Greetings, Gasmii!! Alls I have to say is WTF happened to springtime? I’m freezing my buns off here in the glorious South after a winter of 70-degree temperatures and no snow. Now? BRRRRRR. Egads. I digress.
Last week we came out of our Revenge-free doldrums to learn that Victoria has a secret lover, Mason has a conscience, and Emily has a mean right hook. Also, all of the disbelief in the Universe was suspended and Daniel’s home from Riker’s awaiting Justice.

THANKS, MOM!!
We leap into our DeLorean and find ourselves on day 15 of Daniel’s trial. The prosecutor is reinacting the murder in slo mo as Emily VO’s that when the system fails, one must seek his own justice.
Ashley is whoring to the media holding the press at bay by answering questions on behalf of the family. A reporter asks her what she thinks of the prosecution’s plan to put Declan on the stand. Ashley calls him a scorned, emotional teenager.
Jack is in Massachusetts still looking for Fauxmanda. He is at a hotel asking about “Amanda Clarke” whose credit card was used there last week. The clerk is “looking up the information:”

WHO IS BRENDA TALKING TO?

TA DAH!
The clerk makes up a story about partying with Fauxmanda. She tells him Fauxmanda was heading to upstate New York. As he is leaving, Jack catches a replay of Ashley’s press conference and hears her talking about Declan. He calls The Stowaway and Nolan answers. Jack asks Nolan about Declan taking the stand. Jack is very upset that he was not informed and says he is coming back to be by Declan’s side.
Mr. Brooks is meeting with the Graysons and going over their strategy. He suggests opening his argument by putting Emily on the stand. Victoria is pissed that she does not get center stage.

Mr. Brooks points out that Emily is supporting Daniel by choice, not obligation, so she could be a compelling witness. Mr. Brooks emphasizes that it is paramount that they make Daniel sympathetic. He points out that Juror Number 3, Ann Woodbury, showed physical signs during the prosecution’s case that she was ready to convict. He throws around the term “voir dire” so we know he’s a real lawyer and not just someone who plays a lawyer on TV. Conrad asks if they can reconsider the plea deal, but Mr. Brooks says it is too late for that.
Back at home, Emily is watching a news clip from her father’s trial. One of the juror’s wives had been killed in a carjacking, causing him to be replaced by an alternate. Coincidence? Methinks not.
Nolan arrives and tells Emily that Jack is coming back. Nolan tells Emily that he is worried that the Graysons will try to pin the murder on Jack. She tells him that is not going to happen as she listens in on a bug she has planted in the Grayson’s study. Victoria is talking to Unknown Guy from last week – Lee Moran – about threatening Juror # 3.
Emily tells Nolan that Lee Moran has been Victoria’s pawn and now he is going to be hers. She asks Nolan for the Shamu camera. Nolan reminds her that if she exposes Victoria for jury tampering Emily will likely be signing Daniel’s guilty verdict. Emily responds that, “I came here for one reason. Nothing’s going to stop me.”

ANND SHE’S BACK!
Speaking of back, Jack has returned. Declan comes in, finds Jack with the bloody hoodie and freaks out. Jack says he kept it because he may need it to prove he was there and defend Fauxmanda one day. Declan tells him he is going to testify that he did not see Jack or anyone else on the beach that night. Jack tells Declan he will not allow him to potentially ruin his life by lying in court. Declan calls him a phony hypocrite who should have turned in the hoodie and told the truth from the beginning himself. Jack says he couldn’t do that and protect Fauxmanda. Declan is offended that Jack is choosing to protect Fauxmanda over his own family.
We are at Dominik’s studio, and I would be remiss to all of you (and, especially, to @CynTV) if I did not run this pic:

THIS IS HOW DOM LOOKS WHEN NOT COVERED IN PAINT AND VICTORIA STANK. YOU’RE WELCOME.
Victoria is lying in his bed and asks him if he has heard from any art critics. Dominik tells her he is having a showing soon and tells her she is his inspiration.
Plunging into the writers’ secret ambition to be romance novelists, Dominik asks Victoria to step out of the shadows and into a new life. She says she will as soon as Daniel is acquitted. She goes on to say that she lied when she told Dominik she could not love anyone because she was protecting herself. But then she met him and was “drawn to [his] volatility and fire” and she had to leave because she felt “if you burned me, I would turn to ash.”

