Welcome back to another Mob Wives episode Gasmii! Before we get started, I want to encourage all of you to submit questions for the reunion on VH1′s website. After a CousinSuckUp free episode last week, we were bombarded by her and her troubles this week. Plus, there was way too much time spent on Karen’s book. However, there is a reprieve in the form of Drita and Gizelle! As well as plenty of Big Ang (yay!).
So, we start out with CousinSuckUp meeting up with Renee. Renee talks about how she is pulling herself together for AJ’s sake. She is worried about people looking at her with distrust, but she is going to be there for her family. Then, CousinSuckUp tells us that the Feds took her jewelry when they raided her boyfriend’s place. She wants it back and Renee tells her that the Feds can do what they want and it isn’t up to CousinSuckUp.
Big Ang (yay!) is having a Christmas party. And, she is throwing it at her sister’s house (I’m loving that they are totally setting the stage for Big Ang’s spinoff). Renee arrives at the party and exclaims that it has Big Ang written all over it. And it totally does. Drita arrives and says that it’s like having Christmas at Scarface’s house – minus the Uzis and cocaine, allegedly. The party is going great. Well except for the caviar.

But, no worries, because there are also mimosas, and mimosa’s are like Christmas in your mouth. Seriously, that’s what Big Ang’s sister says as I fall a little more in love with Big Ang’s family.
Anyway, Renee sees Drita making the rounds and calls her over. It’s funny because for a split second, I thought it was going to be some kind of showdown, then I remembered that the two of them already made up after the dramatic nonsense that CousinSuckUp tried to pull. Big Ang isn’t sure where it’s going either and she just doesn’t want any drama.

Renee dives right into the subject of what Carla supposedly said. And, honestly? It should be obvious to Renee by now that Karen was just stirring shit for the sake of it. But, no. She took Karen at her word that Carla was accusing Renee of knowing that Junior was wearing a wire. Which is the dumbest thing ever. Both Big Ang and Drita tell Renee that Carla didn’t mean that. They tell her she needs to take it up with Carla because Carla will speak without thinking (I’m seeing more and more similarities between Carla and Renee’s personalities as the seasons progress). Whereas, Renee will accuse people without proof, Carla will say what’s on her mind without thinking it through. Renee accepts Drita as the voice of reason – which come on that’s a no brainer, except when she’s angry and her veins start popping, Drita is usually spot on in her assessment of most situations.
Anyway, Renee realizes that they are being rude by sequestering themselves to discuss this while at a party. I love it when these women show self awareness. It’s so refreshing on a reality show.

Later, Drita and Carla meet up. Carla is very pissed at Renee. And, I actually understand why. It’s weird to be on Carla’s side so often this season, but she’s growing on me. She thinks it’s ridiculous that Renee would accuse her of something like that without ever once calling her to verify it. And it’s true. A lot of people on the interwebs were saying that Carla should have called Renee. But, I disagree because Carla wasn’t the one accusing Renee of anything. Renee, on the other hand, was accusing Carla of something. Anyway, Carla is over Renee’s habit of blowing things that she’s heard out of context out of proportion. Only, Carla says that same thing while using the word “fuck” a lot.
Drita, just wants to heal as many rifts as she can. She feels like with so many divides between everyone, they are all going to, end up by themselves “All of us fucking eating soup, like dicks, talking to ourselves in a mirror.” Good lord, I love that woman! I hope she makes many appearances on Big Ang’s show.

Now, we are back to CousinSuckUp. She is still pissed about her jewelry. She claims she had over 200k worth of jewelry taken from her duffel bag. Guess what else was in that duffel bag? Her kids’ birth certificates and papers documenting their middle eastern heritage. But, it’s the jewelry that really has her angry. She goes to see her boyfriend’s lawyer. Why doesn’t she have her own lawyer? He tells her that the jewelry has been confiscated and is in a vault in Texas. They sent her a list of what they have and she objects to the way they priced things, because some of it is “vintage.” Also, she plugs the movie Donnie Brasco again when mentioning her grandfather’s St. Christopher medal and how it’s priceless. For someone who hated that movie, she sure does find a lot of ways to reference it.
So, now Carla and Renee sit down. I can tell that Renee is kind of surprised at just how angry Carla is. Carla tells Renee what she did actually say and then explains why she is so angry. She says that they have known each other since forever and it’s just not right for Renee to jump the gun and assume that Carla would ever suggest that Renee was in on her father being sent away. She wants Renee to at least trust her enough to hear her side of things before jumping to conclusions.

