Survivor meets Top Model at TLC

TLC is ready to show Janice Dickinson and Tyra Banks what the world of fashion modeling is really about, with a “grittier,” “authentic,” “organic,” “real” wannabe-a-model series featuring the toughest, most battered modeling survivor since Niki Taylor.

Production is already underway on The Petra Nemcova Project, starring the sexy skinny supermodel who became America’s reason to care about the Asian tsunami in December 2004. You remember: hundreds of thousands of people dead across Asia, and American media put the focus on one fashion model who watched her fiancé drown and clung naked to the top of a palm tree for eight hours. Now, Petra will use that true grit and experience to impart wisdom and inspiration as she mentors and guides a pack of hopefuls through the ugly modeling business. Seriously.TLC insists Petra won’t be a “game show” or catfight smackdown. Unlike America’s Top Model or The Janice Dickinson Modelling Agency, there won’t be weekly eliminations or elaborate makeovers of homely gals. They’ll feature more realistic, younger (but at least legal) models, aged 18 to twenty four, and women from around the world, including South Africa and Eastern Europe.

The women are already living in New York, working for a chance to win a contract with the NEXT modeling agency. More than one can win a contract.

The series is produced by tough guy music mogul Tommy Mottola (formerly married to his young diva Mariah Carey) and Dave Broom of The Biggest Loser.
