Christine practically sets up Robyn for hate when she has Robyn step on the scale with and without Solomon to determine the baby’s weight. Any barbs about Robyn being thin are quickly forgotten as neither Christine nor Robyn can subtract 157 from 173. Math saves the day!
Next time someone gets pissed at you, give them a math problem. Crisis averted!
Both ladies have a laugh over the difference in baby weight and get all AWWW when they think about Solomon and Truly growing up to be buddies. Christine thinks it is nice that Solomon and Trudy will have each other when Brown Offspring cohorts A through C have moved out. Robyn notes that they are the last group…maybe. Christine insists that Truly is her last, but Robyn could have more. Robyn’s weight AND a discussion of her procreating with Kody…it’s like Christine is trying to start a fight.
Robyn also notes that Meri could have more kids, reminding us of Robyn’s offer to serve as a surrogate, but in case we forgot, Meri reminds us. For Meri, the offer meant a lot to her but she is not sure she is going to take Robyn up on it.
“Meri could have more kids since I GRACIOUSLY offered up my baby cave for her embryos”
“LOL, oh Robyn, it’s cute how you bring up personal shit that Meri would probably rather you keep to yourself. But keep digging that hole because it’s really fun to watch.”
Robyn and Christine go out to a restaurant to have their difficult talk. Smart move – it’s harder for someone to sob and tell you how awful you are in a public place. I used this method constantly in my last relationship…I never said I was emotionally healthy.
Robyn tells us that she knows it was hard for Christine when she came on board. Meanwhile, Christine shares that she really did not expect to be jealous when Robyn joined their family and apparently jealousy is not something she has had to deal with in the past. Remember her whole thing about being third wife but really meaning last wife? That was her jealousy avoidance strategy and it served her well for 16 years. She did not think that anything could have jeopardized her relationship with Kody.
“Kody and I were the perfect couple before you came along, no offense. And Meri and Janelle were there too.”
Christine tells Robyn that she was initially really excited about Robyn joining the family and she never suspected she would feel jealous. Robyn tells her that she understands and has wondered how the ladies have been able to let her in. Christine then tells her what we all already knew, that she was seething with jealousy when Robyn married Kody and that she has not been able to deal with it. Robyn tells us that she knows that the wives were positive on her coming into the family because they would have said no to Kody if they weren’t down. Would they? We’ll never know.
Christine explains that she never had a problem with Robyn personally; her issue has always been with Kody and her fear that he was abandoning her. She then goes on to say what Meri has been telling her, that Kody has been driven away by Christine’s negative attitude and behavior, widening the rift she was so paranoid about in the first place. Sounds like third wife is singing a new tune entitled “I’d rather be happy than right.” She expected more from Kody and he didn’t deliver – thank you for not taking all the blame!
Robyn confesses that she always thought Christine didn’t like her personally, and Christine feels terrible. Robyn starts crying and tells Christine that she would talk to her mom about her issues with Christine and how her mother tried to tell her that Christine was hurting, that it wasn’t personal, and she should just show Christine how much she loves her and be there until Christine works through her pain. I feel for Christine here; making Robyn cry is like kicking a three-legged puppy.
“I thought you hated me when all I wanted was to love you!”
“I’m going to be trying to embroider my way out of this for the rest of my life, aren’t I?”
Once again, these ladies do all the emotional heavy lifting without Kody doing shit. Apparently Christine thought she and Robyn would be besties but her jealousy got in the way. Both women agree that they really do want a relationship with each other and it looks like things are going to be rosier going forward. Christine is going to try harder and Robyn will not take it personally since it’s not about her. OR IS IT? In a voiceover, Christine says that she no longer sees Robyn as the enemy. I’m sorry, HOW IS THAT NOT HAVING A PROBLEM WITH ROBYN?
“I didn’t hate Robyn the PERSON, I hated Robyn the WIFE! Or did I hate her as a person but accept her as a wife? No, wait, I liked her as a person but Kody marrying her turned her into a person I didn’t like…this is worse than subtraction.”
I don’t understand the concept of the enemy you don’t have a problem with. Please help me. In any case, Christine now knows that Robyn has her back and now she can stop trying to emotionally jump her in to the S-Dubs gang.
