And you thought the Paris Hilton jailbreak was a waste of oxygen? The Beckhams are in LA. And seriously, do these people have fans? Aside from his soccer prowess, which is appreciated in other parts of the world, are people really curious about these very British, very European proles with pretensions? Does any one give a flying–

Anyway, Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, the stick figure with silicone bags attached to her chest, will be featured in an NBC special Monday night that was supposed to be a reality series until someone in power, probably new programmer and party animal Ben Silverman, realized a Posh series would contain half the content and brains of Hey Paula!, and wisely downgraded it into a single hour, and talks exclusively with Ryan Seacrest (whose American Idol/Simon Cowell/Simon Fuller/Spice Girls connection came in handy) on E! tonight.

The big news? She says she’ll smile more.“I have never been a big smiler, but I will try and smile more here in America. I promise. I know sometimes I come across looking like a cow, but I really am a fun girl’s girl. I like clothes, make-up, shoes and shopping with my friends like everyone else.”

“Since arriving, everyone has been so kind to us, it’s been really incredible. The kids actually think we are moving to Disneyland.”

“There really are many more famous people here in LA than David and I. We’re just new.”

“I take all my jobs very seriously, but I’m basically here to support David and look after the children.”

“David only has a 5-year contract to play soccer here, but we really love America. It’s a great place to raise kids.”

“Everyone is so positive and patriotic. We really don’t know what to do first, go to Disneyland or surf.”

See it all tonight on E! News(7pm and 11pm ET/PT).

the rest of the pics are on w magazine’s website.

i love real football, especially the premiership (gunner’s fan, though). so having a talent like david beckham here *would* actually get me to watch and even attend an mls game. the guy’s is legend material.

BUT, i don’t know what his whole image off the field is about. he has a beautiful body for sure, but just looking at the magazine spread had me scratching my head.

british women (and men) may like their men wearing tighty whities with tattoos in the small of their back, but i didn’t find it attractive at all.

as a woman, it was actually kind of strange (IMO) seeing a married man (who probably cheated on his wife with another lady, no less) style himself like he’s trying to make a (misguided) appeal to the same-sex crowd.

i think he’s trying way too hard and that doesn’t translate too well over here.

just stick with the football please and you’ll do just fine.

i don’t even think they were tighty whities. they might have been women’s v-cut underwear. very strange.

the pics would have been better if he’d just had nothing on at all in those shots. but overall i think talented athletes should just let the sport do the talking.
