This week’s episode of True Blood was a wild rollercoaster of emotion, filled with one “OMG” and “They did not just do that!” moment after another. After last week’s epic throwdown between the vamps and the witches, it was awesome to see where the battle lines would get drawn, and where all the citizens of Bon Temps would fall. And as the season heads toward an end, it’s cool to see the rich tapestry all start to come together!

The episode picked up right where the last one left off, with Jason seemingly shot, and Jessica about to walk into the sun and meet the true death. Natch, Jason was safe, and even managed to save Jessica’s life. She then repaid him with some serious smooching! Later, Hoyt became so manic depressive when Jessica tried to break off their relationship, that she lost control and killed him! Psych! It was just a dream! But, no, for reals, when Jessica tried to break up with Hoyt, he ended up being the one to lose control, and threw her out of the house! And when Jessica turned to Jason for a shoulder to cry on, he threw her out of his house, too!!
Meanwhile… the werewolf pack decided to stay out of the vamp-witch drama all together and Alcide promised Debbie to stay away from Sook… Sook let Eric feed on her in order to heal faster from his silver wounds, and when she fed back on him, they ended up all blissed out on each other’s blood and having crazy, hot, fantasy sex… Andy was so hungry for V that he was almost willing to lick up the chunky, charred remains of Beulah off the ground… Tommy stole Mrs. Fortenberry’s clothes and then hilariously shifted into her in an attempt to scam the dude from the gas company, but he ended up having to settle for crumbs as usual… Lala finally got the backstory on the 1930′s singing black ghost (her married white lover supposedly killed their child) before she possessed him into sneaking into the Bellefleur mansion and swiping baby Mikey… and of course, as I predicted, Marcus turned out to be Luna’s crazy ex, and he was none too pleased to find Sam playing house with Luna and his daughter.
In the end, Beel called Antonia and asked her to meet him in the cemetery for a peace settlement. Naturally, neither one trusted the other, and they both brought in secret reinforcements. Beel wanted Antonia to reverse her spells on Eric and Pam in exchange for his guarantee of safety. Sook sensed a double cross, and that’s when things went horribly awry! Antonia cast a wicked fog spell, and everyone seemed to get lost in the shuffle and confusion. Sook got shot! Beel got silvered by the witches! And Eric fell under Antonia’s control! And when Debbie saw Alcide rush to Sook’s rescue, she started to fill with uncontrollable, psychotic rage…! So many cliffhangers! Stay tuned for the full recap!!

I want the real Eric back because this emasculated one who talks like Edward Cullen is really beginning to bug the hell out of me. And he brings out the worst, most schmaltzy instincts in Anna Paquin. She’s back to the twitching, gulping “ingenue” of the first season. Blech.
And I don’t like the whole deus ex machina of having an all powerful Big Bad. It sucked with Maryanne and it sucks with Antonia. She’s beyond control because she can do anything and everything so they’re going to have to pull something out of their asses in the last episode and just say “TA DA!” so that everyone’s fine.
But I am liking how actors are getting to do their Marshall Allman impressions. Sam Trammell was brilliant, but the woman who plays Maxine was pretty awesome, too.
I want Eric back too, this whole on his knees at Martonia’s feet does not work for me at all…
I call Eric in his current state “short bus pansy Eric.” It’s like the writers’ goal is to see how many weeks in a row they can make Alexander Skarsgard look like a little bitch. I can deal with it, i guess, but only as long as he keeps running around without pants.
I’m sorry, I love seeing submissive Eric. When he eventually does go back to “normal” it will be so sad.
I like both Erics and I like the way Sookie responded to his question. Bill is where he should be..he’s always in his head. He couldn’t handle the Sookie situation (new to sex and intimacy.) I know from Sookie’s side of the experience.
It’s refreshing, when you’re an older virgin, to have someone who doesn’t BS you. At least in my situation.
