While we announced our TVgasm winners yesterday, today actually marks the one year anniversary of our first post (May 12, 2004 baby!). Thank you all for reading and helping to make this site grow so much over the past year.

And for your reading pleasure, enjoy this remarkably cocky first post:

It’s been a while in the making, but TVgasm is finally here. Now the world can share the love and joy of snarky banter about our favorite TV shows. I know that there are a lot of blogs and TV fanpages out there, and that’s all well and good. But we’re hoping to carve a unique niche in the cyber community. We’re not about to have long, wordy rants about some tangental part of a TV show. And we’re not going to be the geeky TV cousin of AintItCoolNews.

We’re just going to be damn funny. And if you don’t think we’re funny, then stop reading – because chances are it’s not us who have the problem. It’s you. Ha ha – sucker.

I don’t know if the whole pledge against “long, wordy rants” really panned out, but hey, that’s okay. I’m pretty sure we’re at least funny, and that’s all that matters, right?

    I always assumed the “long wordy rants” line was meant ironically. I mean, you could almost use that as your tagline.

    Damn … I saw the picture of that ancient woman and I thought it might be an announcement for the TVGASM Death Pool. You weren’t just teasing us, were you J-Unit? Cuz I’m on a dead pool like nobody’s business, man. I’m in one with my lovely and demented friends here where I live, but so far my AWESOME picks (OK, two awesome picks and one long shot) haven’t kicked. I need another shot at this.

    OK, just reread comments on ANTM post — saw your response J-Unit. Sorry, I got a little excited. I’ll calm down and wait patiently. (Don’t know if this helps, but my friends and I post our picks on our Yahoo Group’s database link — seems like it might be simple to replicate — ???).

    My picks from a dead pool I was in 10 years ago were Scott Weiland, Betty Ford and Phyllis Diller. Not only is friggin’ Weiland still alive, but now he’s writing “cautionary tales” in Esquire magazine. Asshole.

    Amazing how it’s only been one year and yet you have completely changed how I watch tv and in some cases (The Bachelor) what I choose to watch.

    On this wonderful anniversary I realized something great as I’m riding the train- tvgasm can be read on my blackberry!!!! Huzzah!!

    You have changed how I watch tv. As in, the other night as I watched ANTM I was tempted to get out a pad of paper and take notes. Oh wow.

    I recently found TVGasm, and it is now my go to place for tv recaps. You all can be as wordy or tangental as you want, as long as it stays this funny. Congrats and Thanks!