Renee, to her credit, sees exactly why Carla was pissed and even takes full responsibility for the misunderstanding. She says that this whole thing with Junior has made her so paranoid and extra sensitive that she did overreact. The two shake hands and make up – for probably the millionth, but definitely not the last time.
CousinSuckUp is still so upset about the duffel bag heist of her jewelry (and I guess her kids’ birth certificates? I don’t know she didn’t say), that she needs to take her mind off of it. So, she invites Karen and Big Ang to go belly dancing. OK. Am I the only person who thought that this was CousinSuckUp’s way of 1. Showing off and 2. Making herself seem like the hot one? Because, that is totally the vibe I got from that entire scene. Excluding that, it is still pretty cute because Big Ang’s boobs are so big that she is way too off balance to actually do the moves, and she calls it a nightmare (Big Ang steals scenes without even trying). Karen says something about not feeling sexy – not because of her weight gain, but because her father’s victims (she calls them haters) are angry at her about the book.
Here is my thing, I agreed with Drita in the first episode of the first season when she said that Karen should not be held accountable for her father’s actions. I also agree that Karen has a right to tell her story – not that I’m the least bit interested in it. But, I also see victims’ point. No one should profit from the murders that Sammy committed. And, this is an especially tough call, because in some ways this very show is a version of the women profiting from the crimes of the men in their lives. They wouldn’t be relevant enough for the show to exist if their fathers/husbands/grandfathers/uncles hadn’t been criminals.
But, Karen’s shit about feeling like people are trying to crucify her because her last name is Gravano? That’s just ridiculous. Stop trying to be a fucking martyr Karen. No one is crucifying you. Also, it has nothing to do with your last name being Gravano and everything to do with the fact that you are capitalizing on your Father and by extension his crimes to make a buck. We know that this is a hustle for you and not a chance to “answer questions everyone has been dying to ask” you. Which, did you really have to phrase it that way? Douchebag!

Anyway, Big Ang and CousinSuckUp are appropriately sympathetic and Karen then starts talking about her book release party. See? She isn’t all that concerned about what the victims think. I also wish she would get her terminology right. The people who want to sue are victims of her father. They are not “haters.” A hater is someone like me. See the difference? And, what was that bullshit she was saying about how she is a victim of her father too? Seriously, aren’t you the one who told us to “check your bloodline?” Karen Sucks!
Renee and Carla meet up and have tea. It’s so fucking civilized that for a second, I’m completely thrown off and think I’m watching a different show. Renee asks Carla if she wants to ride with her and AJ to Karen’s book release. Carla isn’t going. She thinks it was nice of Karen to invite her, but she doesn’t think she will be missed. Plus, she has no desire to be surrounded by Karen’s friends as they bash Drita. She wants to avoid the drama and any awkwardness. And Renee agrees with Carla’s attitude. Seriously, did someone slip Renee some drugs?
CUTENESS ALERT!
Drita and Gizelle hare hanging out in the kitchen talking about what Gizelle did at school that day. Turns out both Gizelle and Aleeya have been doing a bang up job at school. Drita tells Gizelle that they are going to get a puppy and the only thing cuter than a puppy has to be this face:

Gizelle wants to name the puppy Sparkles. But Drita isn’t down with that. She ain’t fucking naming no dog “Sparkles.” LOVE HER! The entire thing is just cuteness from top to bottom and I love watching her interact with her kids.
Karen is getting her makeup done for her book release party when CousinSuckUp arrives. Karen gives her a signed copy of the book. I have to include the inscription because, there is no way that she actually wrote the book.

