the virus was really just an attempt to be merciful, because now nothing can protect us from The Ev3nt! And then….just then…the portal array hits it’s stride, and the entire world starts whirring, and then there’s like 25 minutes of build up, with every character that isn’t dead running outside to look at the bright as fuck blue ball in the sky….and then!!!! The Other’s planet shows up!!! HOLY FUCK!
