Look who’s learning to layer! I’ve never been more proud.
Gasmii, I think TLC can read my mind! This week’s back to back episodes of Sister Wives addressed two of my complaints. One: we got to hear more about the family’s faith. It wasn’t an in-depth look at their doctrine, but I’ll take it. Second, we got to spend some time with the Brown Family TEENS!! P.S. suggesting that Hunter got drunk in the previews and then it turns out it is just a prank? Not cool, TLC. Don’t set up serious drama and then fail to deliver. Do it again, and you get an angry Meri face:
“Thanks to TLC, all the ADD channel flippers think one of our sons is a wino and a delinquent. NOT COOL, TLC!”
This recap will focus on the first of the two episodes; I’ll have a recap for the second episode tomorrow. So let’s get started! The Brown family is all kinds of giddy at the imminent arrival of Kody’s brothers! That’s right, Scott, Michael, and Curtis Brown are coming to Vegas for some QT with Kody. The whole family may be super excited to see their uncles, but Kody is positively glowing. Meri is a great wife and she is pleased that Kody is pleased:
When is the last time these two looked this happy? The Brothers Brown should visit more often!
Curtis and Scott are arriving during the day and youngest brother Michael will be arriving in the evening. Instead of hanging around the house(s), the three brothers Brown are going on a motorcycle ride! Actually, Kody calls it a “motorcycle drive” but Meri corrects him:
“Hey Miss Daisy, men call it a “motorcycle ride”.”
Kody already has the motorcycle attire. This means Kody has a convertible, an Apple computer, an expensive automatic weapon, and motorcycle leather, all of which are very expensive. Remind me again about the super nice things that the ladies have for their hobbies. No, seriously TLC, REMIND ME. I don’t want to send unjustified spite into the universe. Show me an expensive sewing machine, or bicycle, or state of the art flat iron, and I will cease to complain that Kody is the 18th and most spoiled of the Brown children. Who has two thumbs and is hung up on fairness? THIS BALDY!
“Have you seen my motorcycle gloves? I know they’re somewhere among all the expensive man toys I keep around this house.”
Kody lays down the backstory on his family. He is super close to his brothers, and they are all super close to each other…mostly. He says he has nine brothers and sisters and that his family has five girls and five boys. Three brothers are visiting, plus Kody makes four…what the fifth brother is up to? I wonder if we’ll ever get to meet The Brown Who Must Not Be Named.
More family trivia: Scott is the oldest of the four, Curtis and Michael are younger than Kody. Both Scott and Curtis are both living in Wyoming, Michael is in Utah. Scott and Michael share Kody’s faith, while Curtis defected to a more mainstream Christian church.
So let’s meet the brothers! Curtis arrives first with his wife, Erica. Kody was Curtis’s hero growing up. No word on whether he’s still his hero. Curtis looks like a cross between Kody and Tim McGraw and he has the same ultra-positive demeanor as Kody:
“When life hands you a Bad Day, break off a piece of that B and turn it into a Rad Day! BROWNS FOREVER!”
Scott is the eldest son, the family leader, and a polygamist. He has two wives, 16 kids, zero nonsense. According to Kody, it was Scott’s opinion that made the most impact on Kody’s personal decision to go public. I’m sure his opinion carried weight with the wives as well since Scott seems to be an actual grown-up. Scott is clearly the most serious of the Brown boys, or at least that we know of since one is missing.
This face screams “no shenanigans!” Looking at it makes me feel guilty for all wrongdoings. He’s admonishing me through the computer, I can feel it.
Kody surprises Curtis and Scott with motorcycle rides. Curtis is into bikes and is a biker type guy according to Kody. You know who is definitely not a biker type guy? Scott:
This is what humoring your brothers looks like.
If you like it, spread it!:

Ah, LadyBaldy never disappoints!
Great recap as always, LadyB. Don’t think it would be much fun to be married to old Scary Scott. Taking one’s responsibility to be a role model for one’s adult brothers goes a bit far. He just doesn’t seem to be a fun person.
What would you bet that his wives are not Gasmi?
On the other hand, wouldn’t it be great to turn Sister Wives into the Family Brown? I like this epi better than any other.
Robyn is becoming annoying.
Was that P-90 the sister wives bought him fully automatic? Usually, only semi-auto is legal unless you have a dealer’s license, but they are in Nevada, so who knows?
Firing at that range DID look fun. Not even the patented Boring Brown effect can completely leach the excitement out of firing an automatic weapon. I bet if I went there and paid extra, I could use my own targets with Bethenny Frankel’s face on them.
What NWMTV? Replacing FAndy with Bethenny?
My my.
I think the oldest bar in Vegas still serving is the Atomic Lounge.
Harking back to the age of atomic testing as history would make QEII sneer, but, hey, we Yanks have to take what we can get.
I just can’t support any religion that doesn’t allow alcohol!!
