Minicap: Top Chef Masters

At long last, Gasmii, at long last.  The only thing that could make me feel better about Hughnibrow’s railroading would be an immediate Naomi elimination the following week, and it was delivered!  Just like my eyes and ears from having to endure her further!

The Quickfire Challenge was blind cooking pairings, which, while as ultimately pointless as a three-legged race, was pretty entertaining.  Everyone gets a secret sibling to cook with, but Naomi gets her dad, whom she proceeds to eviscerate and verbally abuse into creating some kind of poached egg dish.  When the wall is pulled back and the relatives are revealed, Naomi has a moment of shock before hugging her dad and interviewing that that’s how she talks to her dad on a regular basis, so it’s all good!  Eeesh.

Thankfully, Traci wins, and it’s onto the Elimination Challenge.  Four people with relatives/spouses in the military arrive, and Stonecoldfox reveals that the chefs will have to prepare a buffet based on the the favorite foods of the returning soldiers.  Everything goes pretty well, but in the end, Mary Sue wins mostly because she gets to cook for Guatemalans, and that’s sort of right up her alley.  Pork is right up Naomi’s alley, but even though she gets to cook it, her interpretation of Hawaiian food doesn’t go over well with the judges or the diners.  Snap!  And just like that, we’re at a final three I can really get behind.  Thank goodness!

Check back tomorrow for the full recap!

About

Alejandra lives in Los Angeles and is an actor/writer/producer of opinions.  She loves the beach, but never goes, and hates reality stars, but follows them religiously.  In addition to TVGasm, you can read her writing at the online magazine DigN2It, or various fanfiction websites if you're industrious enough to find her.  If you're not industrious at all, a bottle of fine wine will always be an acceptable bribe.

Aaah, darn it. I despise Hughnibrow and actually liked Naomi, so it’s going to be a bummer. No offense, but I admit I got a kick out of your suffering through Naomi lasting so long. I feel oddly sadistic…

Anyway, now that Naomi’s gone, here’s hoping for Mary Sue to win the whole thing.

I loved Naomi and was sorry to see her go, as she was the best part of the show. I may not even watch the finale. Oddly enough, I’ve been to Naomi’s restaurant four or five times and in her kitchen she is NOT a crazy, loud, chef at all — she cooks out in the open for all to see and is animated but calm.
