It’s so good to be back! Even though, this episode was much more tame than what the ladies usually bring, it still featured a couple of revelations – well, not really new. I mean, we did already know that Renee is cracking and Junior is a scumbag. But, still, it was interesting to see the depths of all that play out.
Let’s get to it, shall we?
We start out with Drita meeting up with her boxing trainer. She admits that she got into “a little bit of a fight” at a birthday party. And she is irritated with herself because she was trying not to fight out in public anymore. I think she means outside of the actual ring. But, it does sound like she is saying, she won’t fight in public but will beat a bitch down behind closed doors. She is on a mission to control her temper, but feels like it would be a lot easier if she weren’t around douche bags and jerk-offs. She explains that as a kid, her parents sent her to school with a crew cut and earrings, a blue dress, and an Albanian accent. She feels like she was set up from the beginning to have defend herself against abuse. Her first fist fight was in kindergarten. I LOVE HER! I know it’s wrong to love someone with such obvious anger issues, but I do. And, I love even more that she acknowledges it and is trying to do something to fix it.
If I can just manage to stay away from douche bags, everything will be fine.
Now we have to meet up with Karen and CousinSuckUp. They have this ridiculous conversation rehashing the sit-down with Carla. And, I don’t want to recap that. I will point out that this entire conversation seems very very scripted. I did figure out what exactly is going on between CousinSuckUp and Drita though. CousinSuckUp wants Drita’s spot on the show. She seems to think that she would be more likable in the pretty girl brawler role. And, do I even need to comment on that asinine idea?
Carla sits down to tell Drita that she went and talked with CousinSuckUp. Drita wants Carla to be careful because CousinSuckUp is a master manipulator. To be fair, we DID see CousinSuckUp manipulate Karen into smelling her own farts. Of course, she wasn’t successful in convincing Renee to drop Drita as a friend. Which is what she was totally trying to do after the birthday brawl. Maybe she only has manipulative powers when it comes to Karen? We shall see.
Yay! Big Ang! And her little puppy Louie! Louie, just like the rest of the world, loves Big Ang. Big Ang is taking Louie shopping. She talks about how the wise guy that was seeing vanished before he could buy her Louie. This is why Big Ang is just so freaking awesome; she says that when she was dating wise guys they would buy her diamonds, cars, furs, houses, and Persian cats – from other countries! And she says it all in such a joyous way, that you can’t help but smile in reaction.
Everybody loves Big Ang!
This woman was MADE to be a reality star! Anyway, when the guy vanished, she bought her own puppy. Not a fan of her allowing Louie to piss in the store a couple of times. But, it’s Big Ang! So, I forgive her this time.
Back to Karen. She is meeting with a media coach to get help with her interview for her book. She explains to the coach that she is going on a media tour and that her book is anticipated to be a best seller!
NOOOOO!
She then outright says that her father was a gangster and killed 19 people and because he cooperated, he is an “escape goat.” She says that when people talk about her dad being a snitch, or her making money off his blood money, she loses her temper and gets aggressive. The coach tells her that she can deflect those types of questions, but wants to know if Karen is worried about mob retaliation. Karen looks at her blankly, then smirks that this is what she wants to do and she is just going to go out there and do it.
Junior and Renee try their first couple’s counseling session. Renee is still hung up on all of the hurt that Junior has caused her over the years. I don’t think anyone is prepared for what Renee is about to say.
The counselor asks how the met. Junior talks about how when they first met, he was in love with her but was overwhelmed because he wasn’t read for it. He admits that he cheated as a result.
Renee is extremely offended. She is getting really upset and both Junior and the Shrink are surprised. The shrink wants to know what it is Renee heard Junior say so that they can compare it what he actually said.
Renee talks about how overpoweringly in love she was with Junior and how she remembers them both being in love with each other and wanted that relationship. She says she remembers them having a beautiful relationship until he started sleeping with strippers. The thing that is truly heartbreaking abou this? Junior most likely ALWAYS cheated on Renee. It’s just that Renee was happy before she actually found out.
They talk about the fact that they fought a lot in those years. And when the shrink asks what they fought about, Junior says the absolute wrong thing. He says they fought about her mood swings. Jesus, Junior! Don’t you know anything about drama queens by now? This really gets Renee going, she starts talking about how he wouldn’t come home at night, he was cheating, oh and she wasn’t skinny enough.
This next part is just – wow!
She says that she started getting liposuction because he was around strippers all the time. And then, she says that the other night when they were being intimate, she asked him why he no longer does it doggy style. Now, they are actually facing each other. And he said that he liked looking at her now because now she is skinny.
