Connie Chung: Voice of an Angel

Miscellaneous TV

When Big Brother eventually ends its illustrious run, we can only hope Julie Chen does something as marvelously disastrous as this performance by Connie Chung. I can’t really explain this amazing cabaret clip. Apparently Connie Chung sang this song when her short-lived news program, Weekends with Maury & Connie, was cancelled. All I can say is that between Connie’s awful singing, her labored piano roll-off, and the smiling, useless pianist in the background, this is just a classic bit of torch song splendor. If only the Chenbot were there to duet.

What the HELL was that?! Was that pianist even playing? All I could hear was this low growling bass…I mean Connie.

I had to watch it on gawker.

This kind of thing is only funny when Dame Edna Everage does it — and always with a great deal more flair and humour (natch).

I tried. I really really tried to get through it, but I couldn’t make it to the end. I feel like such a failure.

I cannot express the sheer joy and happiness that this cilp has given me.

    God bless you…

Forget a Chenbot-Chung duet…how about a trio with Chenbot, Chung, and Bai Ling?!?

Magic! Pure magic, I tell you!

    Wow…

I’ve been checking out this site for about a year now and this is the first time I’ve been inclined to comment… and yet, I’m speechless.

Although, I particularly enjoyed the grunting/straining as she slowly got off the piano.

is your title on this post an obscure reference to the cheese-tastic movie “drop dead gorgeous” starring kirstie alley, allison janney, kirsten dunst, ellen barkin, and denise richards?

seriously, its like the best movie ever.

Was she drunk when she did this?

It sure beats anything I’ve had the misfortune to hear on karaoke-and I’ve heard some pretty bad singers…

You know, this isn’t so bad when you consider the other boners she pulled on her show with Maurey; the voice-over’d writing in her diary, demasculating her hubby on TV, the awkward banter newteen her and Maurey,…

Wasn’t she a respected news woman at 1 point in her career? Sad. Tragic. I loved it!

I thought it was Bobby Lee from MadTV for a moment. I love his impression of Connie.

    This is truly horrible.

I think it’s pretty much guaranteed, but it’s unclear whether it will be in the “What the old people are watching” segment or by itself.

I think she is being drugged or very very drunk. Or someone set her up. I just don’t believe Connie would do anything like this at work. At home would be possible.

Maybe it’s time for her to retire, and start on her memoir.
