Caleb and Hanna are cookin’ up a little sumthin’ sumthin’ in the kitchen and Caleb’s all, Do you talk about us in your therapy session, because we’re intimate. Sure. Sure, Caleb. Then Wren calls Hanna (she talks to him in another room, away from Caleb) and he tells her that Mona’s making PRO-gress and her visits may be helping, bangers and mash bubble and squeak cheerio wanker. So Hanna might want to visit Mona again.
Emily tells Toby that she’s been getting wasted a lot and crap because Maya died. Are these celebratory drinking binges? Because that’s the only way I can see that making sense, Em. She tells Toby that her friends are disappointed in her, but Toby says that’s not the case, because human emotions are complex and TYPE -39 TOBOT ERROR.
Back at the Lost Woods Resort of Huge Empty Rooms, Spencer’s taking advantage of the motel’s surprisingly existent wifi to do some more research or whatever.
“Oh my god, Facebook TOTALLY needs a ‘dislike’ button!!”
She gets yet ANOTHER phone call from “unknown” and this time actually answers it with, “I’m listening.”
Back at Aria’s house, Aria is getting ready for her date with Ezra when Ella shows up and says that the police want to talk to her. About Ezra’s statutory and inappropriate affair with Aria? I wish. No, they’re interrogating all the PLL gals (minus Emily) about the Alison grave digging. They all give the same alibi. Mom conference time! Veronica says there are no charges, it’s just routine. And Ashley’s like, They were at the lake house all last night, so what’s the deal? Wait — this entire episode takes place within the span of just 24 hours? Seriously? Fine. Fine. I’ll go with it. Ezra shows up to talk to Ella. Seriously. Ella rightly tells him that the last thing Aria needs right now is the police questioning her about her illicit relationship with a former teacher, so go home and suck it, you sweater vest-wearing douche. She didn’t say that last part, but I’m sure she was thinking it. I know I was. All the girls are done with their questioning and then Ezra blatantly says, in front of Ella, “Well, we can still make our reservation.” Assholes say whaaaa?! F**k off, Ezra, that was just rude and uncalled for and clearly made Ella uncomfortable. Douche. Then Aria invites her mom to come along. Oy.
Back at the institution, Hanna’s telling Mona about how Wren is volunteering and thinks that her visits are helping and she can keep coming back if Mona wants. Then Mona smiles at Hanna, but she’s actually looking behind Hanna at Alison, who’s dead, if you remember, so that’s not really on the up-and-up, sanity-wise. Hanna notices that Mona’s staring at an empty chair.
Spencer goes to visit Garrett in jail, who apologizes for messing shit up, but he didn’t kill Alison. He tells her that there’s a lot that Spencer doesn’t know and wouldn’t want to know. He doesn’t know anything about Maya, but he might know who killed Alison. However, he wants Spencer to get her mom (the “best lawyer in the state”) to represent him. Spencer’s all, F**k that, f**ker, and walks away but Garrett yells out that he knows who took the body as the security guard drags him away.
Emily’s out jogging when she spies an old convertible that sparks a first-person-account memory (I guess) of the top opening from the inside. Like she was abducted or something. She gets a text from “unknown” that reads, “I bet you remember me,” and then the car drives off.
Emily shows up at Spencer’s house and tells the gals that the cops showed up and she told them the whole story that they made up and then feels bad about what happened with the cemetery. Spencer says that if they stick to their story, they’re in the clear. Then Emily says she remembers something from that night and there are more flashbacks of the convertible. Emily says that she “found out online” that some people forget things they don’t want to remember. Uh, you had to go to the internet to find that out, Em? You’re . . . You’re not smart. But you’re pretty! And anything can trigger the memories, but Em doesn’t know if it was the same car or just a similar one. She then shows them the text that she received. Aria wonders if it’s starting again but Hanna says that Mona is “A” and is in some institution. She then reveals that she’s been visiting Mona and Mona has no idea of what happened the night Alison was dug up.
