Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!! – UPDATE

Miscellaneous TV

For the past few months, YouTube has become a nice little diversion for bored people. For those who missed televised pop culture phenomenon’s or home video of a 14 year old dancing with friends, YouTube.com has become a pretty good library of the cool and random.

What does this have to do with TV? Well it seems The Simpson’s creator Matt Groening has been watching over the past few weeks as the LIVE ACTION SIMPSONS video became the webs new “Lazy Sunday.” He was such a fan that he acquired the rights to it and is making it the opening of the show this Sunday on FOX. The opening is pretty freaking cool, but more cool is the idea that with the help of a website like YouTube, some fan who has too much spare time and not enough contact from the opposite sex, can go from a show’s fan to a shows contributor without the aid of an agent, manager etc. (ps, I love that run on sentence).

In the event you haven’t already seen it, below you can find the live action opening. Regardless, I urge you all to set your Tivo’s and check it out FOX Sunday night at 8:00 when a fellow TV fan has the ultimate TVgasm as his project opens up his favorite show on network television.

Congratulation mystery random guy who made this. If you turn out to be a corporation, Ill be quite dissapointed.

UPDATE- Thanks to TVgasm reader Wade, I have no leared that, “Painstakingly crafted by Sky and its ad agency Devilfish, the video was originally intended as an on-air promotion for the Sky One network, which airs new episodes of The Simpsons in the UK.” This has taught me one thing, don’t bother dreaming children. Rupert owns all your dreams.

Prepare to be disappointed: It was commissioned to be a British TV promo by one of Rupert Murdoch’s networks. D’oh!

Yeah, I wondered why Marge was sitting in the “passenger’s” seat when her and Maggie are driving home from the store… now it makes sense! They’re in the UK.

You should also watch The Simpsons this Sunday because it’s the episode that was written by Ricky Gervais (from the original The Office).

Gosh, madeyoulaugh, that’s NOT a run on–in construct, that sentence is pretty close to perfect, though you really shouldn’t use the “etc.” until you have listed three items. Oh, and you left the apostrophe out of the second of your “shows”. Just because a construct is LONG does not make it flawed; in fact, your control within that structure reveals your native sophistication, at least on paper…

The live action Marge in that bit looks like Mary Gross(SNL 80s cast member)

The live-action Lisa seems completely wrong to me, but otherwise it’s very fun to watch.
