Minicap: True Blood

I feel incredibly conflicted about last night’s episode of True Blood. Was it good? No. Was it bad? No. While it was nice to take a bit of a break from Marnia and her increasingly annoying accent, the rest of the ensemble had the opportunity to shine – and simply didn’t. I don’t think it qualified as the worst episode of the season. It definitely had a few moments of genius. But this does not a great episode make.

The episode was off to a dismal start – especially in light of all of the masterful cliffhangers that were setup by last week’s episode. Somehow, Beel miraculously escaped the witches and used his blood to save Sook from her gunshot wound. Alcide proved virtually useless, and instead of causing a scene, Debbie just rolled over and feigned sleep!

Meanwhile… all hell broke loose when a possessed Lala took baby Mikey hostage inside Hoyt’s house, and Arlene and Terry had to join forces with Jesus, Jason, and a drugged-up Sheriff Andy in order to subdue the restless spirit of Mavis… Debbie got all hopped up on V again… Sook had an erotic dream wherein she had a threesome with Beel and Eric… Sam went camping with Luna and Emma… Tommy tried to be a hero for once and pretended to be Sam at a showdown with the violent Marcus, and Alcide had to step in before Tommy got beaten to more of a pulp… Hoyt boxed up the last of Jessica’s stuff and asked his bestie Jason to deliver it – which he did – along with multiple orgasms!

In the end, a crazed Debbie chummed up to Sook and helped her break into the MoonGoddess Emporium to rescue Eric. Instead, they discovered that Marnia was holding Tara, Holly, and the other Wiccans hostage, and that she planned to use a spellbound Eric as part of her plan to assassinate Queen Beel at the AVL-sponsored Festival of Tolerance. Sook arrived at the rally moments before Marnia unleashed Eric (and the other vamp sheriffs) on the crowd, and shouted desperately to Beel: “RUN!” Stay tuned for the full recap, and check out last week’s recap here while you wait!

SlifeGoesOn may be one of the newer recappers at TVgasm.com, but his love for television is older than he is!  He was exposed to endless hours of Charlie's Angels, DallasHart to Hart, and Remington Steele while still in his mother's womb, and it is no wonder that one of his earliest memories in life is of watching the epic fire that consumed La Mirage in Dynasty's sixth season finale.  He went through a troubled, awkward sci-fi phase in junior high, becoming obsessed with shows like Star Trek and The X-Files.  This paved the way to his love for Buffy The Vampire Slayer, perhaps one of the best written shows of all time.

Now a recovering ex-Trekkie, SlifeGoesOn opts for a wide array of programming, from highbrow, high concept fare, to trashy reality TV, where he makes his living as a senior story producer.  He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2010 for his work on the second season of the Style network's number one-rated hit, Ruby.

His TVgasm recaps include the finely tawt thriller Damages, the campy, gothic True Blood, as well as the guilty pleasures that are Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and The Real Housewives of New York City.  He has also done a number of interviews, with celebrities such as Carolyn Hennesy from Cougar Town.  When not gabbing about television at the watercooler with co-workers, you can usually find SlifeGoesOn parked on the couch watching reruns of Sex & The City and reciting along with the dialogue.

The best moment of the night happened about 9-12 minutes in…and if we could get a screengrab of it, that would be great!
