Vallegirl has never actually lived in a valley, has a lot of time on her hands and likes to yell at kids about how things were in her day.  Currently in LA, she's also spent a lot of time in the great states of  New York and Florida so she's not crazy, it's just a cultural thing.

As I typed my own write-up of The Newsroom, there was a Veep marathon running on HBO.

Watching it clarifies why I hate The Newsroom. Both shows feature an ensemble cast of flawed office workers wading their way through a tricky maze of modern politics. Yet, Veep, a half-hour comedy, features more intelligently written dialog, more subtle and fully defined characters, and situations which provide more insightful commentary on what makes us dysfunctional humans tick than any (I repeat ANY) hour of The Newsroom. I think the difference is that Veep is clearly written for a 2012 audience while Aaron Sorkin’s style seems stuck in the last decade (the salad days of The West Wing).

Veep was also created by a comic genius (Armando Iannucci) who understood that he needed someone who understands Washington and brought in Frank Rich as a producer. Everyone on that show is awful…and I love each and every one of them.

But I do agree that Sorkin’s both stuck in the past and stuck on network. Other than the occasional vulgarity, nothing on Newsroom couldn’t be see on NBC.
