Naomi vs. Posh in Reality TV Smackdown

American TV execs really like their top models. And now that every semisupermodel is either hosting or starring in a reality series somewhere on the tube, and with the latest search for a new top model debuting last night, two of the biggest names in the business are about to enter the fray.

MTV is producing a reality show around Naomi Campbell, the volatile British supermodel and nutjob who’s got a reputation for being cruel to the little people– she’s had six assistants quit on her and two accuse her of assault. The series, of course, will focus on her search for a new assistant.

Sez an MTV source: “Naomi is famous for her spats with staff, so the idea is to try to have some fun and capitalize on the situation. Plus it’s TV work, which Naomi hopes will lead to acting jobs.”

We told you about NBC throwing around all those millions for a show centered around the hilarious (no kidding) former singer- and sometime model- Victoria Beckham and her move to the States with sports superstar husband David and the kids. Now it’s official, and the details are in from NBC are after the jump.

(And… since it seems to be the theme this week… so are some NSFW pix of Naomi and Missus Becks… )Simon Fuller and 19 Entertainment, the folks who brought you American Idol, promise to “give viewers an exclusive inside look at Beckham’s glamorous life as she makes the move across the pond from London to Los Angeles. The six, half-hour episodes are slated to premiere this summer.”

They even made up a quote from Skinny Spice herself: “I am so excited to be making this show for NBC with Simon Fuller. He has so much success around the world with his TV shows and the respect and trust of everybody he works with. This show is really something different, it’s pushing the boundaries and I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people.”

With all that money and all that talent, only six episodes? They don’t have a name for the show, either. Any ideas? Is She Smarter Than A 5th Grader? ?