I found it annoying that the wives were all ‘oh Kody needs a guys night’. He picked this lifestyle and chose to have 4 wives so I can’t stomach his complaints about how hard it is on him!
Looking forward to part 2. Janelle was always my fav but her attitude about Logan using foul language endeared me a bit more.
It was great seeing the kids, I agree. They add so much LIFE to the show. I was surprised to hear that Mariah is definitely planning to have sister wives. Maybe she suspects she may only be able to conceive once as well?
I thought Erica was a sweetheart and it was nice to actually be able to relate to someone in this family. I sometimes feel bad for Robyn in scenarios like this where the extended family obviously has a history with Kody’s other wives that she just doesn’t have ….and pretends to – and then she gets daggers from the other wives. Overall I think Robyn is sneaky and manipulative but I felt kinda bad for her tonight. Nice catch on the goblets, LadyB!!!
Ummm. B! I’m soooo over Kody!
But I do want to see more of Scott! I can see he has a little rebel with a cause in him & I likey! I’m sure his family loves him & supports his decision…now, but because of the sermon he gave, methinks that wasn’t always the case. He clearly had some lack of support from his family when he 1st decided not to follow their faith, judging by what he said & how passionate he said it. But, IMO, all that matters is regardless of how they felt about it, they fully support him now.
But then again, I could’ve COMPLETELY misconstrued that scene. Eh
And good job trying to make that motorcycle ride look badass TLC! We got a real chuckle out of that music they were playing.
My husband (who only watches because he has no other choice..ahem..& thinks Kody is a fraud with his own playground which he is disgusted by for some reason) & I were watching it together, & when Christine said they were going to show Erica (?) their Vegas style fun by going pottery painting…this was our conversation:
Me: (grabs his leg) Whoa
Us in unison (with hand gestures): CALM DOWN! (@ literally the same time)
H: Think of the kids
Me: IKR! Doesn’t she know they will probably watch this shit!
H: How do you explain why you’re being so out of hand ON CAMERA!
Me: This is just too much!
What? Not that funny to you? I guess you had to be there
BTW..about the expensive hobby thing…Christine has a $400 Kitchenaid mixer…so there’s that?
Loved the recap! Waiting for the day when Janelle and Christine beat the shit out of Meri for bringing Robyn into the family.
Kody with his ridiculous mop head has the best hair in the family!!!!! Maybe he is carefully plastering the bald spot with his ugly stringy strands!!! It surprises me a bit that he keeps it so long. With the conservative way the women have to dress you would think long hair would offend the polygys!
“When life hands you a Bad Day, break off a piece of that B and turn it into a Rad Day! BROWNS FOREVER!”
Ah, I’m fairly certain I actually snorted. Love you, LB! Back to reading…
@kloewent Maybe he’s a plyg with plugs?
I liked the brothers, but am I the only one who thought Michael looked like a white supremacist??
Anywhoo, a big BOO to TLC for the Hunter tease- What a letdown that was! But Logan swearing? Way cool. I liked Janelle’s handle on it. I am liking her more and more- I can see her kicking BroDad to the curb in the future, you go girl!
As always LB, an enjoyable recap.
Now that you mention it… I think he and Scott both look a bit…off? I’m not sure, because I’m always wrong when I try to lable people.
You are so right about the swearing. She is a cool mom, and I haven’t seen much of her. Either she’s quiet or not around when I’m watching. I’m liking the wives more and more. And sis-in-law is terrific, and half of a terrific couple. Especially since they have a drink now and then! Yay. Let’s hang out.
@LadyBaldy Thanks for doing such an awesome job on this show! After I get through watching it lately, I need to ROFL and you always come through.
It’s nice the brothers got to visit. But it reminded me of the disclaimer on TOWIE. These people are real but some of the situations have been set up for your entertainment. So I wonder if they got to do any regular visiting that wasn’t stunts for the show.
Also they’ve lost me on the house hunt. Since the other 1 is just land, how would that be cheaper? Wouldn’t they end up spending just as much $ or more building on it? And all that time they’ll be paying rent for where they are now and the payments on the land. Not to mention paying the house builders.
I think you’re right they should just go on back to Utah and get into 1 big house again.
LOL I’ve got so suspicious of Robyn now that I roll my eyes at everything that comes out of her mouth. I think she does want something. But I’m not sure it’s for KDouche to divorce Meri and dump the swives so he can either monogomarry her. Or let her be the 1 on paper and pick him all new swives.
Just like with the houses, what’s the advantage? What prize would she win? It wouldn’t be more time with Kid 18. He’d be running around even more trying to look like he’s still 1/4 of a father to all the rest of them. And they’d all be upset and confused.
Including all of Robyn’s own babies. They’d be crying and confused too. Asking her what about all those brothers and sisters she said they had.
So how come she’s conniving like that? What is it she’s hoping to get?
Kthxy, attention. Robyn wants the attention. It’s good to be Queen.