Junior can’t believe she brought that up. My mouth is hanging open. The shrink has just realized what type of deep deep issues are happening here. His eyes even cross a little as though he isn’t sure how to explain that this relationship is completely doomed and it has been from the very beginning.
Too much relationship baggage…Eyes…Crossing…
Renee goes on to talk about how paranoid she has become because of his constant putdowns. Junior wants her to drop it. He has totally shut down. He looks embarrassed that this was brought up on camera.

That scene made me sweat the first time through. I just wasn’t expecting it. I wasn’t expecting Junior to be willing to filmed in a counseling session. I wasn’t expecting him to actually participate in the conversation. I certainly wasn’t expecting Renee to tell us about their sexual positions as a means of declaring her body image issues.
Drita and Big Ang take Louie to the dog park. I love that Drita and Big Ang seem to genuinely enjoy each other’s friendship. Big Ang talks about the crazy 28-years-in-jail guy, and how he came over for dinner and brought her gorgeous flowers in a vase, and knife that didn’t show fingerprints, which was just what she always wanted! Anyway, she says that she thinks she’s better off being alone. I think the world is better off for having met Big Ang!
Drita says that she has been alone for so long that she can’t imagine being in a relationship. She goes on to tell Big Ang that Carla and CousinSuckUp made up. She wants Carla to just be careful. Big Ang wants all of them to grow up and be women. Big Ang thinks Karen and CousinSuckUp must keep a diary of grievances and that people fear Drita – and that’s ok! Drita tells her she took up boxing, and Big Ang says she should have taken up pole dancing. The last thing they need is more violence.
Renee is outside the courthouse and is calling Junior to apologize. Why is she apologizing? It must be because, it was on camera because I don’t think she was lying. Junior hangs up on her. I feel so bad for Renee.
CousinSuckUp arrives and talks about how drained she is after her boyfriend’s arraignment. Renee explains that the minute the guys walk into the courthouse, you already know what the outcome is and that it drains you. You walk out feeling like you have no blood. She says that once they walk in, the chances of them walking out again are slim to none, unless they’re a rat. Which – WOW!
She encourages CousinSuckUp to be the backbone and support him from outside. Considering, what I recently learned about CousinSuckUp, I don’t think she is going to go that route (thanks for the link, KeKe). But, she plays along with the conversation. Renee is a professional at dealing with this. So, it’s easy for her to give the advice.
Aleeya and Drita are in the kitchen. Aleeya says that a police officer came to her school and Aleeya asked if two girls get into a fight, would they both go to jail. And the police officer said yes. Drita looks really guilty at hearing that, but she agrees that both of the fighter should go to jail – which is why she should be doubly thankful for Big Ang never calling the cops during her teenaged brawling days.
So mom, when’s the last time you beat bitch down?
Aleeya asks if Drita has ever been in a fight. Drita tries to change the subject by asking if Aleeya wants to have a Halloween party this year. Aleeya will not be deterred. Then, there is a weird edit. The phone rings before Drita can answer and the way she jumps, it seems as though she has been literally saved by the bell. But, if you watch when she goes around to the other side of the corner to get the phone, Giselle is standing there. But when she walks back over with the phone, Giselle isn’t there.
It’s not my first time at the rodeo, Gasmii. I know that a large part of reality television is either scripted, or at the very least staged – sometimes having to shoot the same scene over and over again. So, I’m wondering if Drita actually answered the question and it was edited to look as though she were saved by the phone ringing, or the conversation was set up by producers. If it was set up by producers, I think that both Karen and CousinSuckUp should really take lessons on how to at least appear real on camera.
Anyway, it’s Lee on the phone. They haven’t spoken in months. She has filed for divorce. Lee says that he fucked up and she has every right to be upset. But, they have to put that behind them because he is going to be in his kids lives no matter what. So, they might as well be friends rather than enemies.
Drita is shocked by the fact that he admitted he fucked up and apologized. She isn’t backing down from the divorce but she thinks things could be better between them for the sake of the girls.
CousinSuckUp takes her kids to the park, and inappropriately shares that her boyfriend is in jail. She tells them to pray and maybe God will hear and he will get out on bail. Then, she tells them that she had to spend a couple of hours in jail but she didn’t do anything wrong. This scene seems OBVIOUSLY scripted, especially if the link KeKe posted has any validity – which I am totally choosing to believe it does.
You know that guy that we started living with after I had only known him a couple of months? He’s in jail now. Let’s pray for him.