METHINKS MIKE KELLEY NEEDS TO GET LAID
Victoria says her marriage was one of convenience and that she walked around in emptiness until she met David Clarke.
Emily is arriving home to find Jack waiting on the porch. Daniel sees Jack entering Emily’s house.

AND WILL HANDLE IT MATURELY, I AM CERTAIN
Jack tells Emily he has been chasing Fauxmanda. He says he is not sure if she is screwing with him or if she is in trouble. Emily tells him that if his gut tells him Fauxmanda is in trouble, he should listen to it. Jack reminds her that he can’t help Fauxmanda if he can’t find her. Emily tells him to keep looking.
Jack asks Emily how she is doing. She says she is “managing.” Jack holds her by the fire and Emily’s heart goes pitty-pat.
Daniel is staring balefully at Emily’s cottage. Victoria asks Daniel what he is doing and tells him he will catch his death in the cold. Daniel responds that is inevitable and goes on a pity-party rant about how last summer he got drunk and nearly paralyzed his girlfriend and this summer shot his best friend.
Daniel tells Victoria that Jack is back in town and is in Emily’s house that very moment. She sees Jack leaving and calls Mr. Brooks requesting that he subpoena him as a hostile witness that very moment.
Charlotte is rooting around in the pill bottle as Victoria enters. Charlotte wants to testify, but Victoria says her actions have already hurt Daniel enough. Victoria tells her if she wants to help she will get Declan to corroborate her story by any means possible.

BOW CHIC A WOW WOW
Charlotte goes back to being the mildest pill popper ever.
Juror #3 receives a knock from “room service” at the hotel where the jurors are sequestered. Lee Moran walks in and shows her a picture of her son, Matthew. He tells her that if there is not a hung jury or acquittal her son will not see life past the first grade. He also says if she tells anyone Moran’s face will be the last one Matthew ever sees.
Emily and Nolan are listening in. Nolan is worried about Matthew, but Emily says Victoria has played it perfectly and Juror #3 will never let her son get harmed. Nolan asks if Emily is going to turn the tape into the police and have the Graysons arrested. Emily says that would be “too merciful” and that she will take care of it.
She asks Nolan to make sure Declan sticks to his story because if not the Graysons will go after Jack. Nolan asks if this is all about protecting Jack, and Emily tells him Jack may be willing to sacrifice himself for Fauxmanda, but she is not willing to let him do it.
Charlotte shows up to blow talk to Declan. Charlotte tells Declan she understands that Declan is trying to protect Jack, but if he lies he will be putting Daniel in prison for life. She tells him that he has a chance to fix everything, “including you and me,” and goes in for the kill. She tells him that they can be together again if he tells the truth.
Nolan cock blocks walks in on the scene, causing Charlotte to leave. Declan tells Nolan that both Jack and Charlotte want him to tell the truth on the stand. Nolan asks him what is stopping him, and Declan says he doesn’t know where the truth is going to lead. Declan says he has lost his mom and his dad, and that he cannot lose his brother, too. He realizes if he lies, though, that Charlotte could lose her brother. Nolan says that he Graysons would not hesitate to pin it all on Jack and advises him not to make it any easier for them.
In the courtroom, Declan is on the stand. He says that he and Charlotte were swimming and got cold, so Declan went to get some clothes and that’s when he saw Tyler’s body. He says he did not know where Daniel was at that moment, but he did not see anyone else on the beach. He says that Charlotte was drunk and high on Oxycodone that night. He goes on to say that Charlotte is a good person who is just looking out for her brother as Charlotte storms out of the courtroom.

