It’s also almost Valentine’s Day and Maggie has recommitted to making it work with Don by being the one bullying Jim into taking Lisa out on Valentine’s Day. Leaving nothing to chance, Maggie buys her several gifts, including lingerie so she can slut-shame Lisa in absentia, and gives him copy to write in the card. She’s let’s Jim know, in earshot of the entire newsroom, that she’s doing this so Lisa won’t barge in on her private night with Don. She’s awful. But not to be outdone, Jim peppers her with questions even a twelve-year-old yurt dweller would know are stupid.
Maggie also found her stash of competency pills when she put her Xanax in a safe place and is suddenly running around the newsroom at a mile a minute making calls and editing packages to run on the Wisconsin protest story. But to prove that she’s loveable, DAMMIT, she’s still klutzy because that’s adorable.
Then, as everyone realizes they’re doing
God’s very important work, Will goes all Big Daddy and protects Mackenzie’s honor while saving Timmy from a well by throwing a lot of money at him and to show their appreciation the entire staff, including (sniff) Don, engages in the most treacly and hurl-inducing moment of ego stroking yet.
