Recap: Homeland – My Milkshake Brings Al Aqeda to the Yard

Brody takes a walk with the charity host, Rex, to the stables. We get some foreshadowing when Rex tells the story of one of the horses that broke a leg and should have been put down, but was instead rehabilitated at great care and expense. Then again, that horse wasn’t a terrorist. Turns out Rex was also a POW and no lover of war or hero-worshiping. His big goal is to support the VP’s political career in hopes that Brody will keep him in check and also run next. Brody is humbled and touched by this trust and actually tries to tell Rex that he isn’t the man for the job.

“Well, your crotch looks patriotic”

Rex leaves and Brody immediately receives a call from Carrie instructing him to walk through the woods to meet her. He lets her know how much the conversation with the wealthy donor really affected him and made him ashamed to think of how much the man had gone through and still remained unchanged. Carrie comforts him the only way her CIA handbook advises.

“Kissing is calming” – Section 5.7 – a

Brody accuses her of handling him, and Carrie says she doesn’t know what is going on but she doesn’t want him to feel used. He admits he does but he also feels good and engages some more kissy-face before his suspicions kick back in and he asks her how she manages to make him feel so good. As though the vagina is a technique invented by Estes to bring him down.

Back at the pool party, Finn is scamming the empty tables for some liquid courage. But whether it’s for confession or silencing remains to be seen.

“So much gin”

Dana catches him and starts shrieking about what a coward he is and he responds by being a coward and also condescending. The mothers approach to see why their little DNA carriers are acting so uncouth. Mrs, VP starts a gentle scold when Dana blurts out “we killed someone”. Mrs. VP escorts them inside and sits them down like a pair of curfew-breakers and Dana pours it all out.

“I think it’s because I was never allowed a haircut”

Mrs. VP catches the whiff of gin and sends Finn to gather his things. Jessica also dismisses Dana and now its her turn to be sat down. Mrs VP lets her know that this is not the time for normal disclosure and she will handle  it. Jess says she will need to confer with Brody. I think her world of political scheming is about to get a dose of reality.

Back at Command Center, Saul is calling in to tell Quinn that he is just waiting on the Attorney General to get a name out of the girl. Quinn is popping pills and assures Saul he is in tip-top form and has “the mute” (Max), standing by to be his driver.

“Shit, I don’t know how to drive”

MrsMiaWallace is an east coast girl with a  penchant for travel, libations and great cuisine. She is not known to turn down a mimosa or a martini and finds the transition between the two a good way to mark the passing of time since she can never remember to wear a watch. Her secret love for reality tv and addiction to Bravo have drawn her like a moth to the glittering snark of TVGasm,  where she finds there are others like her... hopefully also nursing Bloody Marys.

Agree…it has not been as interesting since Brody was uncovered as a spy. This past wk was much more exciting. I don’t want to give anything away but I am not sure what is going to happen. Apparently Brody will still be around. I am sure nothing will be resolved until next season.