AND LIL’ DECLAN RESIGNS HIMSELF TO NIGHTS WITH ROSIE ONCE AGAIN
The Graysons storm into the mansion after the day. Daniel asks Victoria why she is so upset since they knew what Declan was going to say. Victoria says she is pissed because Charlotte didn’t whore herself out well enough to convince Declan to change his testimony and says she should have blown him herself. She then reminds Daniel of whom Emily was sitting next to in court.

Daniel, reacting maturely as usual, flips out and calls Emily, demanding that she come over and “talk.” She says she is studying the notes Mr. Brooks gave her for her upcoming testimony. Daniel asks her how she plans to convince twelve strangers she is in love with him when he is not even sure himself.

AND HE INVITES HER ONCE AGAIN TO COME OVER
Daniel hangs up the phone and proceeds to get drunk.
Jack can’t find Declan. Jack has been subpoenaed by the Graysons and is afraid that if he tells the truth he will implicate Declan but if he lies he will be trouble. Nolan tells him he will find Jack some legal advice. Jack tells Nolan about the bloody hoodie and that he wants to hand it over and tell the truth. Nolan reminds him that they are dealing with the Graysons. Jack says he can’t expect Declan to do the right thing if he hasn’t.
Nolan immediately calls Emily and tells her about the hoodie. Emily tells Nolan to get Jack out of The Stowaway for a couple of hours. Nolan goes back in and tells Jack that they need to go for a drive to try to find Declan.
Daniel is swigging booze and watching Emily’s house like a hawk. He sees her leaving and calls her. She ignores the call, causing Daniel to drink some more.
The Help brings a gentleman caller into Charlotte’s room. He remarks how times have changed since Conrad is allowing her to have boys in her room. She says they haven’t and bribes the maid with money and threats to keep quiet.

THE MAID THEN ASKS IF THEY WOULD LIKE SOME NICE CHOCOLATE PIE
Charlotte asks the guy if he brought the pills. The guy tells her that he will sell her the pills if she sleeps with him. She does.
Conrad enters Dominik’s studio. Conrad tells Dominik that he called all of the art gallery owners and told them his collection was already spoken for, so no one is going to come to his showing. Conrad says that he knows Victoria is boffing him. He also says that he has investigated Dominik. He tells him he has proof that Dominik has participated in art forgery. Dominik tells Conrad that he knows what they did to David Clarke. Conrad tells Dominik that he could have both he and Victoria arrested for brokering forged art or Dominik could skip town without Victoria.

NOT HAPPY (BUT OH, SOOO SEXY)
Emily is rummaging around in Jack’s things. She finds the hoodie, then makes it look like the place was robbed. She keeps ignoring Daniel’s calls, but discovers he is at her house when she returns. He says he is not leaving until she tells him what the hell is going on. He says he saw her with Jack and asks her what she has been doing with him. She calls him ridiculous and he shoves her. Hard.

Just then, the police burst in and save Daniel’s life arrest Daniel.
Victoria is talking to Mr. Brooks about Daniel’s arrest. Emily tells Victoria that Daniel accused her of having an affair with Jack. She says it isn’t true – that she is just trying to get close with Jack in order to get information about Fauxmanda.
Declan is calling the police after having come home and found the place ransacked. Jack realizes nothing of value is gone and figures out the hoodie has been taken. Declan hangs up the call to the police.
Lee Moran is being surrounded by police as he attempts to get in his car. The police say they are responding to an Amber Alert. Lee protests that he did not kidnap anyone. They find a bloody sweatshirt in his car.