Now, we have Karen talking to David. She says she wants to tell him about her Mob Candy interview, and then remembers that she should probably find out how her daughter is doing. David takes her to task for abandoning her family in order to fame whore. She immediately gets defensive and then aggressive. I guess we can add “telling the truth” to Karen’s list of things that make her aggressive. We will list it right under “don’t call my dad a snitch.”
Anyway, they get into an argument with Karen just being beyond crude and wangsterish. It’s cringe inducing to think that Karina has to deal with these two people as her primary role models. They end the conversation with several “fuck you’s” and Karen hanging up on the guy.
The conversation may not have been scripted but his part of it is heavily edited and edited badly. Sometimes he is cut off mid-sentence. Plus, Karen seems to keep going off script the way she did with Carla. So, I suspect that she was given a couple of do-overs during the filming of that scene just to try to make her sound a bit less inarticulate. Not that it helped.
Karen has her Mob Candy Magazine shoot. Can we all just agree to do everything we can to keep this book from being a best seller?
I don’t care about any of this, so I am just going to skip it. Instead, have a look at The Renee issue of Mob Candy:

Carla and Renee meet up with Drita at Drita’s house. Drita tells them that she spoke to Lee and they immediately guess that he apologized. Both Renee and Carla have been through this so they tell her that he confessed and apologized because he finally came to terms with the whole situation. He is now faced with losing her and by apologizing, he has kept her from completely shutting that door.
Drita goes on to talk about how she hates when she knows what’s going on but there is no confession of it. Because that can make you crazy – I think Renee is exhibit A for that. But, she talks about how these guys are trained to never confess, never tell on each other, and keep their mouths shut. So, no way are they going to confess to their wives – it would be like they are ratting themselves out. Carla says that another reason they confess is because, they aren’t going anywhere being in jail. And how long can they keep up the lie?
Renee confirms that a large part of why she is so crazy has to do with Junior constantly lying to her face. Now, he has confessed to everything and expects the anger and hurt to just go away.
Drita says she wants Lee to have access to his kids as he is a good father.
Renee breaks my heart when she says, how can a man be a good father when he’s abusive to the mother of his children? Which is a great point. But, it’s also Renee projecting and then realizing as she’s saying it that she is totally talking about her own situation.
I find these bitches fascinating! I don’t think I can say that enough.
We also find out that Junior has a child with another woman and he got her pregnant while he and Rene were married (you can get more backstory on that if you are willing to watch that awful after show called “The Sit Down”).
Even, or especially, AJ knows that things are wrong with the two of them. AJ told Junior that if he wants to leave, he will be ok with it, because he can’t stand to see them so unhappy together.
Renee really is breaking – Someone should tell Taylor Armstrong to take notes on how to have an affecting breakdown scene, because this shit is tearing my heart out.
Carla and Drita are really worried about all of the stress that Renee is carrying and how close she is to her breaking point.
Drita is realizing that she doesn’t want to fall into that same trap with Lee. So, I hope she takes this conversation to heart and remembers it if she starts to fall back into old habits.
Next week, there are competing Halloween parties between Drita and CousinSuckUp. Junior and Renee fight some more. Renee’s dad’s driver gets picked up by the feds – it looks like it’s all going to start crumbling down around her.
So that’s it for this week Gasmii! It’s really great to be back. And, if you have any dirt on these bitches (your source doesn’t have to be reputable, unless it’s about people I like), send it to me, I will try my best to use it in the recaps!

I agree, PlathAddict, that it is heartbreaking watching Renee and knowing how this is all going to play out. We all know that Junior is playing her the worst he ever has and she loves him so much (or is so freaking co-dependent) that she is falling for it. I feel so bad for her because I believe that she is genuine and all she wants is someone stable to love. Supersadforreneehorns.
SupersadforReneehorns is right! I feel like she is just the type of person who has always given too much of herself to things that are bad for her. A major red flag for me was when she was talking so calmly about being a professional at offering support from the outside.
And, I think it’s part of who she is. Look at how much of her real grief and turmoil we are seeing play out on this show. Her personality is just to give all of herself to everything. And it just seems like Junior has been taking advantage of that for years.
Knowing that he was planning to get info on her dad, he still made her grovel for daring to tell him how she felt. And, I know that it was most likely the fact that she said it on camera, but still. I would think he could suck it up a little considering what is about to go down and his part in it.
Karen makes me want to punch the screen. speaking out of the side of her mouth and talking like a gangster..waving those fat hands all over and talking about “going to war”…with what??? you gonna sit n a bitch????….and the Escape goat comment, I spit out my prosecco.
that was supposed to say “sit on a bitch”.
