Minicap: True Blood

Last night’s episode of True Blood was a welcome breath of fresh air after the stinker that was last week’s turd. One thing that I particularly liked was that not one bit of the episode felt predictable. I was constantly on the edge of my seat, and shocked by what was going down. And even better still, while the battle lines between vamps and witches (and werewolves and shifters) have been drawn, there are now fractions amongst the factions, which only makes for far more compelling television!!

The episode picked up right where the last one left off, with Marnia wreaking havoc at The Dorchester Hotel in her attempt to use puppet vamp Eric to assassinate Queen Beel. Of all the people who could have come to Beel’s rescue, it turned out to be meek lil Sook herself, who bitch slapped Eric with the brightest faery light we’ve ever seen. The blast helped him regain his memory, and with Marnia’s spell broken, she was forced to retreat. The attack led to Beel deciding to wage an all out war against the witchy bitch, and he ordered MoonGoddess Emporium to be bombed!

Meanwhile… Tommy died! Hallelujah!! I was jumping for joy, but Sam was not so enthusiastic, and sought revenge against wolfpack master Marcus, who was a little preoccupied putting the moves on Alcide’s girlfriend, Debbie… Jason felt guilty about sleeping with bestie Hoyt’s ex-girlfriend Jessica, and wanted her to glamour him, but she refused… Arlene and Terry confronted Sheriff Andy about his drug abuse, and only after a heart-to-heart with his cousin could Andy come clean and confess that he was addicted to V… Tara and Holly joined forces to try to break Marnia’s spell and get the hell out of MoonGoddess Emporium… Sook, Jason, Lala, and Jesus joined forces to try to break IN to MoonGoddess Emporium to save their friends before the vamps came and bombed the gin joint!

In the end, Jesus managed to get inside, only to discover that it is Marnie running the show, NOT witchy ghost Antonia! Tara and Holly broke the protection spell and tried to make a run for it. Sook and Lala tried to help them escape, but Marnia intervened at the last minute, and Jason watched as all four of them vanished into thin air!! And as night fell, Queen Beel, Eric, Pam, and Jessica pulled up in front of MoonGoddess Emporium, dressed head to toe in bad-ass black leather, ready to annihilate some witchy ass! Stay tuned for the full recap!!

SlifeGoesOn may be one of the newer recappers at TVgasm.com, but his love for television is older than he is!  He was exposed to endless hours of Charlie's Angels, DallasHart to Hart, and Remington Steele while still in his mother's womb, and it is no wonder that one of his earliest memories in life is of watching the epic fire that consumed La Mirage in Dynasty's sixth season finale.  He went through a troubled, awkward sci-fi phase in junior high, becoming obsessed with shows like Star Trek and The X-Files.  This paved the way to his love for Buffy The Vampire Slayer, perhaps one of the best written shows of all time.

Now a recovering ex-Trekkie, SlifeGoesOn opts for a wide array of programming, from highbrow, high concept fare, to trashy reality TV, where he makes his living as a senior story producer.  He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2010 for his work on the second season of the Style network's number one-rated hit, Ruby.

His TVgasm recaps include the finely tawt thriller Damages, the campy, gothic True Blood, as well as the guilty pleasures that are Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and The Real Housewives of New York City.  He has also done a number of interviews, with celebrities such as Carolyn Hennesy from Cougar Town.  When not gabbing about television at the watercooler with co-workers, you can usually find SlifeGoesOn parked on the couch watching reruns of Sex & The City and reciting along with the dialogue.

I didn’t love this weeks ep as much as you, but I will join your excitement in the death of Tommy. Not since Lorena (finally!) died last season have I been so excited to lose a character on a TV show.

Tommy’s death almost made up for the fact that Alcide was wearing clothes (God damn it!!) And watching the vamps bitch at each other while silvered was funny.