I’ve been told that I make typos in my recaps – I know, it surprised me too. But, come on, you know I couldn’t resist pointing out that spelling error by a published “author.”
Drita thinks the fucking book is annoying – I heard that sister! She claims she doesn’t care about the book because it’s probably filled with lies anyway. I can understand that. But, I do think she cares. I think she cares for the same reason that she tried to make up with Karen earlier in the season. I think that at the time of this filming, she did still care about Karen. I think she would have been one of Karen’s biggest cheerleaders if things hadn’t gone down the way they did.
Anyway, Karen and CousinSuckUp seemed to have caught on that Big Ang is the real star. So they are making sure that they are filmed with her as often as possible. Big Ang, Renee, and CousinSuckUp attend Karen’s party. They have a good time and we see Karen’s brother.

I really don’t care enough about the book or Karen to recap the party scenes.
Anyway, since the episode has been light on drama so far, we return to Junior and even more fallout from his betrayal. CousinSuckUp is spreading the word that another bust happened on account of Junior. She calls Big Ang first. Then, she sits down with Karen. She says that because of Junior, Renee’s best friend’s husband has been picked up by the Feds (is the friend in question Nikkole or, someone else?). Karen speaks from experience when she says, “when a person cooperates, they don’t just cooperate against one person.”

So now Renee is in this awful situation. It’s not just her father, but now long time friends are put in a situation to distrust her. She believes that they are all going to look at her and say it was her fault. She is talking to Big Ang on the phone as she heads to her father’s status hearing. Big Ang, ever the awesome voice of reason, says, “Fuck what everybody else thinks. Because you didn’t do this.” I love her so much!
We end with Renee heading into the courthouse. All in all, this wasn’t a bad episode. I liked last week’s better but, I guess CousinSuckUp has to get some camera time – not sure why. But, it is nice to see the women rally around Renee and to see Renee acknowledge that Carla isn’t her enemy. Plus, how cute was Gizelle leading the stuffed puppy around on a leash? What did you guys think?

