Yes, They Die in Threes. It’s a fact, from the Saddam Hussein-Gerald Ford-James Brown trifecta to the Great Blues Artists of America: when two of them go, a third is bound to follow, so the Death Watch is on, now that two familiar figures from TV’s Golden Age of trashy pop culture have kicked the bucket.

First there’s Tige Andrews, star of stage, screen and television, and two-time Emmy nominee. You know him as Captain Greer, the gruff yet understanding mentor to Linc, Julie and Pete of The Mod Squad. He’s died at age 86.

Lee Bergere shuffled off this mortal coil on Wednesday at the ripe age of 88. In a 60-year career, he appeared in more than 200 television shows, including Bonanza, Get Smart, My Favorite Martian, North and South, Falcon Crest, Soap, Murder, She Wrote, and most notably, Dynasty.