I want to know if Ramona knows or has an inkling of what is going on with Junior when filming. Wonder if she was offered to be a snitch when her boi was arrested. Of course Junior is going down this road, how to get close to FIL if not in good standing with the daughter? Renee reminds me of an abused woman who refuses to press charges and keeps going back. At some point I have to stop caring, because obviously she does not care about herself. Drita how about some therapy to look into your anger issues? Much as I love you, you are not doing your daughters any favors by not fixing yourself.
@Diane Marie never spit out your prosecco, even if you are laughing at Karen. But, totally agree with you when it comes to wanting to punch the screen. She’s irritating because you know she’s lying and/or postering, but you can’t really make her stop.
@labowner, I love Drita, so it’s entirely possible that I am biased when it comes to her – even though I try not to be. But, I think she IS fixing herself for her daughters. I may be a chump who will believe anything, but I do think that taking boxing lessons and divorcing Lee is a positive step. As for Ramona, she showed up and all kinds of bells started ringing for me. And, I can happily say that it had nothing to do with her supporting Karen. I have always distrusted and disliked Karen since the first episode, but I thought her having an ally would make her seem more likable. I thought that someone who was her longtime friend would show us a side that we hadn’t seen and therefore humanize her. That didn’t work. I hate her even more this season and I didn’t think it was possible.
Although, I am grateful for her inarticulate and totally wangster ways! It makes for such fun recaps!
Well, I have no idea what y’all are referring to in the comments as far as Junior and what he does to Renee goes. Do i want to? Is this information that will come out during the course of the season? If it is i’m going to try to skip over that stuff if possible. If not, please fill me in!
@Plath -i definitely agree that Drita is truly trying to become the best Drita that she can be, and i love her for it! I also get that from Renee, and it’s a big part of why they are so loveable. Last year i just sort of watched this show halfheartedly. I saw every episode, but i truly was not invested in any of the women. This season is much different! Last season i kind of didn’t like Drita because i’m a pacifist and she’s a grown up and i don’t believe we as a people should be physically fighting each other, especially when it’s being filmed and your children and everyone around them will see it. But this season they are showing a deeper side of her and maybe not where the anger comes from, but definitely that she is working on it. “Each thought, each action, in the sunlight of awareness becomes sacred” not much is more beautiful than a human being seeing and accepting their flaws in a attempt to better themselves.
What does the link say? It doesn’t work.
Have to confess I sometimes hit the Mute button when Karen and that other moron’s mouths are moving but I did rather enjoy hearing her baby daddy call her out. She doesn’t like it when her father is called a rat or a snitch, yet that’s what he’s famous for, for crap sake. Idiot. And then there’s Drita… Watching someone so pretty speak so non-chalantly about blowing up cars — too funny. You go, girl.
@Buffy – I am not sure, but I think the info came out after filming. I do not know if it is shown on the season. I would think it would have been hyped more if it had. With that disclaimer, and knowing that this may be a spoiler, but pretty sure not, I will tell you what happened in the next paragraph. You may skip it if you want.
If you’ve noticed, this season when they show Renee they say her dad has been released to a halfway house. In a nutshell, Junior was up on some charges and was facing time, so he agreed to wear a wire and get information that would send Renee’s father back to jail. In order to do that, he got close with Renee again in order to get close to dad. He testified, Dad got sent back to prison and Junior has disappeared. They “say” he is in witness protection. Who knows? In other words, this whole getting back together thing is one big use.
Plath I agree she is attempting to better herself, but without therapy that anger will still be there boxing lessons or not. It will come out another way.
@tvfan, do you mean the link in the recap? Because here it is: http://www.allabouttrh.com/mobwivesexclusive/#more-2598
@labowner, I agree that therapy is going to be necessary. Not just to help her deal with her anger, but to help her daughters understand that receiving phone calls from your father while he is in prison, is not the norm.
I would absolutely hate to find out if years down the line, Aleeya and Giselle followed in Drita or Renee’s footsteps and accepted that being married to a verbally abusive criminal is just what one does. Aleeya seems to have a really good head on her shoulders, but she also seems to really idolize her father. And, that could spell all kinds of trouble as she grows up.
I have to say that I do admire that Drita has protected them from the number of fights she has had over the years. I also suspect that there was a bit of a producer set up with Aleeya asking if Drita had ever been in a fight, because Aleeya has probably heard about her mother’s brawling ways from friends. But, as a producer set up, I think it’s a good one because it does a good job of subtly acknowledging that this is on TV and the kids will hear about what happened even if their parents don’t allow them to watch the show. It gives Drita the opportunity to address it – I just wish they had shown her addressing it, because I think that would also be helpful to her kids when they do get older and they see clips of this online or when they are hanging out with their friends.