I could watch a whole hour show of Drita and Giselle, I flove them together!
If Karen was Soooo bothered by the haters, she should change her last name to Smith, but she won’t cause she’s sooo proud of her daddy. I refuse to pay for da book, so I got the free sample off Kindle and let me tell you, she should get the Mother (and Aunt) of the Year award! She talks about taking her daughter and her nephew to go and see her daddy at the super duper maximum prison and how she told them that her daddy murdered people and was a gangster. Really? You cannot let the kids stay innocent? Like that’s not going to give these poor kids nightmares for the rest of their lives (especially considering how she descibed how Sammy looks these days, toothless and gray) . Uggggg her daughter should be taken away from her STAT!
Good thing I didn’t read the whole book, huh?
Ughh too much Ramona & Karen. They need to go ! I refuse to read the book because I would love it if only a couple copies sold & Karen was so ashamed she disappeared… but that probably won’t happen since Karen will buy as many copies as she can. Anyway I love seeing Renee have a better attitude & I’m glad she actually listened to Carla. Drita & her daughter are just the most adorable thing ever ! People can say a lot of things about Drita but they cannot say she’s a bad mother. Unlike Karen who goes episodes without mentioning her daughter. Now that she’s done with her book will she go back to taking care of daughter? I doubt it…she’s probably going to continue famewhoring….
Wow shit ton of women at the Christmas party.
My stupid TWC DVR decided it wanted to freeze up during Drita and Gizelle’s scenes, so I didn’t get to see that face, but I love Drita and she seems like a good mom.
Question – if CSU has a billion dollars worth of jewelry…why is she hauling it around in a duffel bag? I mean, seriously – I have a pair of $5.99 earrings from the Walmarts and even I have a jewelry box on my dresser. And if I was squatting with my boyfriend of 3 minutes, I use a real suitcase, not a duffel bag. And she keeps her kids’ birth certificates in a duffel bag? Yeah, the feds took that shit so they’d have a story out of it. Good luck getting it back – Jewelry Protective Services has already stepped in and is trying to find suitable homes for your necklaces and what not, biatch.
This was the best recap I’ve seen yet coz I was wondering if I was the only one that realized these women on TV are getting rich coz their relatives either murdered, sold drugs to, or extorted others. Those proverbial “others” could be my own relatives or yours. First off, let me say I’m an asshole because I do watch this show….but this show makes me sick because of what I’ve just said. The very name of the show is stupid. None of them, with the exception of Drita, is a mob “wife.” Carla freely admits she never knew any of these women growing up and only knows them from the show. Her (ex?) husband went to jail for stock fraud. Really? Do you think Renee’s or Karen’s fathers (not husbands…as in Mob “Wives”) even know what stock is, how to buy stock in any company, or what the return is? Carla, in my opinion, tries very hard to look like Kim Kardashian, which is Carla’s only claim to fame here, other than fame whore, is that she is pretty. Lee isn’t “connected,” he is just a thug. Karen and Ramona are really true fame whores, and for all of Ramona’s BS that she has 200K in jewelry and married a rich Arab, she must be broke and the same for Karen. I will never read one sentence in a book that tells about a father murdering and selling drugs to others. My best friend’s 19 year old son died of a drug overdose (grant it, no one forced the kid to buy or do the drugs but I’m not helping Karen extoll the virtues of murder and drug dealing). The only one who is real, though not a “wife” is Renee. While Karen is “connected,” Renee’s dad is/was active in the “life” and I also think she desperately needs the money because otherwise why would she continue with the show when her father refuses to speak to her because of the very same show? She shows real feeling and emotion and how messed up the “lifestyle” is, wants out of it, doesn’t blame the federal government, and wants to protect her son. One day I will get smart and stop watching so these women quit earning money because their relatives are murderers. Just some random thoughts.
Hahah! Yes, that is a very good thing. I have debated about whether or not to read it. On the one hand, I don’t want to support this book in anyway. On the other hand, it would make for awesome snark material.
I know! I love seeing Drita interact with her kids. And, her youngest daughter has to be the cutest kid on television. The way she was dragging her “puppy” around on his leash when they got out of the car… if they gout rid of Karen and CousinSuckUp, they could fill in those scenes with Drita and her kids.
I was trying to figure that out too. Didn’t they say she had all of this expensive luggage when they went to the Poconos? Why would she keep her kids’ birth certificates and priceless jewelry in a duffel bag? Of course the Feds confiscated it. It was sitting in a duffel bag in a drug dealers house. For all they knew the jewelry could have been stolen. But, I loved how she didn’t seem at all concerned about the birth certificates though. It shows where her priorities are.
Welcome! I do want to point out that Carla’s father and uncle were actually very connected. I believe her uncle was even murdered by a rival gang. Also, I would definitely count Renee as a wife. She and Junior were married throughout his work with the mob. And, before all of this stuff from him wearing a wire came down, they were actually planning to re-marry.
The only one who was never actually married Karen.
@PA, it is written so poorly that I don’t know if you’d be able to get through it all. If you have a kindle or a tablet of some kind, download the free sample (about two chapters) and you’ll see what I mean.
