Thank you, X Factor, for forcing us to watch as you completely annihilated this little girl.
YOU GUYS.
Did you see it? Did you feel it? Were you aware as you were watching it that you were witnessing what is sure to go down as the most emotionally raw, totally unexpected moment on The X Factor, far outdistancing even Astro’s petty little hissy fit?
I’m talking, of course, about the dramatic elimination of Rachel Crow last night, and her subsequent collapse/meltdown. And if Nicole thought she was getting death threats before, well…all I can say is, I hope girlfriend has some serious security right now.
The rest of the elimination episode was fairly lackluster, featuring performances by Lenny Kravitz and Mary J. Blige, and no group number this week – not sure why, other than perhaps the producers had their fill of watching these poor bastards shove their voices into the cold electronic beats of club music.
It all came down last night to Marcus Canty and Rachel Crow, as the other three remaining contestants (Josh Krajcik, Melanie Amaro, and Chris Rene) were all sent to safety early on. Of course, what I SHOULD say is that it all came down to Nicole – she had the deciding vote, and when she attempted to outfox the process by forcing a deadlock, her entire plan seriously backfired – resulting in the elimination of Rachel Crow, when Nicole clearly believed Marcus would be the contestant with the lowest votes.
So now we’re set for the semi-finals next week, and we’re all in a state of shock that thrice-threatened Marcus Canty is anyway near the top four…though in reality, none of this matters because as we’ve all agreed, the producers have been setting up Melanie Amaro to win this whole thing since day one.
I’m still reeling from last night…Rachel’s ‘save me’ song was so powerful, and her tears so heartbreaking…I watched it all with my mouth hanging open. Were you guys as moved? I mean, it’s totally obvious to everyone on the planet that the wrong person went home, am I right?
Come back soon for the full recap and we’ll dish it up some more! In the meantime, if you wanna read my recap of the previous night’s performance episode, catch it here.

A couple of things…
Mary J. Blige is the truth! HER singing made me cry.
What in Mad Max Hell was Nicole wearing? If you are going to dress edgy with spikes and armour type shit then bitchup and do your job!
I felt embarrassed for Rachel. I was taught to be graciuos if I lost. That meltdown was appalling.
Harsh words sheesh, Nicole’s meltdown was way worse and Rachel’s just a kid.
Definitely the wrong person eliminated. Rachel killed it and deserved to go to the next round. Nicole’s as dumb as a box of rocks.
This show is appalling! The WORST telenovena OVER THE TOP actress could not hold a candle to Rachel’s display – quick get the smelling salts! The microphone also accidentially captured her Willy Wonka Violet impression as she WHIIIIINED “But Mommy you PROOOOOOMISED I’d WIN” Somewhere David Archuleta’s Dad is smiling. Rachel, my blueberry, it is a competition and you did not win! Have your parents re-introduce you to the real world and get on with being a 13 year old girl.
Nicole’s too distraught for words moment was so redic as well!
Every single thing about this show seems staged, fake, rehearsed, duplicitous and insulting. But yet I watch????????????????????
@zerocool…Harsh. Maybe? Rachel has been a fav of mine and if she just cried I would have understood.
The falling to the ground…no..I can’t.
I have three kids of my own (grown) that have participated in many different competitions. If they lost they acknowledged the winner and kept things moving.
I know she’s 13, but I’m old school and I just didn’t like how she handled herself.
Hmm, Rachel’s parents apparently gave up everything in order to make certain their kid would become a star. So go figure if the kid felt a little…entitled.
Here’s hoping they’ll rethink allowing kids this young to appear on shows like this. 18 should be the legal minimum. This is borderline child abuse.
Oh, also, I enjoyed how the hostdouche took the time to congratulate the other guy, all the while turning his back on a child was collapsing in tears beside him.
Rachel will be just fine, Disney has already announced they have meet and greets scheduled with her. And I’m sick of the Nicole hate. THE WRONG PERSON DID NOT GO HOME. Based on America’s votes, Rachel had fewer votes than Canty overall. Plain and simple.
I think her whole, “You promise? You promise?” thing was because Simon was on stage trying to tell her to chill the hell out because she waz already in like Flynn with Disney.
The person America voted went home – it isn’t that the wrong person went home, it is that nicole didn’t do HER JOB and vote for someone. She wasn’t even deadlocked – she just didn’t WANT TO send Rachel home so she just let America do it. Such bullshit.
And then she had this huge meltdown tooo. Way to take away from the poor child who is having her own breakdown thanks to YOU.
I never understood the deadlock thing. If America’s vote sends someone home, then it sends someone home. If the judges decide, then the judges decide. But to have America’s vote count sometimes and not other times judt doesn’t make sense to me.
This definitely was a heart breaking show only because of how cute that girl is and so far more talented and likeable than Marcus and I hate to see her cry. My 15 yr old daughter and I have adored her since the beginning. Marcus, while having some nice moments, was a lot of times off key and all over the place, yet still entertaining I suppose. I think Chris Rene should have been in the bottom 2 with marcus. Not sure why he keeps sailing on through since he’s had the weakest vocals of them all.
Just a note to considerthis to maybe think about: She was not saying “Mommy you promised me I’d win.” Our take of it was she felt it like she disappointed her parents/family and when her mom was telling her “It’s okay. It’s okay,” she was responding back by saying “You promise?” We’ve watched it quite a few times – as I’m sure everyone else has — and she didn’t say anything about winning. At least that’s the way we’re seeing it. Maybe, yes, no? It’s a huge amount of pressure to be in a national competition for anyone, let alone a 14 year old and she was feeling it big time. She’s not going to have to worry about anything. She’ll make it bigger than any one of these contestants, no doubt.
I find this Rachel Crow girl extremely creepy.
Ugh! Nicole did do her job she voted for rachel to go.
Nicole only “voted” to send Rachel home so that it go into a deadlock because she didn’t want to be the one to send someone home. That’s why she even air quoted “Rachel” when she voted. She even said afterwards in an interview that she figured American voted for Marcus to leave. She just didn’t want to be the bad guy. Since it was a deadlock, the person with the lowest votes from America went home. That person was Rachel. So basically, Nicole wanted Marcus to go home but did not do her job in sending him home. Instead she left it up to America and it was bye bye Rachel.
