Maya Rudolph may leave SNL

NBA star LeBron James will host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live this fall. But while the Cleveland Cavalier is signed up, castmember Maya Rudolph is not.

SNL boss Lorne Michaels (the model for Austin Powers‘s Dr Evil) said at the TV Critics’ show that “talks are continuing” to hold onto to Maya.

We know she does Oprah, but do you think she’s worth holding on to?Lorne said he expects the rest of the current cast to come back for more hilarity on the show that’s been on a downhill slide since the season Chevy Chase left.

Maya has a relationship and a dughter with filmmaker PT Anderson of Boogie Nights fame, and the man who made former SNLer Adam Sandler a “serious” actor by casting him in his Punch Drunk Love movie. She’s the daughter of the late Minnie Ripperton, who sang that multi-octave song Loving You” that Beverly D’Angelo warbled in Vegas Vacation, a movie that is on Tabloid Baby’s list of the Top 50 movies of all time, and which stars Chevy Chase from that first season of SNL. And her best pal growing up was Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s hosted SNL at least twice…