LOVED the recap! I couldn’t stop laughing at this quote “You know that guy that we started living with after I had only known him a couple of months? He’s in jail now. Let’s pray for him.”
As I said in the minicap, I loved that Karina’s dad called Karen out on her shit! I felt so bad for Renee during the therapy session, but got kind of annoyed with her calling him and groveling.
@S-Natch -thanks!~ what a total BUMMER!! wow. i’m shocked, man. Poor Renee, that is about as low as it gets.
Ughh fucking Karen “I feel like a mafia princess” the fuck? She is the daughter of a rat whether she wants to admit it or not. He is a killer & in order to get a better deal he ratted out his friends, it’s simple really.
I do not understand why Karen idolizes this “lifestyle” she is linked to a murderer, even if he wasn’t a rat he would still be a killer. That is not something to go around parading like you’re proud of it…
Oh & I totally agree that Ramona is trying to take Drita’s position as the tough girl! She just can’t pull it off because she isn’t scary & you just don’t believe her “I’m coming for you” act.
@Yvonne, It’s not just her “Mafia Princess” deal, its the hypocrisy. First episode of last season she was all on Renee’s ass about being a mob groupie. She even told Renee something to the effect of how horrible it was that Renee had more respect for Karen’s father being a murderer than she did when Karen’s father cooperated. And now here she is playing up daddy’s connections and telling people to check her blood line.
As for CousinSuckUp, the problem with her trying to take Drita’s position is that Drita for all of her anger issues and scariness has likable qualities. Her interactions with other members of the cast always seem genuine. You can feel the love when she and Big Ang are hanging out. It’s the same when she is hanging out with Carla and Renee. And in the first season, her and Karen hanging out seemed genuine on her part. Not only is CousinSuckUp boring, but all of her interactions seem like an act.
Plath and because Drita’s interactions came off as genuine I equally believed that she can kick some ass and send them to the hospital. Cousinsuckup…not so much.
@classy, EXACTLY! And, let’s not forget that in the first season, even KAREN was giving Drita fighting props and talking about the people she put in the hospital. OK, does anyone know if the site All About The Real Housewives is legit? Because, the stuff they are posting about CousinSuckUp is just so juicy that I TRULY want to believe it. And it would go a really long way towards explaining her behavior on the show.
@S-Natch: THANK YOU for answering a question I’ve been asking for a month! No one ever bothered to respond (sadwoeismeiamnotworthyofpeoplestimehorns – LOL).
That totally fucking sucks. I ADORE Renee and it makes me so sad to think how crushed she must be. I was even getting to almost/sortakinda/maaaaybe like Junior a little bit. Sigh. More Big Ang will cheer me up, though!
Awwww…say it ain’t so S-Natch! Poor Renee! I didn’t like her at first but now I friggin’ love that girl. Makes me want to round up a posse and beat Junior down for being a Richard Cranium. He’d better sleep with one eye open if Drita ever finds out where he is, that’s all I’ve got to say.
Sorry, guys I have been in and out of comments and couldn’t catch everything. But, a bit more background on the Junior thing is: Junior wore a wire specifically to get incriminating evidence on Renee’s dad. Renee did an interview with The Breakfast Club – I linked to it in a prior recap and she tells the whole sad story of the Feds flipping Junior, her Father going back to jail around Thanksgiving, the way AJ has been handling it and the fact that no one in her family knows where he is. The next part may be a spoiler since I don’t know if it will appear on the show, so skip if you don’t want to know.
Junior and Renee had plans to remarry. They were already heavy into the wedding planning when the arrests started happening. She isn’t clear about whether or not Junior gave formal testimony against her dad, but he did wear a wire while visiting him in the halfway house. So, the whole thing was a set up and his using Renee one last time before disappearing on her and their son. So, when you see the media reports about Renee collapsing and having to go to the hospital when her father got sentenced, it’s more than just her dad going back to jail. It’s Junior’s betrayal, plus losing her dad again.
What Plath?!?!?! *faints*
Yep. It has been a truly horrible road for Renee. It’s why it’s so hard to judge her on the show. I can see her sensing that things aren’t right and she is trying to chalk it up to their past relationship. But, there have been so many scenes that I thought were downright prophetic.
When she told CousinSuckUp that the chances of the coming out after walking into that courthouse goes down unless they are really luck or a rat, I got chills. The same thing happened when they were at the shrink and the shrink clarifies that Cheating IS lying.
I feel so bad for Renee this season.
Wow. Just…wow. I already adore her, but now? Oh that has gotta hurt soooo badly. Junior not only fucked her over but AJ, too? Damn.
