rockpapersciss061206Feel like watching something exciting tonight that doesn’t tax your brain as much as Fresh Meat or Hell’s Kitchen? Well, A&E has something for you! Tonight, the network formerly known for classical music and Cracker will be airing the Rock Paper Scissors Championship® from Las Vegas. Yes, it’s the latest attempt by a network to find a gaming sensation that doesn’t involve poker. I personally think there’s a world of possibilities in croquet, but that’s just me.

While some may find this competition less than appealing, there is some good news for viewers: the championship will be hosted by Dave Attel, a man who can make sipping tea hilarious (or more hilarious I should add). So for people who are still confounded as to how paper could ever beat rock, or for those of you who simply have been jonesing for some Attel now that Insomniac seems to be lost and gone forever, check out the show tonight at 10 PM EST.

And yes, I’m blatantly shilling this for my friend who worked on the show.

Rock Paper Scissors always winds up being Bare Knuckle Brawl where I come from. Now if I could just get someone to see the brilliance in televised Boggle Championships. Or maybe there could be an Iron Boggle America where I am the reigning champ who takes on all comers. Most of them are reduced to tears as they listen to my pencil furiously scratching out 8 letter words. This has success written all over it. Bring it on Peggy Hill.

I feel bad for your friend that worked for the show. It was a disgrace.

The best part about this show for me, is the fact that – as a bartender in little old Seneca Falls, NY – we had “Rock, Paper, Scissors Night” where everyone in the bar signed up to compete and the winner would move on to the next round – three rounds later and I could have been on A&E! LOL
I almost died when I saw this was televised. It coulda been me, it coulda been me!!!! hahahaha

I used to date a guy who liked to play this game. Except he called it yank it, spank it, flank it. Looks the same, though.