I hope she never gets her jewlery back, serves her right for moving her kids in with a stranger. $200K of jewlery and no insurance on it? Lame! Who cares about kid’s birth certificates when there’s a grandpa’s necklace to worry about. Why is she mentioning Donnie Brasco, that’s not her grandfather’s name! What a poser.
This is what I was thinking CL. Wouldn’t you keep such precious items in a maybe a lock box at the bank or locked away some where. Who keeps 200K in jewelery lying around in a duffle bag?!?!!? Shut up liar!
I too was surprised that Renee just listened to what Carla had to say and then apologized. I just knew we were in for another knock down drag out fight, but I am glad they were able to talk their issues out like adults unlike those bitches on basketball wives.
I have it on order through my library. I figured if I could read Frank Calabrese Jr’s book, I can read this one. No harm, no foul.
I tried to order it yesterday and couldn’t find it. I was disappointed because I know there has to be alot to snark on.
As long as I don’t have pay for it. I’ll give it a sample. If I make it past the first page, I’ll consider reviewing it for you guys – if I can find a copy for free that is.
Renee is a smoker.
It would have taken AGES for her to climb up on a table, get her balance, totter a few steps, then get ready for the LAUNCH to “sting” Carla.
Nah..can’t see it happen.
I kinda watched “Donnie Brasco” and my memory is a little fuzzy, but wasn’t Lefty a loser? He was always bitching about not being “made” and he was the one that brought the FBI plant into the “family. Am I remembering this correctly?
As far as Karen’s book. If she tells stories about her growing up as a mob daughter in the same vein as she does when rehashing coversations with Carla to Renee, or her THs when she tells us about her various confrontations….uhmmmmm….well I’m not gonna say it’s probably a book of lies (but I totally am).
@classy drunk – did you try Amazon? I think they have it for $16 and change. I should go back and read the comments on her book, they’re always good for a chuckle especially if “Susan Sanders ” shows up!
Very good points. I personally didn’t think this was interesting enough to put on the show, but I guess CSU needs something to talk about. What else does she have going? And it’s not $200K. The feds should be able to spot an “antique”
Maybe I should wait and just use my library card for a change. I am paying my tax dollars might as well use them for something.
I took one for the team and checked out the comment section on da book. It has horrible reviews, most people gave it one star. They printed out the whole first chapter on Amazon if you want to check it out. Just find da book and scroll down, it’s between the book description and the comment section.
Now you’ve got me curious. Who is Susan Sanders? BTW I read the comments on her book shortly after it came out and they were not good, lol.
@Jupiter – sorry about that. Susan Sanders was the fake name Jill Zarin (RHNY) used to write glowing reviews on Amazon about her own book. She attacked anyone who gave her bad reviews and she was dumb enough to leave old info on her account and was found out. It was truly hysterical!
@Juliesf – sorry about that. Susan Sanders was the fake name Jill Zarin (RHNY) used to write glowing reviews on Amazon about her own book. She attacked anyone who gave her bad reviews and she was dumb enough to leave old info on her account and was found out. It was truly hysterical!
@Juliesf – my Kindle went crazy, for some reason my reply to you jumped up to comment 23. See above.
@sheesh That’s true, Lefty was the guy that brought in Donnie Brasco.
Now Ramona said there were mean lies in that movie. But I read the book written by Donnie Brasco, real name Joseph Pistone, & it all pretty much is the same. I doubt Joseph Pistone lied about Ramona’s grandfather considering Joseph was a cop & he was wearing a wire the whole time, so they have evidence. The only difference is that in the movie it seems like the mob killed Lefty but they forgave him because he didn’t rat on them.
PlathAddict, thank you for the recaps.
I didn’t watch this one yet because I knew it was all about the book.
It takes alot to really annoy me, but there is something about the way Karen says the word BOOK that pisses me off.
It’s a weird mix of bick and boo-k, and I can only imagine how may times she mentioned it in this episode.
Yes, I’m positive that CSU has never actually seen the movie. In a previous episode she said something about how the movie had her grandfather shot up and dying in the street when in actuality he died of cancer.
The move actually left it it very open where you would assume that the mob was going to kill him, but they didn’t actually do it. So, she keeps throwing the movie out there as her connection to the mob lifestyle, but it’s obvious that she never even bothered to watch it.
I just had the best time reading the comments on the book review. They are brutal. Some of them seem like obvious plants – I definitely suspect some Susan Saunders action happening, but overall, it seems to be a poorly written book that doesn’t add anything new to what we already know about Karen.
@PA-Some of the comments were awesome and I think that the only way she got any 5 star reviews if she and her family put them in there. Remember when Taylor Armstrong got snagged twitting a good review under her own name? Awesome, I just love it when they get caught! Did you get to read the first chapter they printed? Her daughter was 9 and her newphew was 10 when she took them to see Sammy. She is such an asshole!!
Love it Sheesh! What a shit fest that show has turned into. I almost can’t watch b/c it’s filled with buffoonery by women who if they aren’t in their 40′s they are close to it. It’s like bad girls club…40′s edition.