BOOM
Nolan is talking to Emily. He asks her what happens if the cops find Jack’s DNA (which, presumably they do NOT have a sample of, just sayin’) on the hoodie in Moran’s car. Emily says they will link it back to the night that Jack got jumped and the tapes were stolen by Moran. Nolan tells her she has managed to tie everything up with a neat little bow. Emily says almost and asks Nolan to tie up the last end.
Nolan is telling Jack and Declan that he thinks the Graysons had Moran break in and steal the hoodie. He tells them that he heard on the police scanner that they arrested Moran and found to hoodie, so the Graysons will have to accuse Moran rather than admit their involvement.
Jack wonders how they knew he had the hoodie. Nolan suggests that Moran really did kill Tyler and saw Jack on the beach. He advises Jack not to dig any deeper.
Moran is calling Victoria from jail. She pretends not to know who she is talking to. She learns about the sweatshirt and pretends that Moran is shaking her down for money. He threatens to take her down. She says she will go straight to the police. Conrad overhears and asks her who she is talking to and asks her “what on God’s earth have you done, Victoria?”
As Emily listens through her bug, Victoria tells Conrad what she has done. Victoria says Lee Moran was set up by Jack Porter. Conrad accuses her of going off the deep end. Conrad tells her that he needs to think, and this is the second mess of hers he has had to clean up in one day. Victoria asks him what he means, and Conrad tells her to ask Dominik – if she can find him.
Daniel is writing from jail, telling Emily he shot Tyler because he made him doubt her. Daniel says he is the one who betrayed her and now he is getting what he deserves, so he is going to do them both a favor and “end this now.”
Mr. Brooks enters the jail while Victoria enters Dominik’s loft. In the loft is a single painting and nothing else. In the prison, a note is on the bed. We see this:

I CRAP MY PANTS A LITTLE
Psych! It is Lee Moran.
The guards rush past Daniel who is still writing his letter. Mr. Brooks tells Daniel that the guy who committed suicide confessed to killing Tyler in a suicide note (wha….??). Mr. Brooks asks Daniel if he still wants to change his plea. Daniel crumples the note.
Emily is watching a clip of the announcement of her father’s death in a prison riot as Nolan arrives. She tells him she was wasting her time gathering evidence of jury tampering with regards to her father’s case, and that the Graysons have so much more to pay for. She plays a tape for him of a man (Conrad?) saying they have “another David Clarke situation” at Rikers. Emily realizes that, although she believed her research that her dad died in a prison fight, the truth is that the Graysons murdered her father.

Wow! This one was slow coming out of the gate but, boy, did it pack a punch in the end!! What do you think, Gasmii? Are we going to see Emily on steroids now? Where do you think we’re headed?
If you like it, spread it!:

I found it uncomfortable that Emily’s plans keep getting other people hurt. By wading into the muck with the Graysons, Frank has been killed, Whats-her-name was tossed off a balcony, Jack got beaten up, Tyler was shot to death, and Lee was murdered in his cell (but made to look like a suicide.) She is not directly responsible for any of this, but it’s her revenge plan that has set it all in motion. It makes it harder to root for her, even though the Graysons are despicable.
Took me forever to figure out from where I recognized the James Purefoy. He was the Prince in A Knight’s Tale. I like him quite a bit.
I wonder how Dom felt while Victoria was talking to him about her having loved David Clarke.
Victoria basically telling her daughter to whore herself out to save Daniel was disgusting…but serves to reinforce that Victoria doesn’t care about her love child. Odd, don’t you think? If Charlotte is the child of Victoria’s “great love” and Daniel belongs to the marriage of convenience, you would think Victoria would love Charlotte more. Except Charlotte is female, and Victoria is predatory, territorial, and competitive.
Daniel shoving Emily made me like him a lot less. A lot.
I always figured the Graysons had orchestrated David’s death. I wonder why that hadn’t crossed Emily’s mind.
Lastly I STILL LOVE NOLAN.
I figured out what is wrong with Victoria’s face. Not only does she not show a single expression, but only one side of her face moves. The right side seems to move only a little bit, nothing from the left. She talks out of the right side of her mouth and that is the only eye that tries to show some expression.
I thought it was stated early in the season that the Grayson’s had orchestrated David’s death. Maybe it was the fact that we (the viewers) could put the pieces together because we weren’t so focused on destroying the Graysons.
The whole thing with Daniel’s ankle bracelet – seriously, try and be a little bit more realistic. Those things do not come off when the person leaves the house, they are transported with someone that is able to dis-activate the invisible fence. Also, it is never put OVER clothes. Have the writers never seen an episode of Big Fat Gypsy Wedding? Those people bling out thier bracelets to match their different dresses.
@cattyfan – Nolan is still the best.
Did they ever test Daniel’s DNA? Is he really Conrad’s son? The introduction of Victoria’s special friend might be a new little plot twist. Maybe it is because of those two screen grabs right next to each other in this recap that I am thinking this way.
You have some great observations, @cattyfan. I have never really thought about all of the people getting hurt, but you are SO right. When the series started it seemed like only the people who were directly a part of David’s demise were getting payback – now it is everyone. I also wonder if Jack is so in love with Fauxmanda by now that it won’t matter when/if he finds out Emily is really Amanda Clarke.
Tots agree about Victoria’s edict to Charlotte – especially when she berated her for not being “enticing enough” when Declan did not change his testimony.
Daniel gets on my nerves – the shove just put it over the top.
I do get some really wonky screen grabs for Vicki – maybe she should lay off the Botox!
It crossed my mind, too, that Daniel may be Dominik’s. I guess great minds really DO think alike!
Since Revenge came back this month (?), I’ve noticed that Madeline Stowe looks wonky. Especially the lower half of her face, particularly around the mouth. Stop it, Madeline! You looked great before you did all the Hollywood shit.
Dude, that’s all I’ve been thinking about since this show aired – how Amanda’s revenge is going to hurt so many other peeps aka “collateral damage”. Also, all this scheming & plotting & festering hurts her – she always looks miserable. Shit, the first time my childhood dog ran up to me (in the first couple episodes), I’d lose it! That’s why I’m not good at plotting
Anyway, they don’t make shows about normal, boring people like me. Gotta have the turmoil.
As far as Lydia getting thrown off the balcony and Frank getting killed, weren’t they part of the plot that got her father into jail in the first place? Lydia testified against David Clarke and Frank was part of the cover-up so… I don’t want to say they deserve whatever they’re going to get but, they totally do. And Tyler, he was an awful person and should have been shot a while ago
Many thanks, Ms Natch, for the photo. But couldn’t you have found a nekkid one? There are plenty of those. Le sigh.
Daniel: Waah. Poor rich boy. What I really want to happen with his character is that he hits his head, knocks himself out, and wakes up speaking in his British accent? Didn’t know he was British? MmHmm. And it’s a hell of an accent.
You are right, ladies – Victoria’s face does not move! I hope it’s because of botox and not bad acting. And is it me or does Vicki and Dominick have some of the cheesiest dialogue ever? I was drawn to your volatility and fire? Turn to ash? UGH. STOP WASTING JAMES PUREFOY!!
(O/T: FLYERS SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Back to commenting..
Catty and S (I can call you “S”, right?) I respectfully disagree about the victims you have mentioned. Frank was a bad guy in the first place, and fake-manda killed him anyway. Tyler=psychopath, and one less psycho is a good thing. You can’t even remember whats-her-name’s name, and I can’t be bothered to look it up, so who really cares? I worry about Jack. Actually, I worry more about Jack’s dog. I’m going to go look up his name now. Personally, I want Ashley to go over the balcony next. She is a-nnoy-ing. Go back to Secret Diary of A Call Girl. I liked you there.
And lastly, Emily Thorne – a suggestion: Every time you leave or enter your front door, check the balcony of the Grayson estate. Please? Come on. And get a decent security system!
You amuse me. In a good way.
Lots of good points about the “bad guys” getting hurt, Vicki’s new face o’ stone, and nekkid Dom! That’s why I love you guys. And, yes, @Cyn, you may call me “S.”
I live to amuse – mostly myself. And we need to see more of Emily’s mentor. Where did she meet him? How did she train? I imagine it was something akin to Kill Bill. Now THAT would be sweet.
